Don't see us using 10 or a 1st. Stephen doesn't trust the position the stay healthy. It's no coincidence over years we've used either 2nd or 3rd rounders on LBers. Just me, I don't see this year being any different. Draft a 2nd or 3rde rounder to groom as a 2022 starter while playing quite a few snaps as a rookie.

how about April 27th is LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG way to be "shaping up LOL FA started 4 days again many pretty good players still out there and for the FO FA started yesterday, i imagine many players added before they make static draft board..
No matter what they do in fa, many unknowns for the future at the position.

I would of cut him already, but Cowboys still believe they can turn him around. He will be given 1 last chance with a new coordinator.

I see no point in paying him 7mil this year for another chance when his play last year didn't warrant it and his salary is headed to 9mil then 11mil in the coming years.

But I think you're right. I doubt we dump him. I guess we gotta have a Tyrone Crawford every year.

For what? If healthy, he probably has a bigger upside than anything we can get for him. What happened to Joe Thomas?
Thomas was a FA
Agree on LVE
If the team that knows everything about his health is scared to offer a 5th year option I don’t see a team giving anything for him right now

What about LB Malik Jefferson?

https://nfltraderumors.co/chargers-release-lb-malik-jefferson/

He got released by the Chargers.

Yes, I know, he's been in the league for 3 years on 3 different teams...and cut by all of them. Why bring in an obvious lost case?

I have my doubts on even bringing him in for a looksie, but I can't believe how he completely became a total dud once he became a pro, especially after he was a beast in college at Texas.

We are well aware that Jaylon must have a big rebound season as he isn't playing up to his contract and is a release candidate after the season.

Team needs to decide if they are going to pick up Lve's option for next yr this May. Recently heard it's for over 9 million. With his poor health and declining play, it is looking likely they don't pick up the option.

Joe Thomas recently left via fa. Sean Lee hasn't yet decided if he's going to play next season or not.

With the team moving back to the 4-3, another starter is needed. With Lve's lack of durability, another starter caliber linebacker has to be added for depth. I expect one starter to be signed and a future starter to be drafted. It might be a good idea to spend multiple picks on the positional group as the future is totally uncertain.

I'd try to get Cox and/or Browning in round 3 depending on what we do round 1. They're solid LB options. I'd really like McNeil at 44 because I think he and Tufele are 2 of the best DTs in the draft which is also a big need. So, round 1 for me determines who we should draft between the two. If we get Moehrig, then Browning should be our choice with the first of 2 3rd round picks (or more depending on the trade down). If we go Pitts at 10, then we'll need Cox with the second of 2 3rds because we MUST, in that situation, draft Holland in round 3 to address safety.

Well we are hearing Neal might be coming on board to play linebacker not safety.
If LVE can stay healthy and they do switch to a 4-3 scheme, they won't need Neal as a linebacker. Jaylon isn't going anywhere, he got paid so they will allow him to redeem himself, plus the Jones boys refuse to admit they were wrong about a player they invested in like Jaylon.

I would hope this to be the case. However, I think we should take at least 2 LBs in the draft just in case. Browning, Davis, or Cox in round 3 and then pick a LB in round 4 like Chazz Surratt from NC. Surratt would be insurance if LVE doesn't stay healthy.

I'd have no problem drafting two LBs in the draft and I like the names you are suggesting. We would be fortunate to draft talent like that, however, we have other holes to fill so two LBs may be asking for too much.

It depends on the way we draft. If we trade back, then 2 LBs becomes doable. I'm going to make a slight caveat here with something I'm seeing in another thread, and it'll make sense when I explain what I'm seeing as a good option. Apparently, the Bears are trying to shop Akim Hicks. Translation, they'll probably cut him if they can't trade him. As with how I remember what Urban did to Zeke when I watched the Cowboys Bears game in 2019, I recall Hicks really giving Dak a rough night that game as well. So, I'm thinking, with credit to @KingintheNorth for his point about how trades are going lately, we trade one of our 4s to Chicago for Hicks and a 6. So, let's say it's the second of the two 4th round picks we've got that we send out. That gives us another 6th and Hicks. I'd then try to trade back with the Saints and pick up their 2, 3, 5, and 2nd next year (based on the last mock draft I did involving this deal). This gives us a later 1st, 2 2nds, 3 3rds, 1 4th, 2 5ths, 3 6ths, and 1 7th. My move then is to take Moehrig, McNeil, Browning and then proceed through the draft using the 4th we didn't trade on Chazz Surratt. That's how I think we can get both linebackers and rocket our defence from worst to possibly first.

I wouldn't mind seeing Micah Parsons being picked at #10 at all. It could set up some vastly more capable run plugging in the middle, along with a good DT one tech in the 2nd round.

Or, what if we got Collins in a trade down? Let's say we trade down and take Collins, McNeil, and Holland with our first 3 picks? That gives us a strong LB in round 1, arguably one of the 3 best 1Ts in the draft, and one of the 3 best safeties. That could work too.

OMG, I was never into how the sausage is made and that was a total bloody meat grinder to my brain. I just want all the holes filled when it's time to show up to training camp. After the draft, I intend to disappear from this forum for a while.

Haha, sorry. My mind was rolling on that one and that's what I thought of for how the 2 LBs was possible.

To take a linebacker high in the draft, they better be a 3 down player today, which I don't think either JOK/Parsons is at this juncture. Think we will see a linebacker drafted somewhere on day 2 and may even double up at the position later on.

I would plug in JOK at WLB day 1 and let Jaylon and LVE fight over the other two spots.
