Whether you like Dak or not

I'd rather win a SB now and stink in 8 years. So be it.

I was lucky to see all 3 90's championships. The feeling at that time was euphoric. If someone told the teenage/20 yr old me that I can have a SB for every 10 years of never seeing even an NFC Championship game...I would have said, give me 3 please. Maybe throw in the 1994 season as well.

Maybe that's just me.
You are not going to win a SB now. Not with the amount of holes you have on this team and how this team overrates and overhypes it's own talent. Those 90s teams were great because of 1 thing - the accumulation of talent across the roster - especially in the trenches. We focus on Emmitt but forget how good that offensive line was, we forget how good the defensive front was. Considering the holes we have on both sides of the ball how do you propose to fix this in a single offseason?

You blaming me because you can't hit a tab that says "show more"? Are you in grade school, because that's the only acceptable excuse.
Ooooooooh, the little personal attack!!!!!

If you're so dense that you cannot see that there is a reason you didn't show 23 and 24, then the grade school thingie, back 'atchya!!!!!! Don't cherry pick if you don't want to be called out for it. Weak stuff, dude.

Not possible to be a super bowl contender in 25. Too bad Jerry is too dumb to realize it.

So I guess Burrows, Allen, Love, etc are similar albatross for their teams along with a couple more this year and at least 5 rookies will be in 2 more years all of which will top Dak's contract. Other than Mahomes who probably wins at least 2 to 4 more Super Bowls over the next 7 years means their will be about 10 to 15 albatross for those teams by your logic.

The problem is how the Jones handle the cap. Appears the Chiefs and Eagles aren't concerned about money down the road. And also, if the Eagles and Chiefs defenses weren't really good then neither team would have been in the Super Bowl this year.
If they show Dak's fragility in needing pretty everything to go right (whilst commanding elite money), then yes they are albatrosses.

The fact that everyone of them has exceeded Daks post season achievements is immaterial.

Should never give a 30+ year old such a high CAP%, especially if he isn't the difference maker.

Spend money in FA on DT (M. Williams from Philly not Osa), draft DT (early and in mid rounds...deep talented class), FA address LB, draft a LB, draft a RB in 2nd or 3rd round deep draft. I also bargin shop for an EDGE in FA (someone like a Chase Young) high risk high reward guy that won't cost much to be in rotation with Sam Williams.

Last, I gamble on Steffon Diggs to be a solid WR2 while hoping the young guys develop as well. If they can land a Savion Williams in the 3rd then do it.

This gives the team youth and young experienced players in the offseason. That at minimum makes them a competitive playoff team. But, if they don't use any of the $100M in cap space and extend Micah before FA, then they will be doomed to repeat 2024. They have to spend money whether folks or they like it or not. Sports is always an arms race. Don't get involved if that is not your cup of tea.

How cohesive will it be? That's anyone's guess.

Oh com'onnnnnn. Jerry is a bottom 5 GM. Dak is a middle of the pack QB, somewhere in the 8-15 range. That is not even close.
Jerry is a Bottom 5 NFL GM and #1 Sports Franchise Owner in the world for the last decade.

Jerry is 82 and what he's been doing has worked spectacularly for him. He's not in the sports trophy business, he's in the sports entertainment business. He is what he is, and is probably well into diminished capacity of what he is. He's not getting better at anything, and his berserk fit on the radio this year indicates he's heading for his Late Al Davis era.

It's not a good time to be a Cowboy Fan if you like football.
Maybe a great time if you like football in the same way as people like pro wrestling.

His contract has never been the albatross that the Joneses made it out to be. We need to keep the pressure on the real source of the problem, the Joneses.

I like the person, but hate his play!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll leave it at that..............

Well, there is now light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, the light is falling completely apart.

While it hasn't been the problem, being what it is doesn't help any potential change going forward. I would venture a guess the Cowboys are between 27 and 32 in spending this year
That’s a decision based on Jerry and not the cap. He could spend. He probably can’t buy 4-5 quality FA but he could sign a stud or two and fit it in the cap with Micah who will get cheaper if signed, lamb and Dak

LOL, LOL, You really believe Jerry THOUGTH Dak was worth $60M????
Jerry knows Dak isn't worth $60M. The problem is he was too lazy to reset the position with a new QB. It's not hard to see.......Jerry could have made Dak the highest-paid QB at $56M ( $1M more than Burrow ) but instead gave him exactly what he was asking to avoid the hassles and stress of wondering if he would sign.
Hell, I'm 100 confident Dak knows he isn't worth $60M but if Jerry's going to pay it, I'll take it. I'm sure sometime after he is done playing, Dak will admit he would have taken $56M if Jerry had held his ground.
56 million would have still been 50 million more than Dak deserves

I think it has been made clear the Joneses do not believe in spending on free agents, regardless of the CAP situation. They have said as much repeatedly claiming that free agents are overpaid. Every year they find a free agent or two that costs them close to the minimum. They are completely inactive for the first 2 weeks of free agency. It has nothing to do with Dak.

But it is interesting that the OP does not include Dak's 2025 CAP hit of just under $90 million. That of course is going to hurt the Cowboys ability to spend in free agency. But it starts with their own guys. The Cowboys have a few free agents I am sure they would retain if not for the CAP. Guys like Lawrence, Lewis, Odighizuwa I am sure would be re-signed if not for the CAP. Signing Dak at a $90 million CAP hit is going to hurt. At some point, either this year or next if they restructure him again.

But unlike teh Eagles who are in a position to win multiple Super Bowls, the Cowboys are a long way from contending, which is why they should not be mortgaging their future now. Once they get closer to a winning team they can go all in.
Yep, this is a front office philosophy that predates Dak and likely will continue after him, considering the Stephen Jones will be running the team. As has been written multiple times, it goes back to overpaying Brandon Carr and him being a good but not great player. Carr was kind of the last straw for the staff, other players like Marco Riviera contributed to the philosophy change.

Dak's $90 million for this year probably wasn't included because we don't know what his actual hit will be. His contract was set up for the base to be restructured this year, creating quite a bit of cap space.

No.
And I noticed that you left out all *future* years.
I compared the future to the past in another post.
Big difference. And that's the relevant part of the analysis.
The relevant part of the analysis is the years that the Joneses have sat on their hands and not added any meaningful free agents to this roster. WHEN WILL THE FUTURE BE NOW IN DALLAS like it is in SF, Philly, Detroit and KC to name a few. We've been planning on the future for 20 years or so, the Joneses probably have the perfect plan in place for the 2030 season....but in 2030 they'll be planning for 2035.....and then in 2035........
