15 carries per game for that guy? Why not just flush the entire offense down the toilet.

I don't know. Our running game wasn't all that effective last year and Pollard still averaged almost 15 carries per game.

The only thing I like about the Zeke signing (although I would have preferred going younger and fresher) is that if McCarthy is going to use a running attack that tries to pound between the tackles, he's better built for that than Pollard. I feel we badly misused Pollard last year. Both Elliott and Freeman better fit what we tried to do with the run last year, although neither will be a threat to break big runs like Pollard was.
I think 15 carries is probably the average of all RB carries with the bulk of those going to Rico untill he's hurt. But we'll see how things shake out.

I don't think McCarthy wants to be that pass heavy. We averaged 25 carries a game last year and I'd expect that number to be similar this year.

Our running game wasn't all that effective, but we stuck with it and continued to pound Pollard between the tackles.

I just don't see Rico going from a back who has a max of 89 carries in a season to getting the bulk of the carries.

PATHETIC FRANCHISE
What other choice did we have? He put up almost 650 yards with 3 TDs in a limited role to go along with 51 catches for just over 300 yards with 2 TDs. Those numbers were way better than Dowdle plus he’s still an excellent blocker. Not to mention he was a cheap signing.

Zeke is definitely better than anyone on the current roster. He is also better at pass protection than anyone on the current backfield group.

I get that everyone wanted Dallas to draft a RB but truth is no one had this as a good RB group in the draft except for Brooks and regardless of what anyone wanted they were never going to draft one in the 1st round. Brooks had ACL surgery in November and if the naysayers remember that Pollard had the same type of injury in January of 2023 and he was in no way the same back during 2024 until probably the last few games. Brooks will likely be on the PUP list to start the season and then see his playing time and want to know how good he will be with Carolina, maybe ask Bryce Young how good the OL was in protecting him.

And Brooks was probably only true starter out of the bunch drafted. Have to see how Zeke works out for us with the revamped line.

Zeke can still be an asset. His days as a lead back are gone and hopefully the Cowboys find a way to get a legit RB 1 here somehow.

Looking forward for 20 Carries for 60 Yards
That is exactly what Jerry is hoping Zeke can bring. If he can stay healthy, play in17 games and rush for 60 yards. Jerry will be able to announce "see Zeke rushed for over 1,000 yards. I'm still a football genius."

Something left? He has nothing left. He’s had nothing left for several years. Pass protection is his only value at this point which is laughable.
He had 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year with no QB in NE.

Im fine with this. He’s not an RB1 anymore but I think he still has something left. Hes a cowboy. Not sure why people hate Zeke now.
As long as the coaching staff can agree that he's not THE guy, then I'm fine with him being back

I guess i’m okay with this as long as it is only for 2024 to plug a gaping hole. There isn’t much better out there at this point since Dallas didn’t address RB through free agency or the draft. I just hope this wasn’t their plan all along but I suspect it was

1000 yards per year meant something 20 years ago. Now it means 58 yards per game. Yip Dee do.
Perfect for a RB by committee. No reason to have a RB that gets 350 carries and pay them $10M a year.

Have 2 RB's that get 175 carries and pay them a combined $4M a year.
