News: TLH: Is trading Dak Prescott a solution for the Dallas Cowboys?

In a non exclusive franchise tag if a team signs him they owe 2 1st round picks. There isn't negotiating for that. That's why the Cowboys do that and hope a team goes for him. Also, reading the post here it appears to some posters he's worth 10 1st round picks.
It’s typical for Homers to hold their guy in much higher esteem than the rest of the league.

I love the people who bash Dak, say he wants too much and isn’t worth it but we could get two 1st’s for him

I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe we got a mid to late round first and a third or two but even that’s a stretch IMO.

Can anybody on this forum read? Anyone?

Jesus people. Let me try this for the 5th time...

Non-exclusive franchise tag: This is the most commonly used tag. When commentators colloquially refer to the "franchise tag" they are generally talking about the non-exclusive version. This is a one-year tender offer for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position over the last five years, or 120 percent of his previous salary, whichever is greater. The player can negotiate with other teams. The player's current team has the right to match any offer, or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation if he signs with another organization.

There is a very good chance no team is willing to give 2 1st round picks up. I get that, but what I'm saying is THE COWBOYS SHOULD GIVE HIM THE NON-EXCLUSIVE AND PREY LIKE HELL SOME TEAM IS DESPERATE ENOUGH TO GIVE HIM AN OFFER...Does this make sense now?

I just don't get why people say Wentz and Goff are better than Dak. Not on paper they're not.

That would make Dak a Paper Champion.

“ better than Dak”
Is such a subjective description. What does that mean exactly.
Better QB, better passer, better stats, more success ??

ok but what team is giving up assets for dak and then paying him huge money that actually makes sense and is not just wishful thinking?

That's the point: it's likely no team would, and that would bring Dak & agent back to the table with more realistic expectations.

That's not actually a "trade". The Cowboys don't initiate trade talks or negotiate trade terms. It's another team making an offer to a free agent but with some restrictions.

What difference does that make? Either other teams approach with offers or they don't. That's the whole point of "testing free agency" - see what interest - if any - is out there.

I don't either, but I think agent and client could use a dose of reality during these 'negotiations'. I'd give them by blessing to see what they could get out there.

I'm confident that they'd shut up and make a deal with the Cowboys pretty quickly.

But this organization seldom, if ever has the guts to do that.

Meanwhile, the Patriots are doing that exact thing with the greatest quarterback of all time. With no tag at all.

Guts vs no guts.
nah much different this isnt 26yr old Brady , you know it.. not even close to a possible up and comer in dak who last season played better then TB and hes what 20yrs younger? the Pats were wiling to go separate ways due to age vs price 2 yrs ago and move forward with JG but it got squashed by ownership not named Jones lol . we still have options with FT in Dak and for the right price would keep him..the fact we are here is because Daks agent is playing hardball asking for a lot more then hes worth while the likes of Brady and Brees gave hometown discounts when they could have got 35 each..its a matter of perspective to where their careers are..

Well, then Jerry and Stephen know he's not worth what he's asking for and you pay him the average of the top 5 salaries for two years and then boot him to the curb.
Time to play hardball for a change.

That could be more than what he's willing to take in guaranteed salary. Kind of silly to go that route.

It's almost a guarantee that he's going to get somewhere on average of 35mil per year. His agent won't commit him for less. The numbers now are years and total
guaranteed money in the deal.

Which will probably make Dak the highest paid QB in the league.

Amazing we have fans who actually believe Dak should be the highest paid in the NFL.

Id be curious what the rest of the leagues fan think:)

Good enough that another team will give up multiple 1st round picks, but not good enough to extend? That literally makes no sense.
You have misinterpreted my words.

I didn’t say extend . I said make him the highest paid QB.

High enough to offer 1st round picks and or make him one of the highest paid QB’s?
He may be the highest for a short period, but do you remember when Wentz and Goff signed? The place went silly, no it's mediocre salary. Wait until the top 5 QBs get signed.

It does matter. Regardless how long it is.

Even some of his most ardent supporters don’t believe he should be the highest paid QB.

He should get paid. Just not what he wants. Because he’s not top 5.
