Zack Martin does not report to camp

Missing 8 games out of around 150 isn't bad at all. He is getting up there in age but I would pay him a decent amount more to keep him happy and for longer. 3-5 more million a year won't hurt the cowboys imo.
If Jerry caves, it sets a bad president.
That Zeke fiasco should have taught Jerry a lesson.

Zack is still a good player but he's pushing his luck at a time when this team is vying for their best roster in years. It's not a good look for sure. He'll possibly manage to wrangle a somewhat reluctant raise from Jerry but also isn't guaranteed of same. He may still manage to avoid the sweat and pains of TC, however, if his luck holds out. To me, it's a sad thing to see at this point in time. He'd do well to reconsider and get to camp.

It’s just business . Amazing how some fans are deterred by this aspect of the NFL.

The bigger question is do we believe Martin deserves to be paid as one of the top guards in the league?

That is misleading. Martin played all 17 games last season. And he played all 16 the year before.

So, the man has not missed a game in two seasons, and you want to point to the games he missed 3 years ago coming back from an injury? Seriously?

C'mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon.
Yea, and he’s arguably the most talented ( and only 1st ballot HOF)player per position on our offense and with the lone exception of probably Parsons he’s been the most talented player on our roster for years .

But his salary signed 5 years ago is outdated now and he most certainly deserves to be paid among the Elite at Guard.

He could be fined up to $50,000 a day. Teams often waive this.

can't be waived per new cba.

Assuming Tyron will miss miss significant time due to injury, do Cowboy fans really want to see this offense without Martin as well?

For the sake of argument how does this offense look without Martin? How does this impact our running game and the overall effectiveness of our passing game if running game is limited?

Yes, deducted by the Club from his paycheck

Read the bold words.

There's a reason why players disgruntled with their contract since the new CBA has been put in place report to camp and then get "injured" with some soft tissue injury.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...onger-a-bargaining-tool-for-todays-nfl-stars/

Training camp holdouts by players under contract are largely going to be a thing of the past because of more severe penalties in the 2020 NFL/NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Teams are required to fine players who aren't on rookie contracts $50,000 per day with training camp absences. Players on rookie contracts, like Adams, are subject to a $40,000 daily fine.

Under previous CBAs, the fines could be reduced or waived. Fine forgiveness or reduction is only allowed for players under rookie contracts, such as Adams, with the current CBA.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...jones-faces-non-waivable-daily-fine-of-50-000

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has dusted off the old-school way of getting more, despite the new-age costs associated with players under contract failing to show up for training camp. He’s staying away, and he’s apparently willing to pay.

Under Article 42, Section 1(b)(vi) of the 2020 CBA, Jones (as a player under his second contract with the Chiefs) faces a “mandatory fine of $50,000 per day.” And by “mandatory,” the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed that it will be mandatory.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any such fines shall be mandatory, and shall not be reduced in amount or waived by the Club, in whole or in part, but must be paid by the player or deducted by the Club as provided in Section 5(b) of this Article,” the CBA states.

The daily $50,000 clock starts on the reporting date and continues until the Sunday immediately preceding the first game of the regular season. That’s six weeks. That’s $2.1 million.
Jones clearly doesn’t care. He’s trying to get the kind of payday over the next few years that will dwarf $2.1 million. And even though the Chiefs can no longer waive the fines (teams used to quietly do just that), Jones can ask for enough to cover the fines, on top of whatever he wants.

It's pretty clear

What has Zach Martin done really. Add to that Tyron another hofer. Two hof level olinemen and 0 rings. In fact imagine at one time this offense had five hof level players all at once. Dez,romo, Martin, Tyron, written and 0 sb 0 nfc title games. So are they really hof level
He has played at a super bowl winning level.

Basing all players' worth on how far they go in the playoffs is beyond silly. You need new parameters!!!!!

Zack Martin was given an NFL record highest paid Guard ever contract extension back in 2018. With 2 years still left in that contract, Zack Martin is trying to pull a stunt for another record paid new contract extension at 33 years of age. If he misses all of training camp, I would be looking to trade him and send him and the rest of the team a message that such actions will not be tolerated.
Hes making a mistake. Maybe its the agent.

Laugh all you want. If Zack Martin keeps sitting out, I hope Jerry doesn't cave in and overpay him another record new contract extension at Zack's age.
I researched his 2018 deal. You are right. The guy is still fairly well paid. He is owed a big chunk in 2024 as well. This feels greedy. Its a terrible gamble by him at his age.

He is making a point to the clown show who are giving lesser players more money.

He will be in camp next week

When they get his money right.

Dont want a disgruntled OL talking crap in the locker.

They just need to fix his 2023 base pay.

Extend everything out and give him another bonus.

Maybe get him some financial planning advice too.
