Actually, Fisher has excellent sources. But sources can be wrong, too.

I believe him on this. The Cowboys probably already know the ruling, as does Zeke.

Personally, I believe this was negotiated.

I sure as hell hope it wasn't negotiated.

Jerry should let it play out and if it's one or two games appeal it, play against the Giants and take your medicine later.

You've got the Broncos, Cardinals and Rams next three games and he should stick it to Mara any way he can.

A lot of rumors saying 6-8. It's ridiculous but it's the NFL and a Giants fan ran investigation. Interested to see how hard Jerry fights this (if true).

I'm going to cut against my earlier statements here.

As wrong as I think that length of suspension would be. I can completely see that. Because..............

1st media question for Goodell, "With a 4 game suspension is the NFL saying that Domestic abuse is equivalent to deflating a football?"

/drops mic

Politically, in the aftermath of deflategate you can't go less that 4 games with a DV suspension. If you go 4 games you're creating the optics of equivalency between DV and deflating a football. So..............

(basically we're screwed)

If it's true, the NFL better have some damning evidence no one else has seen. I hate for that to be the case though. It's ugly either way. Either he's going to get suspended for nothing, or it comes out he's truly a mess of a person.

If the league suspends him... I am done with the NFL.

As stated in another thread, I'm thinking is going to be one of those 2-4 game variety that's cut in half by appeal. Also, it sounds like the suspension is def coming under league domestic violent policy which is interesting coz they are apparently drawing the line.......Domestic violent by law vs Domestic violent in the court of public opinion. Since legal authorities have ALREADY decided there's not enough evidence to meet prosecutorial standards ( charges filed), Goodell and company apparently are saying that may be true, however it doesn't mean NOTHING HAPPEN. This is where the league need to be real careful IMO coz its going directly inside private relationships of players and saying We will decide whether or not an dispute/argument gets out of hand. Other words, if the bar is set too low, they may find themselves with a ton cases similar to Zeke.

Ezekiel Elliott suspension expected

It may come Friday, it could be bumped into next week. Regardless of the timing, the prevailing view in league circles is that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will be suspended under the Personal Conduct Policy.

One league source characterized an Elliott suspension as “definite.” The specific duration of the suspension isn’t known, however.

The Cowboys open the regular season with games against the Giants, Broncos, Cardinals, Rams, and Packers.

Earlier this week, Cris Carter said on FS1 that a suspension is coming, and that the suspension will be accompanied by evidence of domestic violence, and possibly by proof that Elliott destroyed evidence in connection with the investigation. Carter suggested that the punishment will be in the range of the four-game suspension imposed on Patriots quarterback Tom Bradyin 2015.

Elliott is accused of five incidents of domestic violence over a six-day period in July 2016. Last Thursday night, appearing in the NBC booth during the Hall of Fame game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggested that a suspension could be imposed for unspecified incidents other than the domestic violence claim.

In March, Elliott was videotaped pulling a woman’s top down at a St. Patrick’s Day parade. More recently, he allegedly broke a DJ’s nose at a club in Dallas.

Jones consistently has claimed that he has seen no evidence of domestic violence. Two weeks ago, he described a decision on Elliott’s status as “imminent.”

Friday traditionally represents a day on which organizations dump bad news into the public eye, believing that it will get less attention during the weekend than early in a work week. That theory may not apply as strongly during the first full weekend of the NFL preseason, given that games will be broadcast on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — including a nationally-televised rematch of last year’s memorable (for a preseason game) Cowboys-Rams game at the L.A. Coliseum on Saturday night.

With a growing expectation that a decision is coming Friday, the league easily could decide to hold the announcement until early next week. Either way, at this point the only lingering mystery is the number of games Elliott will miss, and whether his inevitable internal appeal will have a chance of prevailing.

There’s also a possibility that Elliott will challenge the suspension in court, seeking a temporary injunction that would block the suspension until the litigation is resolved. While such lawsuits rarely succeed, Elliott could be able to cobble together enough of a case to persuade a judge to let him play while the court system considers the merits of his claims.

I don't think it wiill come to play but if NFL god wanted to it could easily be 8-10 games. Six for DV and 2-4 for conduct detrimental to the league.

If we are buying the reports coming now, he's not getting suspended under the DV situation, it's simply conduct unbecoming.

A Zeke suspension was evident when Jerry clearly pointed out the league investigation involved numerous incidents, not only the domestic violence case. That changed the game....

Still not dismissing this as weak reporting and alot of parroting. But after the night club I quit hoping the problem would simply go away. It still enrages me this day has come. To be clear the only reason this suspension is being administered is because the nfl conveniently kept this case open for long enough to throw in a couple of EXTRA minor incidents and roll them all together in order to justify the bs ruling. Had this investigation closed in a timely manner Zekes summer mishaps alone wouldnt have been enough for suspension.

Brady wasn't suspended for deflating footballs.

Yes, I generally trust Fisher more than most of the guys out there. The only thing I thought was stupid was Fisher claiming that the NFL could suspend EE for as long as they want to and I tried to explain to him that wasn't true because of the CBA. He kept telling me that I didn't see the big picture...but the reality is that if the NFL gives EE more than 6 games, it will go to a mediator and be dropped to no more than 6 games per the CBA.
