Aughhh......... Rear action tactic. I didn't realize you were using a delaying action here. I thought, as always, you were planning a strategy to win the dang thing with.

:laugh2:

My bad.

Division games are essentially two game swings. It's more important then 1/40th. Doesn't matter. I'm certain that if this were the Mavs we were talking about and it was a single game against Houston or San Antonio in a tight Division race, it would probably be much easier to understand the significance.

The real answer is that you are probably not a Yankee or Red Sox fan, which is OK. However, if you were, you would understand why it's a bid deal.

:)

im a spurs fan, and you can go back and look at how insignificant i find basketball games no matter who you are playing in the regular season, it doesnt matter (cavs swept spurs in 07 regular season, didnt matter in the finals, same with the lakers/magic). Even then basketball games are twice as significant as baseball game seeing as its 82 as opposed to 163(?).

I understand it being a huge deal in new york and boston (i grew up in new york up until about 11 years of age, and still visit family regularly) but the media makes it seem more important than any other series between any other division rival in baseball, which is what i dont get.

i dont dislike baseball, i use to play as a child, its just that the regular season is WAY too long, too many games to keep up with. same thing goes for basketball

There are plenty of reasons to hold the Yankees in contempt, and not the Cowboys... and specifically Yankee fans.

Number one off the top of my head is that I hate bandwagon fans. It gives us true fans a bad name. And most Yankee fans are bandwagon fans.

Not where I come from. Where I come from, if you're NOT a Yankee fan, you lay low. One doesn't recall how or when they became a Yankee fan up there. You just "are" from the womb.

Cowboy fans get the same thing. I get it all the time. "Oh, anyone could be a Cowboy fan", stuff like that. Until I remind them that I was born in 1960, in NE Penna. and somehow got lucky enough to stumble upon the Dallas Cowboys at the age of 4 or 5 or whatever. I don't recall. THAT was in 1965 or so, when Dallas was labled "The team that couldn't win the big one" until they beat Miami 24-3 in the SB. I was 11 or 12 at the time.

So, is that "bandwagon"? What about the kid born in 1985 and becomes a Cowboy fan during the heyday "Triplet" days? Is that bandwagon?

Just because your a fan of a winning franchise doesn't make you "bandwagon". AGAIN, I say, that COWBOY FANS, of all people should know better. The Dallas Cowboys are the closest thing in the NFL to what the NY Yankees are in MLB. We haven't been around since 1693, and football is a different animal than baseball. But, we're the closest thing to what the Yankees represent in the baseball world. "The team everyone loves to hate". The only team in the NFL where your GAURANTEED to get an emotional response, good or bad, when you mention "The Dallas Cowboys".

I've lived in Hawaii these last 24 years, and nary a Yankee fan to be seen besides me and a few others. Everything down here is West Coast. The Whiners, the Lakers, Angles, Giants, Raiders, etc...............Cowboy fans are not exactly a majority either. So I don't buy this "bandwagon" thing, or "I hate them because of their fans" bull.

I never called you a bandwagon fan. But nice rant.

I don't care whether you buy it or not, the Cowboys and Yankees both have more bandwagon fans than any teams in their leagues. I hate Cowboys bandwagon fans because they give us real fans a bad name. For the same reason I hate Yankee bandwagon fans.

Right, you made my point. That being, is that COWBOY FANS SHOULD BE THE LAST folks to begrudge anything "Yankee". Because we, of all people, know what it is to have unvetted and un-justified hatred slung our way, just because we are a fan of team who HAS BEATEN YOUR TEAMS *** over and over and over again.

Not to argue with your every point, but how exactly do "bandwagon" Cowboy fans give us true-blue'rs a "bad name"? I can't recall anyone carrying on about the Dallas Cowboys in an ***-hole way, and me saying "Oh, must be a bandwagon guy" and not "one of us".

Now, I got a LITTLE chip on my shoulder about the "new" Cowboy fans, particularly those who came around Post-Troy, Emmit, Irvin, Early 90's type of folks.

