If Dallas paid McFadden a fat contract to come here, then it would be a contender for one of the worst signings (if he fails).
But they are risking next to nothing for the guy. How can that be a terrible move?
The downside is that they cut him and lose almost nothing.

They expect Randle to start unless DMC surprises to the upside.

I'm not so sure that Collins can come right out of the gate, pick up the playbook like Leary should have by now, and straight up win that LG spot. Maybe mid-season to next season, but for right now he may contribute from the bench better since unlike Leary, he could probably fill in ably for Free, as well, should he be needed in that capacity.

Collins is not going to beat Cillins out this first season . Leary is very underrated by fans, but players like JJ Watt knows what kind of player Leary is. Collins is not the same quality of player as Martin was when he came
Not to beat a dead horse but I remember having conversations with you last summer about us feeling different about how good our season was about to go. I'm going to have to disagree with you again, especially after I saw that video that was posted yesterday that showed how bad McFadden line was. He is gonna tear it up imo. Guess we'll have to see who is correct this time.
Younmay not want to beat that dead horse much. You was right one time. He was right 20 times. Your odds are not the best for being right over a period of time. The emotional fan in you are seeing DMac as a better RB than anybody other than a few other Cowboy fans.

People need to stop looking at McFadden as the guy and trumping him up for Pro Bowl. Its just not gonna happen. I dont even think he is a serious contender to be the lead back despite coach speak.

However in his role ( 3rd down back) he will more the justify his contract, he will be talked about as one of the better moves of the offseason. As a blocker and a receiver, he is a clear upgrade from Murray in what he can do. I see him getting about 150 carries for 650-700 and about 50 catchs for 450 yards

I see DMac as taking the roster spot of another young RB that could have the upside to be a quality player and be the short yardage RB that the team needs. The cheap contract is the only thing that keeps him from being a really bad signing.

With the troubles that DMac has had running behind a zone blocking system, I question his signing more than any signing that Dallas has made in the last few years. He just doesn't fit the system at all and his attempts to run behind a ZBS was a failure. I would like to see a trade for a young RB that has the size and ability to get the tough yards. Dallas will have several comp picks next year, so trading one of their regular picks wouldn.'the hurt their draft that much. I am for anything that will bring a better RB to the roster., and yes, I mean anything.

Murray had his lowest average the 1st year that Dallas implemented the Zone scheme.

McFadden's ypc was basically the same the 2 years after they abandoned the Zone scheme in Oakland as it was the year they tried to implement it.

Pollack, the Cowboys OL coach, was the OL coach in Oakland the year they implemented the Zone scheme. He must believe that McFadden can do it.

I get this but I don't think I agree. I mean, on the surface, that's very reasonable but honestly, Dunbar has been here a few seasons. So has Randle and Williams is a guy who needs to show that his talents translate to the field this season. Any of these guys and maybe all of them could be gone if they don't show up this year. I'm OK with it for that reason.

I could say the pessimistic side of you isn't taking into account how he could excel here away from the cesspool of Oakland. And last year was the first I was out right making predictions so you have no idea how right I am over a period of time. We're gonna be debating this point for months until the season starts so it's really pointless. Hopefully for the Cowboys sake I'm the one who's right not you.

And it's not like Davis has "tore up the league" with his YPC average.

yes but he's the BU to Charles

Knile Davis could probably start for 10-12 teams if he was given the opportunity. He has great size and speed, he is just stuck behind a top tier rb like Charles.
