Really? How long has it been since the Detroit Lions won a playoff game? Cleveland Browns ring a bell? From 1-15 to 0-16, and following the no. 1 draft spot two years in a row, it's been 3 years and they're just now starting to look respectable (win against the Cowboys excluded). Jets haven't been to the SB but once, 51 years ago. Jags haven't had more than 6 wins in the last 9 years, but once.

It could be worse....
Not when one feels entitled. Some Cowboys fans, and I know them really well, do not see themselves as those "other fans", they are more deserving. Especially the ones in Texas. Hell, those people live in CLE and DET, serves them right!

If we go back a look at threads after Griffen was signed, many of us thought this team was read, not just for the playoff but a deep postseason run. So Jerry is not saying anything many fans/media weren't saying also in August.

Looking back, it's strange how a run of turnovers killed us the first 3-4 games ( mostly by Dak and Zeke ).
And if you recall, many argued against that observation at the time.

Talent is the entire team, not just a bunch of skill players. Any football team is as good as the weakest link in the chain and the Cowboys had their chain running right up the middle of their defense.

this year cleveland has shown the value of a good head coach. something jerry seems to dismiss. you would think the successes of jimmy and parcells would have imprinted that on his brain. apparently not.

We had half of a really good team. What a tool.

Many of us laypeople realized the defense wasn't looking good in the offseason, with a terrible secondary (HaHa? Darian Thompson? A rookie starter?), terrible coordinator, and a DL full of has-beens and no starter at RDE.

This season was sabotaged because we flaked out on defense, yet again, and couldn't evaluate free agents (and our own players) to save our lives

Jethro is a tremendous snake oil salesman. And grand promoter.

Unfortunately our fan base has bought in and continue providing him support.
Yet, you keep watching them, thus contributing to putting money in Jerry's pockets, and you keep talking about him and saying the same exact thing over and over and over...

Let it go, Greg. Jerry is not changing nor is his family ownership of the team.

Jerry.

We have a great need at S and DT. We will NOT have great personnel until those 2 areas are fixed. Period. We were 8-8 last season, and didn't upgrade the D. THINK.
I'll add CB, LB and O-Tackle to those positions list of need.

Of course he’s dumbfounded. Looked like a great team to him. And why the Bar has been lowered with our beloved franchise.

To be fair, a lot of fans thought this was a Super Bowl team but for Garrett. Many of them are calling out players now.

I do remember that I caught a pile of hate when I pointed out that this team was 2-3 years away.

You're not sure anyone is exaggerating? Here? On these forums? Sure.

Try again. No one here is exaggerating that Jerry sound silly here and is often a buffoon when it comes to assessing the state of his roster.

Any Browns or Jets or Lions coach who gets their team even to the SB deserves the coach of the year award automatically, maybe coach of the century. To overcome DECADES of mediocrity interspersed with scattered success would be a monumental accomplishment.

Or any Dallas coach that gets there while Jerry is the owner and gm, which goes without saying...

Of course you did. Hire a real GM and he would have told you you're dead in the water in that secondary and what's at D-Tackle.

With a new DC and no offseason with Covid...it had the makings of a bloodbath. Jerry didn't see it, he was surprised

As was done to most people skeptical of the team's success before the first snap. Forum life.

Yup. I didn't dwell on the reaction. I've learned through the years to let stuff wash off me.

I've mostly learned to stay out of the really stupid convo's, but I do catch myself imbibing now and then!!!!!!!!

You're correct, but most of us, like JJ, are not qualified to be legitimate NFL GMs.
What makes one qualified though? There are plenty of gms that get fired every year. Since when was the NFL about qualifications lol

Before the season started, we didn't realize how much not having a off season would negatively impact the Cowboys and we didn't realize the injury plagued season we were about to enter. The so called NFL experts didn't realize this also and were predicting the Cowboys to do well. Remember when the Cowboys were as high as #5-6 in the preseason power polls? So it's understandable why anyone would be surprised and disappointed.

Yes, but really, before the season, how many teams' owner, coach or fans have the opinion "Our team sucks, it's terrible, will probably go 0-16, have no talent, worst team in the league, no hope for us to do anything of note this year", etc.?

It's at least "we have hope" in the vast majority of cases. Of course you always have the "fans" who look at the team through rose colored glasses and say "SB winner, no doubt!" and the "We're not doing anything this year", but that's a small minority...
