Poorly called game. But that call on Gallup is not why the Cowboys lost.

Everyone on ESPN said it was a legit call (including dumb Kellerman), that Gallup initiated it and he could have prevented the flag by not extending his arm or putting it on his hip. Football 101, bush league mistake.

Good news is Gallup had him beat and Ramsey was the best he’ll face all season. He should torch most other defenses from here on out.

Not only ESPN, but every analyst I’ve heard so far on local radio in DFW. If even one or two of those analysts said it was a bad call there would already be a thread about it claiming the validation but when it’s the other way around it’s crickets.

They did not lose the game because of this call, although obviously the call changed the score of the game, but for the refs to claims this was obvious is just nonsense. This kind of contact happens on almost every passing play. It was not a push-off. Gallup's arm never fully extended. And watch Ramsey's delayed reaction. His upper body moves backward and his arms go up as if he was pushed, but long after Gallup's arms were not in contact.

Bad calls happen in every game for both teams but I wish the refs would not make silly statements like they did after this call. Just say it was close but we called it as we saw it in real time. Please do not say this would be called every time because that is so not true.

Looked like Ramsey had an arm bar on Gallup and he was just pushing Ramsey's hand off of his arm.

That’s exactly how I saw it. Hand fighting which occurs on almost every deep route. Awful call.

It's pretty clear in replay that Ramsey's reaction was not only exaggerated but also delayed.Gallup made no contact with Ramsey's body, so his arms were not extended from Ramsey's body (which would be textbook OPI). This was just hand-checking to clear Ramsey's hand from Gallup's arm.This kind of thing happens on almost every play in the NFL and is seldom called (because it can in theory be called on either the WR or DB).

My point exactly. The only way to stop DBs from "flopping" every time they're beat is to flag them for unsportsmanlike conduct. The play should have gone to NY for review and they might have overturned it based upon Ramsey's absurd overreaction alone. Corrente is just doing a "CYA" instead of leveling with fans.He's just plain lying if he claims that Gallup touched Ramsey's torso. If Gallup didn't, his arms could not be "fully extended" as Corrente claimed. Also, Ramsey's hands were in contact with Gallup's arms just as much as Gallup's were with Ramsey's arms. This did not happen here (please watch the replay carefully). What was actually happening is hand-checking (in other words, Ramsey was initiating contact with Gallup and Gallup was using his hands to clear Ramsey's hands and arms. So, are you saying that Ramsey was not using his hands and arms on Gallup?

What do you call the area just south of the shoulder area? Because that is what Gallup was touching the whole way and does shove a bit to clear space. That would be called the torso.

That's not what happened. In this GIF, Ramsey doesn't even put his hand on Gallup until after Gallup is ALREADY touching him just below the shoulder area (torso, to the layperson) as the GIF begins. Even then, Ramsey doesn't lock up Gallup's arm so Gallup could have done the underhand swim move to free both hands for the catch.

So, are you saying that Ramsey was not using his hands and arms on Gallup?

After initial contact by Gallup he did. He has the right not to run and get pushed the whole way. Hand-checking as you say.

It did happen. Again, you're seeing what you want to see. Gallup's left arm is bent while touching Ramsey the whole way and even initiated the contact if this GIF is to be believed. Then, before disengaging, Gallup straightens his arm to provide the push to gain separation which is how he got into the clear.

Does Gallup's arm go from bent at the elbow to straight just before disengaging with Ramsey whom he was touching the whole way and initiating contact per this video? (Please watch the replay carefully).

Never understood why people would apologize for their team getting a call even if they think it was wrong. First off, it's just a game, who apologizes for that and second, I would've been laughing in yo face!

Because he and I both agree that a competitive sport shouldn't be left on a "what if" of an officiating call.

Regardless of the litany of calls that didn't go both ways, for such a competitive moment to be deflated by a ticky tack call takes the fun out of it.

It's like being in 2nd place, on the last leg of a triathlon and home slice in 1st rolls his ankle. Did you win? Technically yeah, you crossed the finish line. But had Lightning McQueen not injured himself, you weren't going to win. Some people can take that with a grain of salt, others won't let it sit well with them.

Different strokes for different folks, I'd imagine.
