First, outside of Dallas, very few would claim Martin is better than Decastro and he's a whopping 10 months older than Martin. And if you don't need him, why spend a 2nd round pick on a Guard that is just as "likely to be a bust" instead of going for the sure thing?

But despite how much people want to believe that their favorite players are always worth "at least a first round pick", reality has proven otherwise. BTW, when's the last time you've seen a team that was just an offensive guard away from winning the Super Bowl?

Several playoff caliber teams could use OL help. Every year. Just like many think we’re a great safety or a very good 1 tech from being a contender. As far as the Cowboys trading for Decastro, we have a tremendous amount of money wrapped up in our OL, which is already the best in the league. Only an idiot would think THIS team would trade for Decastro. Many other teams do need a player like him or Martin.

Did any of you consider they are paying Martin to upgrade Zeke?

They are foregoing a #1 WR that costs 10 mill plus, and compensating with the offensive line to grind the ball, which will free up the WR's who are on the cheap.

So this is either stupid, or brilliant. The results will dictate.

They’re paying Martin to upgrade/maintain the offense as a whole, along with the defense. This team is built for ball control which also benefits the defense.

By the way, Martin is pretty much universally considered the best guard in the NFL. End of story.

Well, wake me when some team offers a first round pick for any Guard looking to sign a veteran contract - then we'll talk.

They were just talking about this on the ticket at 11 am. A couple of peeps didn't like the idea of spending so much on an offensive line that wasn't even the best in the NFL

No offensive line is worth the Cap dollars we have tied up with ours. We're they the best in the NFL last season ?....NO....the problem most of you don't want to comprehend is Cap is a reality and the lack of it keeps our Defense weak and liable big time.
Think about this before you rush to throw your mud....with the exception of D-law and often injured Lee who is a guarantee on our defense?
And what happens if Lee is injured, or Jaylon doesn't improve and is simply what we saw last season a terrible LB?
Can our young Secondary survive our weak Def line?
The above is called the "big picture" and hoping a good to great offline and Zeke will lead us to the promise land on there own is voodoo NFL football.....Actually it's Jerry Jones football 24 years of misery....

I’ll bet my last dollar you weren’t saying this in 2014 and 2016 when the Oline was healthy and wreaking havoc with opposing defenses.

And how many Superbowls did we win in those years? One and Done as without a Defense it's pretty much the best a playoff team can accomplish......unless Tom Brady is your QB...

Look at my Signature photo...there Stands the road to greatness......

We just can't make the mistake of paying Zeke beyond a franchise tag.

How do the eagles have a great Oline and Dline. They managed to put together an elite Oline without spending as much as we did.

The 90s cowboys also had an elite Oline that was put together with cast offs and misfits

Yeah KC signed Hitchens Anthony Hitchens, signed a 5 year, $45,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, including a $14,000,000 signing bonus, $25,090,000 guaranteed.
Glad Dallas did not try to match it

Same here Doomsday. I liked Hitchens, but not 45 mil's worth.

RB peak at age 27. if he signs a 4 year deal after his rookie deal he would be 28 at the end of it. How would doing so be a mistake? You think he is going to get railroaded again?

Draft a running back and move on, easiest position to draft.

Well, according to some on here we need to stay away from elite players and just sign a bunch of average players at every position. You know, be fiscally responsible. LOL

There ya go. Fiscally responsible and 8-8. LOL
Spending wisely doesn't mean you can't spend at all. Zack Martin is a wise investment.

Yep. Zeke still has 3 years left under team control, so we'll see how he's doing at the end of that, but I can't imagine we'll let him walk.

Murray, we had no intention of re-signing him so we just rode him like a rented mule. He had 449 touches at the end of his 2014 season, which works out to a flat-out abusive 29 touches per game. The staff seems to be careful to not trash Zeke like that, which is why he gets so many breathers and drives off - he had 354 at the end of his rookie year, which is a little over 22 carries+catches a game. Time will tell, but the staff seems to be playing the long game with him. He's not just a rookie-contract rental that they're going to throw away.
