Men are such pigs!! (Easy guys, just trying to recover from my "no new shoes for a year" with the ladies. I should have heeded my wife's advice, "humor has boundaries".

Good Saturday morning Pops and Zoner Friends,

@Xelda congratulations on your "numbers"! Big sigh of relief.

After several days of rain, there is the promise of sunshine and (relatively) warm weather all weekend long. I'm looking at the yard and thinking it's time to break out the power tools. Tim Allen from "Home Improvement" has nothing on me.

Just when I thought we may have had some success with the intervention, along comes 52 rapid fire emails in back-to-back fashion over about a 24 hour period. Most were borderline SNL material, many suggested I do something anatomically impossible. One particular tirade discussed how he was going to lose weight and fly to Montana to kick my ***. I have alerted the bears to be extra vigilant. The rest of the family is somewhat aghast; while I sit back with my "I told you so" expression.

On to more important and serious things, to all who have lost friends and family while serving in the US military - bless you and thank you for your ultimate sacrifice.

Morning Pops and everyone.

Happy Memorial Day weekend. To do my small part in honoring our fallen I met with “Sam” on Thursday morning at 0600 at our local military installation’s cemetery and we participated in the placing of flags at each tombstone. My father and uncle are both buried at this location and he took special care to do theirs before everyone else’s, and saluted them both and thanked them for their service (he far outranks where they ended their service... very humbling and “heart in my throat” experience).

My thanks and honor to all who have served and no longer with us, and always, my thanks and appreciation to those still serving. God Bless You All.

I've never seen anyone spell his name with quotation marks before. That's the type of out of the box thinking that pushes a man up the ranks, so good for "Sam"! Too bad he didn't go all out, and spell it with all CAPS too. He'd be a general by now. He really sounds like a great guy, "Jan", and I for one am happy for you.

Maybe "Sam" should go pay him a visit and straighten him out.

You by any chance got the address of that pubic grass?
This embarrassing sight is about 7 miles from the boats.
Don't know, but I'm guessing it was in the front lawn.
I suppose that's better than the back lawn? We are still talking clover, right.. wink, wink?
Exactly, I haven't taken to driving in back yards yet even though it sounds like a great deal of fun.

All is well, 'doodles. With shopping as my primary skill followed by box opening within the strict confines of Olympic sports, I was taken aback. I did a triple axle and recovered. faster than you can say "I need that". The never ending pursuit of perfection is what makes me the champion you have before you.

Montanalo, you've gotten everyone's curiosity up. We'd like to see a transcript of what you said to your bragga-expialadocious relative. I don't know why all the rapid fire reprimands because you didn't apply for the position in the first place.

We are all happy for you, Jan. Is he a Cowboy's fan? If not, we leave it in your capable hands to turn him..

It's Memorial Day weekend y'all, so grill them if you've got them.

Morning, Pops and everyone. We are way above normal rainfall levels this spring. More thunder showers are predicted for today. I've mentioned before that I absolutely love rain, but my yard and flower beds really need to dry out some. Speaking of flowers, my glads, Asiatic lilies , calla lilies and yucca plants are in full bloom and are beautiful.

Let's remember all those who died in service to their country.

Good stuff for my Popsadoodles.

Thanks a lot, Xelda! I just returned from visiting my dad at the military cemetery, bawling because I miss him so much... got caught leaving and out of respect stopped my car and waited for a wreath laying ceremony to be done (during which I had to endure the playing of taps yet again and the 21 gun salute)... and then you launch that salvo. I’m already dehydrated from crying so much. It’s only 11:00 and that’s it. I’m done for the day.

But truly, thank you for sharing that.

I wish the closed captioning was better, I but still have tears in my eyes. Men held that flagpole up, knowing with certainty that they would die for it.
Agree but I am bothered by stuff like that and I don't think most people are.

I have never heard that story before and if that is all fact, that should have been taught to all of us in school. I'd read that he was on the sea and inspired to write that as a battle raged on but not the details. Why have I never heard this before?

The flag has always meant a lot but there is recorded history of the sacrifices many made to keep that flag above ground but not the original story.

They made a film about the origination of "Amazing Grace", they should do the same for this.
