This has been said a million times and I don't know why people don't get it??? The owners dump players and don't honor contracts they signed all the time. Why do the players have to be the only one who honors their word but the owners don't?
The contract is set up and worded as it is, and the player and his agent have a choice not to sign it. The players ”Union” has approved of this language and its nothing new.

If there is a violation of a contract there is a mechanism to seek legal remedy through arbitration as well as the court system

Ive stated this 2 Million times and I don’t know why some still can’t grasp this basic business concept?

Hey Barkley, when you're a great player in this league this is how you get a great deal done. You can bet this Cowboy isn't going to get the leftover scraps that you got when he's done eating....................

The contract was front loaded and he and his agent knew that and agreed to it. Hes been paid!

a Contract is a man’s word but I guess that’s old fashioned for some.

of course a society where 99 weeks of unemployment compensation was viewed as a “ career” I shouldn’t be surprised. The coddling and dumbing down of society is reaping what it sewed.
Thats a bunch of crap. We all know contracts are renegotiated all the time especially for the Elite players. It’s part of doing business in the NFL.

Right !!

It’s a two way street. And if we don’t think Martin is still valuable to our offense and success this year we can trade or dump him.

This is all part of doing business in the NFL. You are allowed to renegotiate contracts. They are allowed to dump you. And if a player feels holding out is needed to get the clubs attention. So be it…

I guess next these numnut fans will be calling for us to dump or trade our 1st Ballot HOFamer. Lol

Zack Martin was given an NFL record highest paid Guard ever contract extension back in 2018. With 2 years still left in that contract, Zack Martin is trying to pull a stunt for another record paid new contract extension at 33 years of age. If he misses all of training camp, I would be looking to trade him and send him and the rest of the team a message that such actions will not be tolerated.
I'd fine him the max amount every his misses camp. No more of this BS of holding out when you are under contract for 2 more years. What a load of crap, you signed the contract. There is security for injury and poor performance from signing a long-term deal, the flip side is you might feel under paid at some point if you stay healthy and perform well. You can't have it both ways, and the Cowboys have to hold firm or they are not going to have enough cap to field a top team. Caving into ZEKE was a huge mistake and now the Cowboys must show they have learned their lesson.

Of course not drafting a guard in the 2nd round like they should have just gives Martin all the more leverage, but I still won't give one inch to anyone holding out under contract, especially 2 more years.

I swear it is like people do not understand how contracts work. One party has certain rules they have to live by and the other party has certain aspects they have to live by. Those are not the same for each party! NFL teams always hold up their end of the contract 100% of the time - players do not!!!!!!!!

screw him. Hes under contract.... when he signed, he was paid handsomely. The team cant cave every time a player, "Outperforms," their contract.

Contracts are made to be renegotiated at some point . Especially for his caliber talent. Martin isn’t every player. He’s a 1st ballot HOFamer . This offense will suffer greatly without him.

Don’t worry. We will pay him and the seasons expectations will still be high. If not then all we will be waiting for is Tyron’s injury to officially end our hopes offensively.

He will be the highest paid guard here soon. Pay the man for performance. Right now he is 8th, grossly underpaid.
You dont pay every player each year based upon where they fit among the leagues players at his position. So a player has a huge year and now you redo his deal to reflect that in his pay??? He signed a deal and got big bucks up front.... he was probably the highest paid at that time. He is aware of what his age will be when his current deal ends, so he is holding the tea hostage while he still can. I seriously say screw him and let his arse sit. im not trading him, im just gonna let him sit, get fined and lose money.

The Cowboys will never do that . Why would we do that? Just to be vindictive and risk the cost to our offense . Why??

Elite players ultimately have the power to renegotiate. Not sure why fans are so distraught with it .Pay the man.

I researched his 2018 deal. You are right. The guy is still fairly well paid. He is owed a big chunk in 2024 as well. This feels greedy. Its a terrible gamble by him at his age.
Zack Martin is being super greedy. He's putting himself over what is best for the team while he's currently still getting paid very well ($14 mil/year). I hope Jerry doesn't cave in and pay him #1 overall pay with $20 mil/season once again like he did in 2018 when Zack Martin was much younger and in his prime.

What’s best for this team is him starting at RG.

If he doesn’t play what do you think the results will be?

His contract 5 years ago was front loaded. It’s not uncommon to renegotiate near end of contract especially if still playing at an Elite level.

We know Tyron will go down at some point. We really want to see this offense without both of them ? Not sure everyone has thought this through.

With QB's making 40-50 million I have become indifferent to players holding out and asking for more money. I don't expect to win a SB with our current QB so what does it matter!

And we’ll see how much impact Martins absence is on our running game and offense , especially once Tyron goes down .

Don’t think fans are thinking this thru . Pay the man or suffer the consequences this year.

I've said this many times in here. Someone on NFLN said it better than I. A bad contract is one where you're paying someone for what they did in the past. A good contract is paying someone for what they'll do in the future.

I just meant I was indifferent to him holding out- just pay him and be done with it. I know he is important but we still won't win anything with lead feet as our QB!

Regardless whatever you or I believe , that’s not a complete given and why we play the games .But if we truly want to heighten our opportunities we need Martin.

And “ winning anything “ is a vague description. We actually have won with him. It’s just been limited success which has at least provided the opportunity for more success.
