I've watched from off line for a year or more. I haven't read the comments. I'm sentimental for the blue and silver and have loved Dak from the first game. I'm disappointed he has taken this stand. It took some of the glow off Dak IMO. Dak doesn't give a damn of course its his money. Have we all lost something in all this. 35M for five plus another deal. I can't stand behind one hundred millionaires crying give him more.

This might shock you but Tannehill's replacement in Miami was at the time a 15 year vet named Ryan Fitzpatrick, not a rookie. In fact Fitzpatrick was voted by his team mates as the 2019 dolphin MVP. I'm happy for you that you think so highly of Dalton and it is your opinion. Me, I believe what those who have first hand knowledge of a situation over what a fan thinks. Here's what those with that first hand knowledge decided. With two options, to keep Dalton or fire Dalton, they chose to fire him. The bengals decided that a rookie with zero snaps in the NFL was better than their starting QB who's salary wasn't a cap crusher. Dalton had two contract offers to be a backup QB and chose the Cowboys because he's originally from the area, but it is as a backup QB. If the Cowboys actually really thought Dalton was a legit starting QB that they could ride with for a couple of years after getting him for a measly 3 mil they could have rescinded Prescott's tag and saved 28 mil, and pulled off the biggest cheap starting QB in a long long time. That money they would have saved they could have used to sign some of the defensive players that would have helped them. But unfortunately for you, they DID sign him as a cheap 1 year insurance policy against injury to Prescott as a backup QB. .

Last year he played poorly in the first half against better teams and some poor teams. I get it you are a stat man, doesn't matter how he gets them.

I'll do whatever I dman well please. You sit there and berate other people for being self-proclaimed experts then do the same thing yourself. I don't see you running an NFL team.

Your "theory".....is wrong. A company pays you what they think you are worth. If that means "overpaying".....then that is exactly what they do. You are worth "overpaying".

I mean you can say whatever you want but this debunks that narrative as well

I'm not sure Dak single handedly took the team down. The entire team didn't look like they were ready to play. C'mon, we've seen this before. In 2017 a three game stretch where the team looked like they couldn't be bothered. I'm surprised they won any more games after Thanksgiving, but again, they beat up on bad teams that also couldn't be bothered. Do we need a Peyton Manning type to stop this from happening? Or is it our coach that failed to prepare the team?

We've seen it before in 2010 when the team quit on Phillips. A coaching change mid season and the Cowboys looked like a completely different team. With Kitna no less! But once your team stops playing for you there is really not much a QB can do.

I know this thread is a Dak stinks thread, but I put most of the blame on Garrett. Besides a few outlier games he has consistently fielded an ill prepared uninspired team. Beat up on the bad teams, get punched in the mouth by the good one's. We've seen coaches like that, and Garrett is one of them. This is why I try to stay away from the garbage time stats angle. Although true, it may not be the QBs fault. This has been a pattern throughout the years with Garrett.

Good coaches trend totally opposite. They have their team ready to play at high intensity against better opponents. His only concern is getting them to maintain that intensity level against poor teams. We didn't have a coach like that for the last decade.

No way do I think or say Dak took the team down, he had some help but he did disappear in many first half's, he also always seems to be trying hard. Excuses I don't buy or bloated stats either. I do not buy into he is anywhere near elite. I have no problem seeing how he does this year and if the price is to high there are always other options. 4 years with top talent and decent defenses hasn't payed off , same old the last 20 years. Lets see what MM does with him and go from there since the biggest excuse for him is coaching by many.

Replacing him wont be tough. Look at all the fa qbs in 2021. Heck we could even trade for Rodgers in 2021. Imaging what a top qb could do with this offense.

My point is: dont make the mistake to think your success is totally dependend on him. Its not!

Some people (here in this forum) who experienced some down years where we were playing some QBs that didnt belong in this league are now so frightened to experience the same again that they grasp for every straw. That angst fogged their mind. They dont expect to have a bright future by making decissions. They rather stick to the known even if its showed it is not the way to get them where they want to be. They are satistfied with being not where they dont want to be.

But the down years werent because of the QBs we played. The QBs only were the result of missmangement inside the FO. But things changed. We have a new coach who seems to value the QB position a lot more: We spent a draft pick to developone and got a good back up. Our draft now is much more rational since Will Ckay took over duties.

So there is no reason to think we will experience the same we did 15 years ago. Let it go!

But your angst fogs your mind and that fog doesnt let you see what Dak showed us the last 4 years. He cant do it. That doesnt mean he cant win us the division eventually. But is that really your (our) goal ?

Sorry not mine. I want a SB! Not 1. At least 3 in the next decade. And with that goal i need to replace bad decissoon makers with good one. We did that as i mentioned (coach, McClay etc..). Now its time to trust our improvement.

