Team sport. Defense was ok but had many issues that didn't get addressed. No one looked at that roster and thought man they are ready for a run, except blind homers. Most looked at that offense assuming Romo would play and said that should be a legit offense. But no objective person really thought man this team is going all out for a SB, they weren't gearing up for a run. They had a good offense on paper that would take the ball out the QB hands and you better hope you didn't have to lean to much on defense.
People have selective memory when comparing Tony and Dak its pretty crazy actually...Tony nor Dak won anything both had the same bad HC for a while and neither had anything like the 90's team Cowboys backing them....both hugley overachieved what they were projected to do in the NFL....but yet depending on who your talking to one sucks and the other is great...CRAZY!!!!

they had some good offenses though. too bad that 2007 team didn't win anything. gotta admit they can be fun or frustrating to watch.

30%

I honestly think the cowboys are contractually obligated to win just enough games to be a great but not elite team and win 1 playoff game

I feel like there's a 25% chance of making a super bowl because of the relative weakness in the nfc. Winning? 5%

Im talking with romo. Why do you think they took zeke? They didnt even have dak yet.
during and after seeing what a rookie jag mid draft qb could do with it...anyone who thinks romo couldnt try a run is just a hater.

I can play name callin' too.

The components which make up a Super Bowl contender should be fairly obvious from year to year.

The defense for this team outs Dak much closer than Romo ever was possible. But the make-up of the offense is where this team either succeeds or fails.

Dak has to protect the ball better. But that is not a stand alone which falls on his shoulders solely. The elements of the offense work in tandem and require all to function for all to be as effective as they can.

The offensive line is the foundation for both passing and running the ball. When Dallas has a gifted offensive line, things are easier for them. Dak requires more time than Mahomes to succeed. That doesn't make Dak bad, it makes reality significant in the decisions the front office makes to position the offense for maximum success.

Look at the results when Dak has played with a cleaner pocket. He puts up some gaudy yards. And this is the crux about the Dak argument with me. Hurts stands in one of the cleanest pockets i can remember. Surely his ability to run the ball factors in, but the guy could play in a waste treatment pool and his uniform not get dirty.

Give Dak something close to this type of protection and the reality of an NFC Championship game is closer than most here suspect.

This is why I believe Guard is a premiere position to be selected because of the offensive lines under performance last season.

Fix the offensive line to gash the defense in rushing yards and passing yards and I believe Dak can get there.

It would be difficult to come up with a percentage, but i think if these things were to happen for this team, it might be close to 50/50.

How is the NFC weak?
No Rodgers
No Brady

the top NFC quarterbacks are Jalen Hurts by himself with Dak and Cousins a tier below him. After that there’s really nobody to fear

the AFC has Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lamar, Rodgers, Watson, Lawrence, Tua…..all capable of playing above or equal to Hurts

yes my friend, the NFC is the red headed stepchild waiting for a beating

Dak probably plays about 10 more years. He has a very good chance at winning the Super Bowl,

10 more years! :lmao:
Have a day off!
His body is already breaking down and he clearly regressed last season. Playing on a strong roster combined with a weak conference will likely buy him more time than he deserves.
How much longer he plays in the league depends how much longer he plays for the Cowboys. If he's offloaded before the start of the 2024 season then he wouldn't join a roster anywhere near as strong as the Cowboys in which case he would be exposed sharpish and out of the league very quickly thereafter unless he hangs around as a back up.

It would take a generational defense and the team to carry him. It would also take luck in terms of what team got through from the AFC should the Cowboys somehow reach the Superbowl. If the Chiefs, Jets or Bengals reached the Superbowl then I would give Prescott a 1% chance of winning to account for an injury to Mahomes, Rodgers or Burrow.
So in summary, probably around 0.5%.

NFC teams are just as good as the AFC. Y’all really scared of the Bengals and Chargers? Bills? Y’all scared of the Browns now? Wow.

Assuming a 5% chance (1:20) on any given year and Dak plays six more years here I have it as a 30% chance of winning a SuperBowl.
