Our defense has been atrocious every year for Dak and cost us playoff games.
i think Dak is good enough and to me his scrambling ability is a dimension that keeps drives alive. But anyway, we can agree or disagree on that.
I’m not being snarky or argumentative at all when I say this...but who?
I can’t think of anyone that would be available. Def willing to entertain the idea.

Ask the teams with Franchise and Elite QB’s . They are still contending.

I’m not arguing it doesn’t hurt their chances and talent pool but why should a QB take less. It’s not their responsibility to balance the budget. This is insane on fans to hold the individual players responsible.

It’s up to owners or GM’s to decide what’s best for their team and franchise.

In 2019 there were several games the defense couldn't have played any better and we still lost.

Including the win and in game to go to the playoffs against the Eagles in week 16.

We will never create football utopia with Dak making money like that and he has had a lot more then most QB's.

Right , any player including Dak who goes to a better team and ran franchise has a better shot of going to a Super Bowl.

The Cowboys despite their popularity and financial success are a bottom tier franchise this era.

We will probably never return to a Super Bowl with Jethro as GM . We’ve been a bottom tier football franchise for about 25 years. It didn’t start and won’t end with Prescott.

If not for lucking out with QB’s like Romo and Prescott we’d of continued to be a 5-11, 6-10 type franchise because of our dysfunctional organization

While neither were or are Elite Qb’s they help this awfully ran franchise to be more interesting and relevant.

This franchise suks. At least other bottom tier franchises have the opportunity to finally find the right leadership like Cleveland or Jacksonville.

Until fans realize we’re hopeless and begin demanding change it’s likely to remain the same .

And why this dysfunctional organization needs a QB like Prescott regardless If it’s over paying cause we will really suk without him.

Our Football Idiots had a perfect setting with two Rookie sensations to build a championship caliber team while under their rookie contracts. It is what it is Cowboy fans . We are doomed with Jethro and Son. Lol

This is stupid because it is still predicated on the fact that Dak would mean the loss of blue-chip players like Byron Jones.

They lost Byron Jones because of Sean Lee, Tyrone Crawford, Donati Poe, Daryl Worley.

    So true.

All this consternation about Dak’s cap hit. When the cowboys are literally flushing money down the toilet on guys like Crawford, Poe, and Jaylon Smith.

That’s not all we are flushing. Lee is still flushing. LVE has been flushing. Tyron could be next.

I bet there’s 3-5 million a year in there somewhere.

Zeke's contract is irrelevant to the point.

Byron's money, directly, went to other defensive players, in the same offseaosn.

love Sean lee. But you’re right. He has been a waste of money the last 2 seasons

LVE is a waste of a first round pick so far. Due to health. But it is what it is.

how about all the blown defensive picks? Taco.... chido being meh as a 2nd rounder....... the list goes on.

If I read one more article about how the Cowboys failed to get Dak signed, as if Dak had no part in the failure, I will scream! These writers act like Jerry is holding out whatever it is that Dak wants just to bust Dak's chops or something. Of course we have no idea what Jerry really offered or what Dak really wants, but I find it hard to believe that Jones did not make a fair offer. Dak is clearly holding out for something.

Given the contracts Jones gave Zeke, DLaw, Jaylon, Amari and Tyrone Crawford, I find it hard to believe Jerry decided to hold the line on spending when it came to Dak. I am no Jones fan. He is the worst GM in the league with 25 years of incompetence to prove it, but he has never been guilty of being unwilling to overpay his players. Dak has to have some part in this inability to get a contract done.

It sounds like we are headed for the dreaded 2nd franchise tag. There is no option to tag Dak a 3rd time and still field a team of other players. So, someone explain to me if Dak is unwilling to sign a deal the last 2 years why he would sign one next year? Dak is headed for free agency and I suspect this has been his plan all along. If this is case, Jerry has no choice but to tag him and try to find a trade partner because Dak is not staying in Dallas in 2022.

I think a decent QB in the draft could have success in Dallas because the Cowboys will have a strong OL if healthy and a group of weapons around the QB. Just like Dak had success in 2016, so can a QB coming out this year assuming he has any kind of a decent arm.

I would love for the Cowboys to get Dak signed, but what does Dak want?

The path forward is simple. Draft Mac Jones and build the defense.

The argument against giving Dak 40M per is also simple. We wouldn't have enough cap space to build a team good enough to compete for a super bowl. You can't compete for a super bowl with 3 guys sucking up 50% of the cap space. We've seen Dak for 4 years and we haven't come close to being in a super bowl. Paying him 40X more isn't going to improve our chances.

Did you guys read the article?

That the front office in Dallas would be willing to spend to the cap’s limit while a quarterback on a rookie contract is not guaranteed. They failed to do exactly that with Prescott. And thinking that another quarterback can come in to replicate even a facsimile of his production is dubious at best. The 53.8 Andy Dalton QBR cited would legitimately be be the worst of Prescott’s career. Today would be a good day to sign the franchise quarterback.

Sometime, you just need to let the tank fill up again, and pull the handle.

Only a jethro from Bama would suggest that nonsense.
Mac Jones is far lesser than Tua who was a failure last year with the Dolphins.
Elite OL plus elite weapons*(as good as anyone has ever had) make a lot of college QBs look good.