Because I've paid my dues since the early 60's. But that doesn't make them any less a fan than I am. They can't help it if they weren't born until 1980, or 1990, or whatever. Bottom line...............any Cowboy fan is a GOOD Cowboy fan. Bandwagon, new-comer, Johnnie-come-lately, or old timers like us...................whatever.

Same with the Yankees. I got a ten year old boy. His old man is a Yankee fan. What, I akss ya', do you think he's had drilled into his head since he's been around three years old? Take a guess.....................Dallas and the Yankees.................THAT'S WHAT! Is my kid a "bandwagon" fan because his old man brainwashed him into correct thinking? I don't think so.

Most "fans" are fans of their teams for "homey" reasons. The old man, home town, home state, whatever....................

I don't think you understand what a bandwagon fan is.

The Cowboys had lots in the 90s, not so many in the early 2000s. Now we have more because we've been ok. The Yankees have probably lost some the past 5 years or so cause they're not winning it all. Those are the fans I hate.... and yes they give us a bad name when there are so many of them.

Are the Sox done? Are the Yanks the best team in the American?

Just based on the 0-8 Red Sox drubbing of the Yankees

THEN the

4-0 Sweep of Boston by the Yankees should give you the answer....

Neither team is done.

They live to BEAT each other.

Maybe so.............I can't speak to your experiences.

But I've never met a Cowboy or Yankee fan who was "here today and gone tomorrow" based upon performance. I'm sure their out there, but I've never known one. And I'm pert'near 50 yrs. old, and have lived in six different states from coast to coast. In fact, I've never know a single person who has switched teams "bandwagon" style in keeping with whoever the winning or losing teams is.

Every Dolphin fan I've ever known.....................still a Dolphin fan. Every Red Sox fan.............still a Red Sox fan. Raiders? Now there's a doozy for this conversation. But, every Raider fan I know, and that's a lot around here, still a Raider fan.

In fact, I can't name ONE "bandwagon" fan I've ever known in my life. No on who "jumps on board" when the goings good, or "runs for cover" when things are bad..................not a one.

And I'm certainly not legion with that rabble..................

I have to agree with this... for me anyway. When asked "who is your team?" or "how about those cowboys after losing?"... it just prompts this response from me.... "The Dallas Cowboys, Every day, every game NO MATTER what... WIN OR LOSE" then i throw in the "I dont change teams because they dont win".

It usually gets a reaction like, "Whoahh... a real fan"

I love it!

Yanks took two out of three from Boston in Fenway this weekend. Yankees are 7.5 up with 38 left. Boston has 3 more with the Yanks in NY. The funny part is that if Boston pulls for the Yankees to lose, they probably hurt themselves. Yanks have 3 with Texas and then 3 with Chicago, both of which are battling Boston for the wild card. They also have 7 left with the Rays, which are right behind Boston in the East. It's going to be interesting. Yankees have the following left:

3 w/Boston
3 w/Rangers
3 w/CWS
4 w/Angels
7 w/Rays
6 w/Jays
6 w/Orioles
3 w/Royals
3 w/Mariners

Basically, they have 20 games with teams that are in the playoff hunt. They have 18 games with teams that are out. With a 7.5 game lead, which way do you pull? Do you pull for the Yankees to drop the games against the contenders, which Hurts Boston in the Wild Card, hoping the Sox Catching the Yankees or do you pull for the Yankees to keep winning as it greatly improves Boston's chances of winning the Wild Card?

Who cares about Yanks and Boston. I just want the Rangers to get the wildcard. (something really stupid would have to happen to the Angels for the Rangers to win the division) Even though that means they face the bane of their playoffs history in the first round. The Yankees.

Texas could really help themselves over the next few weeks. If they can win against the Yanks, they have a pretty easy Schedule, the rest of the way. I think they have 7 games against the Angels and 3 against the Rays. If they can win against the Yanks and then do well against the Angels, they can probably win the Wild Card.

OK, Yankees are up 9.5 up with 23 to go. When I first asked this question, you guys said there were still to many left.

What do you think? Can the Sox come back or is it a done deal yet?

I don't think so. Sox will be lucky to hold off the Rangers.
