I'm absolutely addicted to My Next Guest on Netflix. I've loved Letterman since I was a kid and I was thrilled to see him do something different. The Barack Obama and Dave Chappelle in particular were outstanding.
Chappelle is just an interesting guy but the Letterman interview was really good

Just finished Season 7 of The 100 on Netflix. I had seen all the other seasons already. This is the last season and it pretty much wraps everything up and unlike so many other sci-fi series, it has an ending.

I can't say I recommend it. But I can't say I didn't like it either. I mean it works for what it is I guess. A lot of the story lines in this series seems like it was pilfered from other sci-fi series. It seemed like the same kind of stories about various tribal factions at war constantly. Not to give away too much but if the world ends due to total nuclear war and there are only a few thousand people left alive, it is hard to believe they would be fighting and killing each other constantly. If this is who humans are then we never would have survived our own creation. But war and killing makes good TV I guess.

IIRC, there are limited resources (at least as far as the things they want to possess) which is why there are different factions, plus the mutated group in the mountain, and the more primitive faction that simply didn't trust anyone. I only lasted as long as Season 3, I think, so there are probably more groups than those.

It gets worse after season 3. It loses it origins and ventures into some crazy stuff. The last season tries to explain some of the earlier plots with flashbacks but doesn't most of the stuff from the last season! I rarely stop watching a series once I start so I watched this one to the end. But I am glad it is over.

I keep seeing it on the recommended list for Netflix. I saw they had 7 seasons when I was browsing last night. Usually, that is enough to make me take a look, but I keep hearing a lot of mixed reviews. I'll probably give it a try.

I like Britannia too. Season 2 is running on Stars or Epic or one of the premier channels. I read somewhere that all 3 season have already run in Europe.

I just started Barbarians on Netflix today. It looks something like Britannia without the witchcraft. It appears to be Germania against the Romans this time.

You have to get past the initial premise that the survivors of an earth cataclysm living on a space station orbiting earth would send 100 kids without adult supervision down to the earth's surface to see if it is survivable. Once you accept that, it's pretty good for a few seasons.

The faulty premise is something I can get past but I keep hearing that only the first few seasons are good. I'm one of those guys who has to watch a show all the way to the end so maybe I'm better off avoiding this one.

It seems like the kids were in space prison, weren't they? They were lucky that they weren't dumped out of the space station to die with no equipment at the time of their crimes, and were considered expendable.

No, it wasn't a prison. The children were sent to Earth because the station was failing.

Yes, I understand the space station was keeping everyone alive after the earth became uninhabitable. But most of the 100 who were sent to earth were in a prison within the space station due to violating some of their rules.

The only case I remember was a brother and sister. There was a rule that each couple was allowed to have only one child. So one couple had 2 and kept the girl hidden. They had a secret hatch in their floor where she hid during inspections, and she never left the family quarters. Somehow she was found out. The brother went to prison for hiding her, and I believe the mother was whooshed off into space where she immediately died. I can't remember what they called that. They had a chamber they made the person stand in, then opened the outer door while everyone else stood inside and watched.

Both the brother and sister came to earth, although I think only 1 of them was in prison. I can't remember if the other one snuck on or had some skill that would be needed on earth.

A few of them were in the prison, but I don't think they all were. I could be misremembering, but I don't think all 100 were prisoners. I thought they were sent to Earth to give them a chance to live, because the station was dying. It's been a while since I watched it though, so maybe I'm wrong....and the chamber was an airlock. I believe they used the term "spaced", when they killed someone that way, but again, it's been a while, so I may be wrong on that too.

I guess no one watches The Crown. Season 4 just started. Very good look into the Royal family. Some dream of being royalty. It's a rough life. No freedoms to do what you want, marry who want, go where you want... etc.. none of that. It's sad. Plus no real family bonds, just a loyalty to the crown. Money doesn't buy happiness. These people for the most part are miserable.

Season 2 of His Dark Materials debuted today on HBO and HBO Max. Anyone familiar with the Golden Compass story should enjoy this series in my opinion.
