Zeke's rookie year

Posted for the very real possibility that the Cowboys could be featuring another 1st round RB next season.

The impact is undeniable.

This is how we have to win as long as we have this QB. Dominant run game but with a better defense than what we fielded in 2016.

lets not forget an elite OL. we had Tyron, Fred, Martin on the line. that's 3 first round picks. two HOFers.

Man, that 2016 team was fun to watch.

Thought it was going to be the start of a dominant run. Turned out it was a little spottier than that.

Zeke put up Jeanty level stats against Oregon and Alabama. He was insane.

He was 6'0" 227 and ran a 4.47... my guess is that Jeanty runs something in the 4.4s at 215. Just not in the same league as Zeke from a size-speed combo. And Zeke's tape was the gold standard for pass blocking as a RB. I'm not sure if there's been a college RB that mature in pass pro before Zeke or since.

Zeke was a freaking awesome prospect. Jalen Ramsey was an attractive option at #4 too, because he was one of the top 2 or 3 CB prospects of that entire decade, and his NFL career has proven that evaluation totally correct. Ronnie Stanley was another all-decade kind of LT prospect, and he too has played like it. But Zeke was that caliber of RB too.

Him and Saquon were probably the best RB prospects of the 2010s. Fournette and Gurley absolutely had that kind of talent, but they both came with health concerns.

I think Jeanty measures up pretty closely to Bijan Robinson. Bijan was a hell of a RB prospect, but would you draft him over Ohio State Zeke?

Draft Henderson in the 3rd round. 2nd if necessary.

Question for the smart people in the room: who was a better prospect coming out of college? Zeke or Jeanty?

I think it's close. I think Zeke was a bit more of a bruiser, but he was a complete back. Jeanty is very similar, but he's more of a Tomlinson/Barkley-type back. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I think in terms of prospects predraft, the edge goes to Zeke. In terms of ability for longevity, I think the edge goes to Jeanty.

Ya know what made this team good? A mobile(rollout passing), running QB....Dak is not either of those

Zeke has always been a straight line guy, so was Murray. It's been a LONG time since we had a guy who can make defenders miss.

... I think that the weirdest thing that comes out of this,.. is how fast he fell off the grid.

Been saying this for two years. It’s the only thing that saves them from making Dak throw the ball 40 times. When that happens we lose. Interceptions and he gets injured. They are really stupid. Like draft a freaking RB already!!!

4 of the top 10 rushers this past season were FA’s with Barclay #1 going for 2k, and Henry 2nd at over 1,800. One of them was a rookie in Bucky Irving who was taken in the 4th right around our Lance pick….

Lets bring Garrett back while were at it

They have to hit on running back to win with Dak. Jeanty is great candidate. Also Hampton and Johnson. I think that they should draft 2 running backs. One in the 1st two rounds and 1 in the 5th.

Who would really be shocked if Jerry signs Zeke for a third time next season?

Zeke was a great RB no question- but selecting him #4 overall was one of the biggest mistakes in recent history.

Without trading down, the other option was Ramsey. I dont think Ramsey changes the dynamics of the team like the impact Zeke had.

The Cowboys have never won a Super Bowl championship without a great RB.
