This nails it. Glad he is on the team buthe is not an All Pro anymore. The technique and knowledge is still there. He just doesn’t have the top end speed anymore.

The same impression Belichick had when he released him. His only highlight last year was against the Cowboys and Jerry Dumbo GM Jones drunk the Kool Aid he gives Arlington Jonesboys fans. Our pick up this offseason, how are you liking what he's bringing to this team in our 3 games. What is he doing well, what can he do better? I feel like there's added pressure to him with the loss of Diggs. Please give your thoughts.....
...I like Gilly so far. He brings that veteran feel to the group.
His presence is going to be huge down the road. Dallas D, is yet to GEL together.
They might get even better down the stretch.
And that's the issue. This isn't the NFL of the old. Every team has speed everywhere. If you can't keep up with it, you aren't of much use, no matter how good your technique is. I haven't been impressed at all but I had a feeling we would get what we see. An aging player that has lost a step. The technique and knowledge is still there. He just doesn’t have the top end speed anymore.
Seahorn was way before that if I remember correctlySeahorn and who else?
He looked fine his first 2 games. The whole defense looked like they went to the club Saturday night and walked into the hotel at 3amHe looks slow and old ...Hope I'm needing glasses
...yep, what he lost with age, has gained in smarts.Losing Diggs has hurt him, but from what I've heard/read he's has a HIGH football IQ and is helping those around him.
I read this post as song lyrics to a death metal jam. It rocked. !!It's just rarely good to trade for a guy who is past his prime...even if his prime was 2 years ago.
Rather Buy Low on a good player you hope becomes great, than get a player that USED to be great that you hope will still be good.
Philly kinda did that with Darius Slay....and it worked out for them, as Slay isn't what he used to be (top 2 CB in NFL in Detroit), but his decline has been sooooo slow (maybe becausehe isn'tthat big?) that he’sre.ained a top 10 cb for a longer than you would expect....but USUALLY once a player starts The Decline it just doesn't work out.
Belichick didn't release him, he traded him. It wasn't for a lot, but a team can't manage the salary cap without making some tough decisions. The same impression Belichick had when he released him. So basically Jerry Dumbo GM Jones just got two cheap veterans for name value (Gilmore and Cooks)? Yep that what he does keep the Jonesboys relevant instead of win Super Bowls.Belichick didn't release him, he traded him. It wasn't for a lot, but a team can't manage the salary cap without making some tough decisions.
As for "drinking the coolaid", all the Cowboys committed to was him finishing out the last season on his contract. They have not treated him as a cornerstone of the team or committed big dollars to him.
