You can count on Dalton Schultz not returning

Pollard was at least comparable to Lamb as our most important skills player on offense. More than Schultz and Gallup, both who made more last year than Pollard will make on the tag.
If you want to worry about overpaying, worry about the guys who don't deliver value on the field.
When teams are regularly getting 1,000 yards-plus from guys on rookie deals, you can’t justify paying $10-$11 million for a year.

The 2023 NFL Draft is said to offer the best group of TEs in the last decade.

With that being the case, Dalton Schultz shouldn't be too difficult to replace.

He was better than mediocre if we are going to be honest about it.

He was 10th in yardage and 11th in receptions among TEs last year.

I think we can get by with the younger and cheaper TEs, but lets not act like Schultz was a scrub.

He is also a below average blocker. Which is still an important skill for a tight end.

Total Yards are a poor metric.

Someone posted a number of metrics ranking Pollard vs. the league. Top 5 in a number of categories. His current production per carry, per target, per touch just doesn't grow on trees.

How many RBs took a fly pattern to the house for 68 yards?

Schultz should be the poster boy for the ....Will have to make Savings for a 20% CAP QB.
Sorry, will have to do with Hendershot and Ferguson (unless we draft Kincaid to improve TE AND improve our receiving unit).

He won't be worth the contract he ultimately gets, but he was under appreciated here for what he contributed. We forget what it was like here at TE between Novacek and Witten.

I think the Cowboys will be ok with Ferg and Hendershot. But I don't know if they will be as productive as Schultz. Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves that the backup is as good or will step right in. Sometimes 2nd and 3rd strings look more productive because opposing defenses aren't expecting them to be as involved or go up against a lesser defender.
They don't have to be productive as Schultz. He was a safety valve for Dak who was just incapable of hitting his receivers further down the field. No weapons my ***, our QB just needed a baby sitter close by. And Schultz was doing this job just fine.

If they are serious about that different offense, then have Dak hit his guys at 10+ yards and you don't need super productive TE's but good pass blockers.

Schultz will go to the Chargers and help Moore with a real QB.
Are they taking you and others with them as well? :lmao: J/K.

I hope they do sign him, and it gives us a possible 3rd or 4th round comp pick, depending who we sign, if any in FA to offset the pick.

I am as interested in seeing how Moore does also. I am glad he is gone, but I also wish him luck in LA, and maybe Herbert can unseat Mahomes as the best QB in that division, at least win the AFCW.

This season will be Hebert vs. Dak on here all season (but we do know the better QB, and he is not a Cowboy) but also it will be MM vs. KM.
Although the numbers and stats may not tell the entire story. Playoff success will.

All 3 TE's on the roster now can easily make up for Schultz moving on. I don't see it as an area of need.
Ferguson and Hendershot should make great progress in their 2nd season.

To an extent, but Kelce and Goedart are more than just blockers.

Well given the OK Coral nature this group has become as well as the continued ineptness of this organization that just may happen.

Agreed, but my point was, Dak needs to get his **** together first, then try and find some bonus targets such as Kelce and the likes. Otherwise it would just be lipstick on a pig. Ferguson and Hendershot will be able to bring what Schultz brought. As of now we don't have to do anything on that position but let Schultz go and use that money elsewhere. A valid WR2 or some O Line improvements for example.

But you know, since QB1 is now on the same level as a Brady, we don't have to worry. SB 2024!

What does empathy have to do with it? Good Lord the man is word salad disaster.

Of course. When they destroy your case.

Rookie Damien Pierce had a 75-yard TD run. Or does that ‘not count’ by your selective reasoning?