    I respectfully disagree.

The 2015 season shows what a huge difference having a good QB makes. You can’t just put anybody out there and expect to have success

Getting another QB as capable as Dak won’t be easy.

You know the saying that goes:

"What's the definition of insanity?.......Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome".

Maybe the OPs question needs to be turned on its head. Why do Dak supporters think this year will be any different? Coaching cant overcome Daks limitations.

At least those suggesting ideas are trying to find a way to win rather than wallowing in self pity. If you dont have a suggestion, dont knock those who are trying.

I did not say it will be easy but it wont be impossible also. Thats like some here put it.

As i said take a look at the FA QBs in 2021. Rodger may want out of GB. So chances getting him especially with McCarthy here might be really good.

It may take us a year we sacrifice to find a new QB. But even the sacrifice doesnt mean 10 years of suffering.

A good QB is a good thing to have. But he wont take you to the promised Land (see Romo). Romo fans blame it on his surrounding cast, which btw to me is rather silly. Romo had special talent all over the field on offense for his whole career. But that is a different story.

My point is as i already posted: dont hand your faith on a player just because you are afraid to experience your past again. Especially when you know what that player is capable of and what he is not able to.

And even if we are not satisfied with what we find next year in FA qe could still draft a QB and sit him for one year. With Dalton in 2022 i dont see us having a down year. We may be 7-9 or 8-8 with him and wont make the playoffs. But so what ?! no big change from Dak.

I don't think anyone has said that he stinks, maybe in certain situations or against teams with a certain winning percentage, but over all, he doesn't "stink"... he's AVERAGE, there's a difference.

Every time I think I can stay away I pull myself back in.....

What I would do is trade Dak for a boatload of draft picks. Some teams and GM's think Dak is good some do not. I would trade him to the former. Take those 2 1st round draft picks. Take the $35-$40 million a year I save on Dak and go out & buy 3-4 more studs.

So you either roll with Dak OR Dalton + 2 1st round draft picks + 3-4 more studs..... Really not a tough choice.

For all the pro Dak fans every time an anti Dak fan screams 8-8 you say it is a team game.... although the team was loaded. I would agree with the statement that it is a team game..... So why than plunk $40,000,000 a year on a greedy average QB? And just to clear up the confusion when I say average I am trying to be very kind to Dak. Does anyone hear really think that if Dak was drafted by the Bengals or Dolphins he would still be in the NFL?

One last question to the pro Dak fans when you scream about stats are you acknowledging that as a reference point because you do not have the ability to form an opinion from actually watching the games?

Because when I watch the games I see WR's running wide wide open. I see Dak having all day to stand and throw from a clean pocket. I see garbage teams with garbage Defenses OR I see average to above average Defenses stifle Dak until the 4th quarter when they are playing a different run out the clock style Defense. The only game I thought he played played well last year was the Vikings.... and even than at the end he crapped out.

I have nothing against Dak. I feel awful that his brother passed away. I feel like he has had a hard life and he has pulled himself up by the bootstraps and done very well for himself. I think he received horrible advice from his agent. I think he has done a very good job creating a false image of himself that is not true. I do not think winning is his #1 priority. I do not think he is a great person.... as some people try to build him up to be. He is just a man. A normal guy. I do not think he is squeaky clean from the party lifestyle. I think he has fooled a lot of people in Dallas.... in part because the media likes to create heroes and feel good stories..... I still remember when the Cowboys brought in Ryan Leaf and Jerry was praising what a team leader and hard worker and great guy and great teammate Ryan was.

I think Romo was a great QB because of all he had working against him. Coaches, personnel, etc.

Conversely I think Aikman was incredibly overrated. But sometimes playing with the world's greatest teams ever assembled helps. And I do appreciate Aikman not screwing it up. I am a fan of Aikman because he was a Cowboy and he did enough to win 3 SB's. But if we are being honest the last few years of Aikman's career & he was still young in those prime years Anthony Wright looked and played better than Aikman. If Dak wins even 1 SB I could care less if he does not complete a pass. He will have done enough. So far he has not won a SB. So I do not understand why true fans of the team want to pay him like he has KNOWING KNOWING it will gut the team. And even the most ardent Dak supporters will admit that if he does not have a LOT and I mean a LOT of talent around him Dak has proven to be a poor QB.

But why would you admonish others?: Why would you accuse them of being self proclaimed experts...but think YOUR opinion should carry such heavy weight?

You are kidding yourself but I see through it. You wanna tell some to "stop doing that"? Welll you stop acting like your opinion matters more than anyone else's.

When you criticize others and telling people to "stop doing that"...there's a problem. You have literally told other people to shut up while thinking your OPINION is so much more valid.

    "stop doing that"
