Offer will go up next year. Daks agent will want 40 and we will offer 37-38.

That is possible. However, at that point we will know, which is what we want anyway.
Yeah I think if we have a great season. Meaning the SB or championship game then Dak will get his money. Hard to do when it’s the first year for a new HC and new Offense. Maybe a tag again..

No need to offer anything. Just tag him again. But a lot can happen between now and then.
Yep. Maybe waiting to see how he does in the new Offense and with MM. Everything should be ok. Lots of weapons. Wonder if he is gonna run WCO.

Do we need more team success to validate his contract demands?

4 years hasn’t been long enough for us to evaluate if we want to resign him?

If Jerry, who typically overpays for his own, wont give in to Prescotts demands, why would another team trade a significant draft pick for the privilege of being in the same bad spot?

That was my point yesterday. They blew any shot they had at getting anything for him by using the exclusive tag.

That's the magic of opening up the bidding to the league instead of just one team.

The highest bid out of 32 is most likely higher than the highest bid of 1.

The exclusive tag would have just opened up the bidding earlier. They can open the same bidding now, with the team in control of the bidding. We were never going to get 2 firsts for Dak regardless.

We were gonna give a 2nd for the right to sign a disgruntled Earl Thomas looking to cash in.

The Eagles gave up a boatload of picks to draft Wentz. When teams see a franchise QB they like, they often back up the Brinks truck to get him. We should be able to get something for Dak.

Of course, along w/ Dak continuing to get better.

Because we had a horrible HC and OC, no it wasn't. Dang sure should have been.

I've seen enough from Dak to consider him easily top 10, and I was a *no* before last season. Accuracy, pocket presence, and decisiveness way up. His improvement last year was incredible.

Playcalling crippled our record this year. I think we all expect that it was Garrett, but it would be hilarious if Moore tanked to get Garrett dumped. Hilarious in a cosmic justice sense.

I hear Dak has hired Kitna for this offseason. I was disappointed about them not keeping Kitna, but then I saw the trick. Not affiliated with the team, Kitna can train Dak all offseason. That was a smart move.

I have a policy to not argue with children. You say you would love to face a team led by Dak. Then go on to say the entire team chocked.

After this mess of a contract negotiation, will there be a team who is willing to pay Dak? Any team will now know that Dak will be intent on raking them through the coals and will be completely unwilling to even negotiate. This has been a bad faith ordeal by Francis from the start.
The whole purpose of the franchise tag is to keep your franchise player from going to another team. It will work out for Dak...ask Kurt Cousins. It will not work out for Dallas...ask Dan Snyder.

That’s a reasonable analysis.

Well, we had our opportunity. But weren’t good enough evaluators to decide in the investment prepared to move on if necessarily.

Ultimately , turned out we weren’t as sold or all in on Dak as Jerry and others with the Cowboys had been claiming.

I don't think so. I don't believe Wash wanted to keep Cousins.

We have not seen Dak play under the guidance of Mike McCarthy, plus this team has undergone some interesting changes. We have a highly talented receiver corps along with an improved defense. Theoretically the FO could've tagged Dak for any of several different reasons. Don't know if they tagged him to give them time to find a replacement, or tagged him to give them 1 more year to decide whether he's their franchise QB, or if they're just still trying to reach a long term agreement and have yet to work it out.
Plus like I said, I'm sure they're interested in how he does with MM and this year's receiving corps.
Fans who claim to know the real reason are only speculating.
