Zeke's contract is irrelevant to the point.

Byron's money, directly, went to other defensive players, in the same offseaosn.

says you. I'm of the mind that zeke jumping the line impacted the decision.

Sometime, you just need to let the tank fill up again, and pull the handle.
But we just signed all of our other offensive supporting cast and brought in a new HC to make a run with this roster and QB .

In a couple years it makes more sense to flush if the turds keep rising to the surface. And we can flush them all.

In 2019 there were several games the defense couldn't have played any better and we still lost.

Including the win and in game to go to the playoffs against the Eagles in week 16.

We will never create football utopia with Dak making money like that and he has had a lot more then most QB's.

ok but I’m curious what the other cheaper options you were thinking about....? Seriously not trying to argue, I’m interested. I’m not overly crazy about Dak but I think he’s better than most.
Per the latest on Russell Wilson and his naming of Dallas as a place he’d play...he might even be a cheaper option to try to trade for...? Although I’m sure Seattle won’t take less than two entire drafts worth of picks. But I also can only imagine the kind of video game numbers he’d put up with our offense.

I’ll be honest, I see both sides of the debate here. Which is why I am completely indifferent as to what happens, if that makes sense.

A smart team would trade him......there is a sucker around every corner....especially in this QB dance in 2021....some will be willing to over pay....

Jets hold the cards right now.....but just wait.....or we can play this out right now....

Jets trade Darnold......Washington....draft Zack Wilson

Carolina takes Fields.....

49ers take Trey Lance

Bears riding w/ Foles and Trubisky???? Don't think so.... trade for Russell Wilson....

Watson wants out of Houston.....Dolphins bite....give back picks...plus Tua to Houston

So....Seattle is without a QB.....Pittsburgh is looking....Denver is looking..... Atlanta is looking....Someone will pay.

If it's me....I'm getting up to #2 for Zack Wilson. He's a Kellen Moore type QB....accurate....that throws a catchable ball.

Agree.

Eventually my radical opinion will become the mainstream opinion and everyone will have suddenly known all along that not overpaying for decent QB play was the right choice.

The Cowboys can’t expect to duplicate that once-in-a-generation Day 3 draft value. But they might be able to plug one of the refined rookie quarterback prospects such as Zach Wilson or Mac Jones into their offense and experience similar short-term success. That shift would dramatically lower the team’s floor for the 2020s, but it would also raise its ceiling. Already up against the salary cap, an expensive Prescott extension would accelerate the hemorrhaging of blue-chip free agents that started with Byron Jones last year. By resetting with a rookie quarterback, the Cowboys could retain their other stars and build like the Rams and Eagles from recent seasons, teams that leveraged the cost savings of Jared Goff’s and Carson Wentz’s inexpensive rookie deals into exceptional roster depth and eventual Super Bowl berths.
Lol.......it would be the first thing you got right. But like the rest of your qb predictions, they will make you look foolish.

Isn’t Dak one of the most accurate QBs ....

Leading analytics team makes case for Cowboys letting Prescott walk

Football Outsiders has been at the forefront of the analytic movement in the NFL since inception. Their reliability as an outlet is unquestioned in terms of quality content, but even the best get o

Leading analytic team has been used by Jerry Jones since 1994:
  1. Fire Jimmy Johnson
  2. Pass on Randy Moss
  3. Trade for Joey Galloway
  4. 1995-2002 Dallas Cowboys drafts
  5. Run off Bill Parcells
  6. Trade for Roy Williams WR
  7. 2009 Dallas Cowboys Draft
  8. Hired Jason Garrett
  9. Not resigning an extension for Dak Prescott after the 2018 season
Analytic starts with ANAL the reason for this post and the reason Jerry Jones has not got a cowboys team past the divisional round in the playoffs with more losing and non-winning seasons since 1995 than in Dallas Cowboys history having starting out as an expansion team.

You Arlington Jonesboys fans keep using ANALIDIOTS.

Awesome- let’s let Dak walk so we can sign all of our star players to big contracts- who almost always underperform anyway. Btw- we don’t really have any players in the vein of Byron Jones anyway who are actually deserving of big contracts.

realistically who are we going to lose from this team by signing Dak? Gallup?

Byron certainly hasn't been deserving of his big contract playing corner for the Dolphins. You can't take prior production for granted or being applicable when you move on to another team.

Its got nothing to do with analytics. You let Dak walk simply b/c he wants an outrageous amount of money which would leave the team unable to rebuild the worst defense in cowboy history. Signing him is a dead end.

**** I seemingly recall seeing an unproven QB commodity panning out a time or two, chiefly stated: 1) Clint Longly#19

2) Jason Garrett#17

** Tho, catching chain-firing blue lightening in a empty Jonnie Walker bottle is a rarityo_O

nope it did not..moneys always been there daks refused to sign refused to give a team friendly deal all those signed before dak signed team friendly structure and didnt give the Jones a headache in nedgtiotains. He not signed due to his own issues..agent, brother and himself have decided to make it as difficult as possible and well the jerry see an unappreciative player and now have also put up wall..
its called negotiations, i like how Zekes , 11, 13 mil salary's he got since his deal was signed somehow overtakes the 2omil AC got, Dlaw got 20mil, JS 10, LC what 10? odd all these players got their money seamlessly..yet zekes always the target and Jones boys are to blame for Daks not inking his deal..

NOPE! this is Dak and his entourage

the claws are out and egos are in play.. EE had ZERO to do with Daks deal..

Why can’t the defense be bolstered up thru the draft. If we use our top few picks a couple years we should be able to add substantial talent assuming they aren’t bust.

If it was a spit or two ok but this D is so bad they would need to have the best D draft ever, all rookies would have to start, just not going to happen

I said a couple drafts. How many years are you talking to rebuild? Do you actually think we will rebuild thru Free Agency instead of the draft.

With our top 5-to top 10 offense we only need an average to slightly above average defense to contend. With a couple solid drafts we should be able to make some progress.

1. Wilson won’t be available at 10, Mac Jones would be a horrific reach

2. The article mentions Stars?? What stars are on this team period that aren’t already under contract? Gallup is a solid #2 WR and about the only player on this team I can think that needs to be resigned in the next 2 years. The rest of the “stars” on the team need to be cut if anything

3. This franchise already had 4 years of high level play out of a QB on a cheap rookie deal...and the front office did NOTHING to capitalize

4. Even with cap space freed up not paying the QB the front office will continue to do NOTHING. Seriously, do people honestly believe at this point that Jerry will save $ and invest it back into the team?

Rebuilding the defense can be done thru the draft.

We have an offense and QB that can contend now . And it’s key talent is signed for a couple more years.

Why would we want to shake up our strength and have to start over and redevelop there again?

This is not a team that needs to start completely over.

They're in need of a mini rebuild and pigeon holing them to defense only in the draft is not the way.

They've drafted defense. They just don't get it right. Not to mention that defense in the NFL is almost impossible to play anyways considering the rules are stacked against them.

They'll just go back to what they did before.. Simple coverages.. Bend don't break.

I see this roster as a roster trending down. The key pieces on the OL are trending down and getting beat up.

Zeke is not explosive at all and is making 15 mill a year.

Dak is about to get the gigantic team killing contract.

The defense has a few pieces to be excited about but those same pieces could very well bust.

I just see us being mediocre but still good enough to take advantage of a weak division as long as Washington doesn't get quality QB play.

This team killing contract is over hyped. We are set on offense with all key pieces under contract.

The defense can be rebuilt thru the draft on Rookie contracts.

What exactly is over paying our QB 3-5 million a year going to prevent us from signing specifically?
