Dalton throws for 300+ yds: fans say keep him. Dak threw for 450+ yds 3 times, fans say cut him?

There's a difference... They're both average QB's and easily replaced, but one of them wants to be the highest paid player in history and the other would be happy with a 3 year deal @$15 million per year for the same amount of wins.

when you try to solve the wrong problem...you end up with the wrong answer and defeat your own goal.

why didn't we get over the hump? was it Dak and the offense? or what it coaching? or defense?

all QBs are masters of stats (perhaps Rodgers and Brady excluded).....they have outstanding stats against average to below average teams (that's why those teams are average to below average) and they are good and at time bad against better teams (I can pull out the stats for every top QB you name)..

I am a cowboys fan.....Dak is the QB of my team. he gives us the best chance to be competitive and win.

I don't celebrate and jump up and down and go woohoo because we beat 3 4-10 teams, yet get our arses handed to us against average teams....

There were a couple of slips by the egals defense, as well as blown coverages, and the false start penalties that killed some eagles drives, leading to the egals defense being on the field a lot late in the game.

But what's happened during 14 games of a season is a better indicator of one game, to go 4-9-1 you can't be a very good football team...
Every team in the NFC East sucks, but what fans are over looking is that the Cowboys somehow got enough rolling in the right direction to be the best coming out of this horrible division.
We are the best of the worst right now,, if we can just somehow depend on WFT losing, and we beat the Giants.. than its on !!
We can proudly march into week 1 post season and get served!!!

I never "proudly march" into the post season because some other team lost. It happens, and I'm always glad to make the post season, but can't take pride in getting in over another team when that team walloped my team both times they played....

Dak has 4 TDs and 3 INTs, when the game is between 1-8 points at 8.9 YPA. That is on 87 attempts and 770 yards.

Dalton throws at 74% and has 5 TDs and 1 INT. That is on 73 attempts at 7.5 YPA and 546 yards

Dalton doesn’t turn the ball over and he puts the ball in the end-zone. And Dalton has played with way more fluidity in the line-up.

Dak is simply a paper-Tiger who throws the ball when down like twenty points.
Dalton is a never been (not even a has been). 0-5 in playoffs. 1-12 in games that mattered. he got BLOWN out by average teams....and just beat 3 4-10 teams with their back up QBs playing and needed 9 turnovers a defensive TD and a special teams TD to do it..

Dalton PLAIN SUCKS...you know it. I know it. everyone knows it. NFL knows it.

Dak #1 QB in the league....Dalton couldn't lick his balls....even if he tried.

I agree with keeping Dak, although 40 million WILL prevent us from acquiring a support system that will result in a consistent contender.

Where we disagree is Romo. You still cling to that worn out misperception that Romo “went Hollywood”. Plus, he had a great work ethic and was driven to win—to the point where he tried to force the issue too many times, thus the “choking”.
how does that prevent you from signing other players? it didn't this year. we had 7 of the highest paid NFL position players on the team...signed 4 mid level FAs. we just suck at signing the right FAs.....that's the problem. when was the last time jerry made the right splash on the defensive side of the ball...with the likes of Hardy, Poe, Griffin, McCoy.....all washed up, head cases, lazy and has beens.

Boy, I'm so looking forward to Dak-Dalton quarterback controversy over the next few years.

No, but they can come pretty close.
Not really. A High school principal or construction forman or bookkeeper sitting at his computer has nowhere close to the knowledge of a player that a NFL coach who works with that player every day does. Plus, those people cannot possibly know what kind of roster maneuvers or contract restructures the team might consider to make things fit.

And Zeke was fumbling when Dalton was QB the first full start, so cut the excuses. He fumbled twice in one half, while Dalton was moving the ball. Dak has been throwing INTs in his own territory.
hmmm, interesting spin and made up story you put forth

Dak had 4 Ints, two coming in the last plays of the game in desparation time.
Dalton has had 7
it took Dalton 8.5 games to finally pass as much as Dak did in 4.5 games...

in 2019, Dak had 11 interceptions...Dalton had 14
in 2018 Dak had 8, Dalton had 11, Ben Rothlisberger who absolutely sucks had 16 (LOL)

Zeke had 5 fumbles in 2020.....3 times when Dak was starting, 2 times since

how far up your arse do you reach to pull out these stats? they seem very far fetched....

I'd take one 1st round pick and save $20 million for two defensive free agents and a 1st round DT, safety or CB
which defensive FAs? Poe? McCoy? Griffin? that all worked out so well...

which FAs are available to pay $10M each and get good return? defensive players worth anything don't hit the market....there is a reason, they are either washed up, suck, injured, head cases....and we have had all of them signed up like Poe, McCoy, Hardy, Griffin...... all about 6-8M a year.....who was available for 10M a year that we didn't sign and they are playing well? getting NFL DT FAs not like going to walmart through the aisles picking up what you want...

Nothing to do with Dak's stats. The fans calling for his release believe he was greedy by not signing the offer. Not sure why anyone on this forum who bash some of the players get upset with other fans bashing Dak. Fans will be fans.

Drafting a QB was never an option, but you never know what is going on in that pickle in Jerry's head.
So I will just wait and see how it all unfolds.
I will root for whoever has the star on the helmet. Rather they get 20 or 40 million a year, or a rookie contract if that is the way it works out.

Dalton is like Garrett - had years to "get 'er done", but failed. Am I glad to have Dalton as a backup?

Sure, better than a greenhorn like DiNucci, experience matters.

But you can't take the current situation with Dallas, a few games, and put that over years of data. So maybe Dalton can play better with a team that's not a full strength, but (maybe) the team can be a full strength next year, can he elevate his game to "match up" with that full strength team?

That's an unknown, you would think it naturally follows that good play with a mediocre team would result in great play with a very good team, but that's not life. Fitzpatrick is a good example, sometimes he plays like one of the best quarterbacks ever, then in a couple of games he plays poorly.

At his age, and with his record, I'm just not willing to try to build a team around Dalton. Dak's has his shortcomings, but we finally get rid of Garrett/Linehan/Marinelli, and NOW people want to get rid of Dak?
