You are delusional if you think DL is a higher priority than S this year

I think the Cowboys have started drafting according to their board a lot more in the last few years, which not coincidentally is when the drafts have started becoming better. You make your board based on talent and fit in your scheme and then you draft to that board. I'm guessing that we will have Lane Johnson, Warmack, and Cooper rated higher then Vacarro. I suspect that we might also have Richardson and maybe Warner higher. One of the questions is will Star Lotulelei fall, and if he does I'm not sure we should pass him up.

I'd honestly argue that if our best player on the board when we draft is a WR we should probably take the WR. You wind up with Ebenezer Ekuban when you draft for need.

I honestly don't understand why there would be a debate right now. Seems like every year for the last four years Dallas's big needs have included O-line and Safety. The last four year's drafts have produced Tyron Smith on O-line and Barry Church as for Safety. That leaves four questionable spots on O-line and one massive question mark at Safety.

There are no questions on who will start on D-line in 2012, even with a draft pick.

If Warren Sapp junior is there when Dallas picks, then of course they should pick him. But, if they all have similar grades, then for goodness sake please draft the starting caliber O-lineman or Safety. I'm tired of Dallas starting back-up quality players.

If we draft a 1st round DT, and he is better than Hatcher (who is moving from a 3-4 de) then so be it. And it's not like Ratliff is a world stopper either.

Its going to be really interesting for Jerry and co., just because there is a decent chance that a top rated OL, DL, and S on the Cowboy's board, could all be sitting there at 18.

If this is the case and there is S, OL and DL, then value and priority at this level represents DL with the 18th Overall, 24/7 and twice on Sundays.

I'd gladly go for someone with experience in the system back there even though he's long in the tooth. His knowledge can make up for his diminished ability. I think it's doubtful a rookie would step in and have a flawless season. While the youth might allow him to make up for some mistakes, if he's not in the right position it's not going to matter.

At least Barber should be in the right position and could help direct some things back there.

I want Barber just from the teaching aspect, he would be basically a coach on the field for this new defense.

You might have a point now that Kiffen is running the Defense. He might be a guy that puts the best players on the field and lives with rookie mistakes. Garrett has traditionally shied away from starting rookies unless it is just flat out necessary (like Smith and Claiborne when there were no incumbent starters in their way).
