I'm not wrong. Having one more pro bowl caliber player on the OL did not result in any success. Pretty sure thats not debatable coming off an 8-8 season.

Sure. When you attempt to ignore everything else. Good job.

Seriously. These guys look at the skill positions and salivate while, just a hop, skip and a jump ago Dak got sacked over 50 times when his OL was in disarray.
How do you get your skill players the ball while Dak is on the ground?
Dak could help with the sacks if he had one ounce of pocket pressure.

No worries:

It's not clear as to whether the Jets want a premium pick and a premium starter in Collins, who is signed to a long-term contract and, in the Cowboys' view, has a Pro Bowl future ahead of him. And frankly, there isn't much clarity at all regarding the veracity of the story in general.

But this we can offer: "That's a non-story,'' a source close to the situation tells CowboysSI.com.

We cannot envision a scenario in which the Cowboys swap a young star (Collins is 26) who projects to play a key position (he's the right tackle now but could someday follow Tyron as the left tackle - one of the game's most important jobs) for a safety ... especially as part of a package.

The Cowboys aren’t about to deal Collins.

I know we have more talent than KC. Tfred wasn't very good last year and Dak did fine. ......according to all who want to sign him.
Better than Looney, he did. And now let's just demolish the OL.

The more I've thought about it, the more I'm inclined to agree with your position. Trading la'el would just create too many problems on the o-line. So no adams for me.
You are the best of us.

Maybe without the pick if Adams signs a deal before the trade.

1st or sign him in FA next year.

La'el is under contract for 5 years and is a pro bowl quality RT. For 1 year of Adams who the Jets don't want to sign? And a draft pick too!?!

Absurd.

La'el Collins graded as the 8th best offensive lineman in the league, and the 3rd best tackle. And he's on a good contract. I wouldn't even trade him straight up for Adams much less add draft capital.
How much more cap sucking players can we afford?

The defense has been addressed as much as it is going to get for now.

Seems to me we will have to see what we have done so far with FA signings and draft picks.

After some time has passed we should be able to sign 1 or 2 hits more to help us depending on position.

There is so much uncertainty we have to stop thinking some magic pill is going to magically make it all end happily.

This team is going to have to suffer some adversity before we know if we have the character needed to win.

The last 4 years + has been a big fat zero.

PFF had him graded as the third best tackle, not just RT. And I have no idea how you think he disappointed. He had one down year learning a new position, but besides that has been really good.

One good year isn't enough for me to say he is better than an All pro safety that has had multiple pro bowls in his short career playing for the worst team in the NFL.

I like Collins, and I love his salary, but to think a RT that has had one great/good year is more valuable then the best SS in football is a little over the top. I believe Adams is also 24 and Collins is 27?

Not to mention we have good young prospects on the Oline already on the team. So its not like we have no one to put in there.

I believe Collins is a quality starter, but far from an elite one. You cannot say that about Adams. Positional value probably favors RT, but the team does have legitimate options in-house.

Center, LT, RT. Actually never heard anyone say that RT had positional value.

This is real close, and I hear you, although probably moot.

Him plus high picks, I gotta turn it down.

As far as are we a better team with say, Williams at RT and Adams at S, maybe, and it's close, but I draw the line at the picks because they are maybes.

La'el isnt a maybe, and already losing an OL starter pushes me to say no.

the last thing we need to do is decimate the o-line this team spent so much time building.

They don't adjust to players that are not on the team...

The concept is "don't bypass a player in the draft that is the BPA but that does not fit the scheme". MM prefers to adjust the scheme instead of bypassing the best player available.

Trading a 1st, 3rd and giving up huge cap space for Adams is basically the opposite of that concept.

Teams that 'must have" specific players for their scheme are the teams most likely to give up both premium picks AND huge cap space for a player.

Acquisition via draft or trade is an acquisition.

If Cowboys traded for Adams, Nolan better know how to make this exceptional playmaker "fit".

Williams at RT is a maybe as well. We don't know how well he would perform there.
