Which of the Cowboys' Day 3 picks has the best potential in your opinion?

Kevin Sherrington: From everything the Cowboys say, Xavier Woods, the safety. They had a third-round grade on him, I think, and they got him in the sixth.

Woods is a player that should have been draft 2-3 rounds earlier,,, our steal of the draft.

Wow...I hope.I'm wrong..but the tape don't lie...the guy got drafted where he should have been....

His body of work suggests he's a player that gets better every year and that he's the only secondary player that gets turnovers. Ok? Why didn't he start over Wilcox? That's like asking why Leary didn't start over Collins. Because the coaches said so.

Uh, because Leary was better... And comparing Heath to Collins is ridiculous...

1 yard of separation is not burnt real bad and Heath had more than enough range to be there to help had the pass been on target. As it was he beat the receiver to the spot tracking the ball in the air.

You're acting like it was a tipped ball that dropped in his lap when Heath went to get the ball and made a nice grab.

1 yard of separation on a go-route in professional football is burnt real bad.

That was a horrible pass no matter which way you spin it and I said already, Health made a nice grab. But that nice grab was because it was a horrible pass.

Arguing that he should be a starter from that is just absurd.

I believe the replay shown from behind Rodgers was right after this clip. If my memory serves Heath baited him into the throw. Rodgers might have short-armed it when he saw Heath book it over at the last second. It was a baller play.

He baited him into under-throwing a ball to the INSIDE as well, on a WR who had his mean beat on a go-route?

No, it's not. It's a step. That was not Heath in coverage. He was the help over the top and he had the range to get to the receiver had the ball been better thrown. As it was he had a bit further to go to make that pick. Excellent ball skills with it in the air.

Makes no sense. The easier play would be to lead the guy and hit him in stride. Also happens to be a scoring play so there's no reason why anyone would choose to throw a less rewarding pass with a lower chance of a completion.

The bottom line on Heath is that a big group of people here wanted him cut his rookie year. Everyone in that group was wrong and they should just admit they were wrong and that should not be allowed an opinion on the subject currently. It does not matter to them what Heath does now because they're still trying to prove that their original opinion was correct.

My outlook is always optimistic, as in I hope the best for these players and every pick turns out to be great. But the realistic side of me knows the odds of that happening are very, very low.
You need to look at the recent trend in their draft picks. They are drafting very well.

How recent? There's Randy Gregory, who probably has smoked himself out of the league; Chaz Green, who hasn't stayed healthy; Ryan Russell, who disappeared; and Laurence Gipson, who didn't make the team. That's 2015.

Pointing out those players is not a criticism of the drafting because we actually drafted well that year. It merely shows that you just don't hit on every draft pick. Last year, we hit on more than you usually do, but that isn't the norm. Realistically, we're going to miss on some. (Even last year you could say we missed on Darius Jackson and we don't know on Jaylon Smith, Tapper, Gathers and Frazier yet.)

That's typical overreaction. There are threads on a lot of players who weren't great immediately where fans wanted them cut. I wasn't for that with Heath, knowing that he was thrown into a difficult situation when Dallas had to start him as a UDFA coming out of a small school. He was too wet behind the ears and it showed.

I've been a critic, though, of Dallas handing him the starting job now because there's a big difference in playing well in a few snaps per game as a reserve and starting (where you have more and different responsibilities and other teams study you more extensively), but drafting Woods and bringing in Blanton has eased my concerns to a great extent. Between the three of them and even Awusie, I feel pretty sure we can find a competent starting safety, at least the level of Church.

I don't know why people have to hate on one player in order to like another. Heath has improved steadily since becoming a Cowboy, and I'm excited to see what his ceiling is. The thing with these Cowboys is that they are young with their arrows collectively pointing upwards.
