If they pay him $33 million, $105 million guaranteed, then don't spend another cap dime on offense, spend the rest of the cap on defense. If he is as good as he thinks he is, he and Zeke can carry the offense. No more top O-line, no top receivers, sign Witten to a minimum. Dak and Zeke can handle it all.

Since it's the off-season and we cannot seem to reach the Dak Prescott thread limit, I thought it would be fun to get a general summary of what everyone thinks.

As usual, I do not provide an "easy way out" option that most people would quickly choose such as "I want him back just not at that rate" because that's irrelevant and not realistic.

Let's just assume most fans would want him back for a low amount ..

So, the next question is, do you want Dak back at the rumored amount offered?

The #1 issues affecting the negotiations is the term of the agreement. If you could find the answer to that, I would be very impressed.

But I can say that I would sign him for 3 years or 7 years for that price either way.

I disagree that he beat Dak, though. The Eagles beat the Cowboys. But if we use that logic of the QB being responsible head to head, then overall Dak has been more impressive. And as far as weapons, Dak's were on the sideline when it mattered most. With a coaching staff like that, what Dak has accomplished so far is even more impressive. He should've just left Wentz out of the conversation, IMO.

Has he? Wentz is hurt way too much for my taste but if I look at both objectively, Wentz has played at a higher level IMO. He has played at an MVP level prior to injury, he clearly outplayed Dak in a win or go home situation last season and with less talent around him. I'm not so sure I would say that it's as open and shut as you lay out above.

Absolutely!

Pay Dak his $35 million/$110+ guaranteed. He's earned it. Plus, he's our best option by far.

If the Cowboys refuse to pay him now, Dak is going to cost soooooo much more by season's end (2020) after Coach McCarthy helps Dak perform even better under his pro-QB system.

Pay now or suffer the consequences later. Take your pick Cowboys.
May I just say...Hail YES!!!! Without the ELL!!!

I'm in between. I like Dak, like his leadership. I just don't think he's an elite. I believe he has an elite team around him.
I, therefore, say, "no." Franchise him and start looking for a new quarterback. If we franchise him, we can also explore trading him or a team could sign him and cough over two No. 1s, which I doubt. But that would be on the table.

Romo didn't choke? :lmao: Uhhh, he was nicknamed Chokemo for a reason.

When has Dak choked? Name any games.

I think you've got the players confused.
You mean like game ending interceptions and fumbling a snap . Or making poor throws that cost us.

Chokes can come in different ways like getting off to slow starts putting us in early deficits difficult to overcome or over throwing a receiver that cost a TD or potential scoring opportunity.

At some point regardless if we can directly blame Dak for losing he needs to be why we are winning some of these big games to reach the playoffs or move on in playoffs. You know .. a big signature win that changes our course in history.

Philly last season? We would've been in the playoffs. Against any teams with winning records basically.
In our 8 losses we only averaged 15 points a game. In 3 of those losses didn’t score a TD. And we weren’t able to over come a single Game after falling behind 7 points or more.

But yet Dak is the only one who could have led us to this wonderful season?

We worry about what we are without him. But what are we with him??

And why I’d Tag him for 27 million. Let’s see what Fat Mikey can do with him . If not any better. Let’s move on. We can lose and hover around .500 with many others for a lot less.

It's easy to pick the worst season, but the truth is he has averaged 10 wins per season. The other truth is a QB is not solely responsible for wins and losses.
Not sure how you can applaud the team wins in one breath while discounting his importance to them in another?

Will anyone care if we’re still not making playoffs or sputtering around .500?

Or is simply watching Dak play regardless the results worth the price of admission? Kinda reminds me of the Romo crush.

I'm not applauding, just clarifying the facts and pointing out that the poster wasn't being fair or realistic. The point I was making is that It's not fair to hold a QB solely responsible for a team's record, but if you are going to insist on doing so anyway, at least be fair as to what the record is.

I'm there with you. I'm not sold on Dak either way, so for him to hold out would be better for the team (long term). Sign a stop gap and draft a QB. Dak can be our stop gap this season. Tag him @ 27 and see what MM can do with him. If he turns a corner, we can trade our 1st RD QB.
