Dalton throws for 300+ yds: fans say keep him. Dak threw for 450+ yds 3 times, fans say cut him?

Hey, Jack, YOU are the one who starts with the insults AS USUAL. But as a typical little boy, you blame others for things you actually do FIRST. Start telling the truth for once.

I'm a little boy named Jack...you are so damn cute trying to be tough,

Again, why should Dak take less than the market will bare. It’s not his responsibility to build a team.

Agree 100%. Then the fans shouldn't get upset if one of the three scenarios occurs:
1. Dak gets his deal, just the way he wants it; or
2. Dak tests the FA and decides to leave; or
3. Dak doesn't get any interest in FA at his asking price and decides to sign with the Cowboys for a lower amount and/or longer term. It is the FO's responsibility to build the team the way they see fit.

I agree. But it’s also not DAL responsibility to overpay for a middle tier NFL QB.
Which is what has happened.
And now DAL is slow walking through what WASH did with their middle tier QB. Kirk Cousins. Who as you pointed out, allowed the market to pay for his services.
And Minnesota sucks. 87 million fully guaranteed dollars later.

But do the Cowboys consider Dak a middle tier QB? That’s your opinion , not theirs.

If DAL thought he was more, Dak would have his contract.
As I’ve already pointed out, DAL is doing EXACTLY what WASH did with Cousins.

You seem to be the only person who isn’t up on current affairs.

I never "proudly march" into the post season because some other team lost. It happens, and I'm always glad to make the post season, but can't take pride in getting in over another team when that team walloped my team both times they played....
It was intended to be a bit sarcastic.

I’m totally up on it. But I’m not expressing my personal opinion on whether I agree he is or isn’t a middle tier QB as you have stated. I’m playing devils advocate and judging based on our ownership and front offices stance.

Im not expressing mine either.
DAL would not give Dak what he wanted.
Which was Russell Wilsons contract.
So Dak was tagged.
Why? As you said, teams historically overpay for QBs. And yet DAL simply would not come to his terms. Both on length and money.
Same EXACT situation as WASH with Cousins.

Jerry has already publicly admitted that Dak’s stats are inflated on garbage time. It’s public.

And Jerry is more than aware that this team is winning with Dalton, despite all the OL issues.

Even Stephen publicly stated a week or so ago that Dalton has been playing well, ONCE the OL got time to help, meaning they very well recognize that the struggles were more a result of the OL issues.

If Dallas makes the playoffs and some noise, Dak is finished here. Heck, his status is already up in the air anywhere after Dalton has been winning.

The FA I am interested in keeping are Looney, Awuzie, Smith, Brown, Niswander, Wilson, Brown, and Woods. none of them are going to demand significant money because they are backups and marginal starters.

This notion that we are going to be able to find some difference making defensive players from the money that we save by not signing Dak is simply a non-starter for me.

It was all the vogue about five years ago to point at the Denver broncos and claim that it was a trusted method but history since much like the decades before it has proven differently.

When it comes to roster construction and dax contract the question boils down to whether or not we are going to be able to sign the current team free agents and our draft picks. I don't think there's any question that we can.

Dak is a very efficient and productive quarterback. He generates a lot of yards throws very few picks and his offense scores lots of points. People that ignore that, the defense, and special teams then turn around and wave their hands at the win loss record reek of bias.

It is the same type of bias that had Cam Newton as the MVP a few years ago. He was not efficient nor productive yet his team won. Football is the ultimate team sport bar none.
exactly....any FA worth their dollars and being a difference maker won't hit the market. teams don't let them go or they trade them..... Clowney was available. he wanted $16M a year. was he worth that much?

you don't build a team through FA. you complement and fill in a gap here or there. or you make a trade and give up assets for really good ones like Cooper.

:huh::facepalm:

so you take that for its face value, but then in other posts you argue that Jerry is negotiating....could it be possible his words are a negotiation tactic? cone on dude. you are hanging by straws

Crazy times, 450 yards and L are better than 377 yards and a W. It must be near a full moon and they let the crazies out. Happy New Year.
who you play against matters....how your defense plays matters....lets not forget Dalton has beatedn three, 4-10 teams....woohoo? or a so what!!! and those teams had their back up QBs....yeah keep hanging on to that 377 yard....what about the other two games he played a 4-10 team? I haven't seen any mention of that, but hey lets cherry pick for the sake of argument...happy new year

I agree. But the fact they didn’t meet his demands doesn’t necessarily mean they believe he’s middle tier.

Dalton has won three in a row. I don't think The Dak won three in a row in a long time, certainly not to start this season before he got injured. His one win was because of a freaking watermelon! lol
2018? is that a long time ago? first three games of 2019? and lets not forget Dalton beat 3 4-10 teams with their back up QBs..... nothing to brag about......and he needed 9 defensive turnovers, a defensive TD and a special teams TD to get there.
