Obviously on the back nine of his career, but I still think he's a solid player, especially for a 5th round pick. Just sucks with the whole Diggs situation because I think they'd feed off each other all season and lock it down. Not sure what we have with Bland yet.

So basically Jerry Dumbo GM Jones just got two cheap veterans for name value (Gilmore and Cooks)? Yep that what he does keep the Jonesboys relevant instead of win Super Bowls.
So, you start out saying he bought the cool-aid, then when you find there is no long term commitment you switch gears and say he just snatched these people up for short term name value.

Seems you're more concerned with manufacturing a complaint than focusing on reality, and you're willing to keep changing your story to do so.

As for reality, signing players on short term deals isn't unique to the Cowboys and Jerry like you want to suggest (at least your most recent suggestion). No team can fill an entire roster with high level players on long term contracts at every position. It's common to have some short term commitments to improve chances in the present.

I honestly haven't been that impressed with him. He's not been bad by any means but he doesn't look like a recent DPOY.
There problem here is that you are focusing on him being a DPOY. He isnt anywhere near that anymore. If he was, we wouldn't have gotten him for a 5th round pick

Some of these threads are amazing . Complaining about a steady corner especially with Diggs lost . What next don’t like the cheerleaders outfits ?

The loss of Diggs should make us feel grateful we have a decent veteran to help alleviate the situation. Otherwise we’d be down to Bland, Lewis and god knows who at #3.

About as good as Anthony Brown. If teams need a first down they throw his way.

Didn't we just trade for a former first-round talent?

Yet the Cowboy defense has only given up 148 yards per game through the air and has given up the second fewest passing 1st downs in the NFL.

So, you're basing your evaluation on what you assume will happen against a different QB, and not on what we have actually seen so far.

Well, that's fair ... lol

Let's see if they hold Purdy to their season average of 148 per your post.

Again, your current evaluation is base on what you assume rather than what has actually happened. Had you said you need to see more to better evaluate, I would understand that, but your position is simply to say he isn't that good without having any current evidence that suggests that.

That said, they probably won't hold Purdy to 148 yards, but that wouldn't automatically mean either Gilmore or the team didn't play very well. They could give up a lot more than 148 yards and still be good.

I'm wondering if Gilmore plays well against SF, will you just move on to Philly as the next standard, all the while saying he isn't that good? Are you going to keep moving the bar until he has a bad game and then claim that game tells the story of the whole year/
