Tony Romo was a classic underachiever. He worked at his craft but honestly the vibe I got from Romo was that if he was cut the next day he'd be fine about it. Football was never his life, it was just a means for him to earn a living and got him to bang a few famous women.

How do you make a statement like this without ever being around the man?

So you’re just making up a straw man as a legit argument?

If you think it’s unfair to pin a loss to one player than you’ve only shown yourself to be a hypocrite rather than advancing your argument.

I'm just trying to bring some consistency in this "he carries the team on his back" argument. Every loss the cowboys have had this year has been blamed almost entirely on Dak Prescott. Well if that is the standard for a loss then yes, consistency dictates that I blame Tony Romo for losing to the Giants.

BTW, that 2007 game against the Giants, Mr. Carried his team on his back had a 50% completion rating, 201 yards, 1 INT and a QBR of 79.2

Guess that was all Patrick Crayton's fault.

Danny White was better than Tony Romo. Aikman was worlds better than both of them.

That is just an outer-worldly level idiotic statement.
Just unimaginable how dense that sounds
I really cant respect a poster with this lack of insight

Oh man, does this mean we won't be holding hands at the Texas State Fair this year?

If tony was so good do you think he’s a first ballot hall of famer?
The Hall of Fame is not about being “good”. There’s no set criteria, they put in whoever they want.
Neither Troy or Tony would be in my Hall of Fame... I think Roger has been the only transcendent Cowboys QB that had a true impact on the game.

Tony was great but Troy was a champion...

Troy had that chance too on Romo-like teams and failed miserably. He was great on super duper teams though.

You downgrading Tony’s teams isn’t a valid argument. He had 12, 11 and 13 win teams that were talented and as good as the competition and they did nothing. He also had win and in games in week 16 and lost. I always stuck up for in but no QB is perfect and he had shots. I’m not going to take away Troys wins because of what teams he played for.

Right about romo not being HOF. Dak has more of a case than him already

I do think Romo played on one team that was overall, really strong.
2007 his first full season as a starter. The undefeated Pats did clobber that team by 3 TDs in rhe regular season.

Anyway, Im sure if he had multiple years...5-6...with teams like that (teams not nearly as good as what Troy had, but pretty damn good) the Cowboys wouldve broken through a couple of times.

You need sustained quality.
Even teams with Brees and Rodgers have only managed one SB win, and they played more seasons.

Doesn't take anything away from Aikman, but we did have some insanely good teams for several years

Romo had plenty of opportunities to move forward in late season and playoff games and he couldn't make it happen.
Aikman was sick in big games.

This isn't even debate worthy.

Romo doesn't have players he played with claiming he's legendary, for a reason.

You upgrading Tony’s teams is an even less valid argument. Anyone comparing the teams they had can’t be taken seriously.
Your whole entire argument revolves around wins which are team elements, because you know that when it comes to actually on the field comparison Troy isn’t up to the task. You can always tell that about people babbling about QB winz. Which isn’t even a real stat.

Ooooooh, I see the genius behind this now.

You see the faulty logic in assigning team losses to one player (as you claim being done with Dak), so now you’re doing it with Romo.

That’s brilliant.

Wait...

No, that’s just as dumb as it sounds.

I’ll pass along your sentiment to Woodson and those guys..let them know internet SK has it figured out on QBs :lmao:

So winning 13 games and 12 games doesn’t mean your one of the best teams THAT season vs THAT COMP? So you should excel in the playoffs, right? You are spinning in the wind

He's better than Romo, but is he better than Dak? What say you? Lol! I'm outta here!!!!!
I don't think you can put Dak in the conversation yet. He hasn't won anything and is very young. If he is our guy going forward let's see how he matures. He is not better than Romo yet.

Oh I agree that we cannot blame a team loss on one player. Doesn't stop anyone on here though. The claim is that Romo was somehow this guy who carried his team. When in reality he was a guy who when presented with the biggest stage in the NFL would fail spectacularly. Hence the fumble in Seattle is a perfect analogy of his career.
