I believe this to be true but as a general inquiry. If those QBs come off back to back there several players worth a look. Teams do this every year and there might have been a few teams that called the Cowboys about the 10th overall pick.

Yes but my #1 skill for drafting a linebacker in todays game is can he cover.

This is why i'm still so bullish on LVE.. He may be a liability due to his health but that guy can keep up with Skill players on offense that he has no business keeping up with.

I'm not selecting a linebacker at 10 unless he looks like that guy Arizona picked from Clemson last year.

You can find quality linebackers all over the draft.

Maybe, maybe not. A lot can change in one NFL year and the NFC is kind of waiting to see who the next great team of the next five years could be.

I just don't think ATL is going to do anyone favors and give the pick away for a reasonable price especially as how they're already probably selling the hell out of it for someone to come grab Fields/Jones/Lance.

And this is a prime example of what I was saying earlier....everyoen gets caught up on the flash.......Leonard wasn't a great overall prospect....but it doesn't matter because he's one of the best linebackers in the league. And this is my argument for why you don't pass up "lesser" prospects. If Surtain goes on to be a perennial All Pro guy is anyone going to sit here and really care where he got taken at?

Maybe next time our team sucks Dallas will think twice about going all in to win a meaningless game against teams playing their backups down the stretch.

Yes, it's not like Surtain isn't ONE of the "bpa" players, considering his overall evaluation. And you have to also factor in need, for this team especially. This isn't the 1976 Cowboys, loaded with talent across the board, just lacking that one extra special player to go all the way....

Me either, but Cobb was a slot receiver, Quinn a pass rusher. Neither one, especially Cobb, was supposed to be a huge part of the offense or defense. They filled a role and did very well.

But I still don't trust the Cowboys to keep that kind of streak going, sorry I just don't....

But to me that's what NFL Free agency is for. I'm not looking for the big time Brandon Carr signing. I'm looking for guys to fill holes in while my rookies develop into taking those spots. Sure I'll take a Shaq Barrett at 4.5 million but those are rare.

Get over the old NFL & the way defense used to be played.

I'm all for taking a defender don't get me wrong but they will most likely be a non factor on defense unless they are a guy who rushes the QB.

The NFL isn't built for you to play quality defense. The rules are against it.

You just hold on and do the best you can. That's the goal.

If we could add a Bosa/Young/Garrett type of prospect then i'd be all for it but you guys hated Byron Jones and we would be lucky to get that kind of player again with our pick.

Every year we here about the big time "splash" draft pick Jerry will make. Probably got that reputation from drafting Dez and Mo Claiborne. But Jerry's reputation as a oil sales men is that he will go out and get the "splash" name. That goes against what Tyron, Fredericks or Martin were.
