Zimmer Lovers-

I just don't think BP will fire Zimmer. Zimmer has done everything BP has asked of him. BP asked him to get his ace somewhere and learn the 3-4 and he did it. Now BP will ask him to come up with a flashy style blitz package and Zimmy will do it.

Zimmer will not come up with a good blitz package. His blitzs are easier to read then a pop warner coaches.

Once again, more thoughtful, logical and intelligent bashing.

Kudos.

Give our D some time. They are young and learning a new system. We will add some missing peices and wrinkles in 06.

We better or I'm holding you accountable.....:)

I disagree Pittsburgh has
Defense
DE 91 A.Smith 7years
NT 98 C.Hampton 5 years
DE 67 K.von Oelhoffen 12 years
LOLB 53 C.Haggans 6 years
LILB 51 J.Farrior 9 years
RILB 50 L.Foote 4 years
ROLB 55 J.Porter 7 years
LCB 24 I.Taylor 3 years
FS 28 C.Hope 4 years
SS 43 T.Polamalu 3 years
RCB 26 D.Townsend 8 years

They have alot of youth in the secondary and other positions mixed with vetrans just like us

yeah you are rigiht, but that's why I think BP will force him to learn.

Yes it is amazing.....why our D can't put together a few blitz packages that work. It just boggles my old brain cells.
I think there's a huge difference between our LBs and theirs. I hate to stir the pot, but I also see a huge difference between Roy and Palamalu, especially the slot in which they were drafted.

Man I dont know that the Steelers have more Talent. Possibly more experience but I dont know about Talent.

Not intending to debate you....but is it because we don't have the LB's or is it the coaching, scheme, or lack of creativity?
Good ? Cb, but no one is going to confuse Joey Porter with Fajita....

You sound like my ole lady shhheeeeesssshhhh:D

We will be a monster D with a few more moves I promise.:)

Some people say we need this or that on Defense. And our defense will be good.

I say we do NOT need Mike Zimmer.....what we need is Dom Capers and our defense will be one of the best.

I wouldn't mind that at all, but will they pull the trigger on Zimmy?

I love Roy but Palamalu is a better all around SS. He makes plays (int) in the passing game not just knock the snot out of WR and TE

Nobody would even know who Palamalu was if Mike Zimmer was his DC.

Funny, to me this seems like one of the most talented defenses the Cowboys have had in the last decade.

Depth and talent at both end spots and a nose tackle who seem to be able to hold his own on most occasions.

Linebackers were hurt by injuries, but don't tell me Ware, Bradie James weren't any good. Fowler, Shanle and Fujita were decent enough.

One of the best five secondaries in football. Newman should have been a pro-bowler, Roy was and should be even better, Henry was very good while healthy and Glenn might have been one of the better nickle backs in football this year.

Pittsburgh are constantly losing guys, hell they played most of last year with a 290 NT, but always seem to find people to fill those holes and get it done.

I agree a Huge difference.....and futhermore, not just Roy, shall we say big difference in the safeties as well.

Players make all the difference and we simply didn't have the right players at LB for the 3-4 last year. Fujita was average at best at OLB and Nguyen is undersized to play in the 3-4 as well. Singleton is getting long in the tooth and I'm not sure he'll be back either. Burnett wasn't ready to contribute from day one with all his nagging injuries, and Shanle and Fowler are backups at best.

Well, isn't the 3-4 Parcells' baby? Isn't he at least somewhat accountable?

Here's hoping we can correct the personnel problem this offseason. We need to be able present the total package if we are to be successful

Love if our Cowboys played defense like the Steelers and Pats. Maybe in 2nd year playing this system, we will be more innovative & aggressive in mixing up the plays, etc. Parcells did say in TC that the coaching staff can only teach the defensive players so much of the new defense before it overwhelms them & don't forget we were playing with 5 rookies in the group so we had to keep it basic/simple. He also concerned at get-go that we didn't have enough vet experience at LB which is why he traded for Fujita end of preseason.

But like you I think Zimmer is more of a read and react coach then an aggressive coach like Steelers & creative like Pats. But it would appear we stuck with Zimmer (with Parcells looking over his shoulder) so we will see what happens. Would sure like to know if we at least half way there in learning 3-4 system or do we still have lots to go. If we sign a vet FA LB, sure hope we can get one experienced in playing in 3-4. Does anybody know if such players are FAs this year?

BTW: Day or so ago someone posted to this board his idea that Gibbs had done better job coaching Skins in 2 seasons then had Parcells. I agree only to the point that Gibbs was smart enough, and willing to admit to himself, that he wasn't a defensive coach & go out and hire Greg Williams as DC. Gibbs' offense coaching job wasn't anywhere near same level as Williams (except when they played us). And Gibbs did keep his team focused enough to win 5 straigh end of season games to make the playoffs.
