Big 12 future looks bright without TX & OU

I personally believe the Big 12 is a more desirable conference than the PAC 12 and is somewhat of a threat to the ACC with the new additions. Among the newcomers are a few very good programs that will benefit from the recruiting bump you get in a Power 5 conference (BYU, Cincy, and UCF come to mind). I went to every University of Colorado home game this year and wow the level of play has declined precipitously. PAC 12 schools really are not getting highly touted recruits anymore and the talent gap is growing. In the Big 12 you do not have a certified blue blood like Oregon in the PAC 12 anymore, but I think that Baylor, OK State, and Iowa State are poised to take the next step.
USC still has the national brand with 11 national championships. And UCLA and Oregon and others if could run the table with undefeated seasons would be in the conversation. Ducks had an opportunity this year after beating Buckeyes but blew it.

I agree Big 12 has an opportunity to move up the ladder if PAC 12 can’t uplift themselves while I think they have the bigger brands . And ACC has been basically a non factor without Clemsons recent success.

If you’re not in SEC or Big 10 you need to be undefeated.

I truly believe the PAC 12 has entered a self reinforcing spiral that will be hard to break out of. As each program around them continues to get worse they struggle to land more good recruits and can't take advantage. Outside of Oregon like 2 or 3 time and Washington once, none of them are ever really even in the conversation for the College football playoff. I truly believe the conference's reputation is crumbling before our eyes.

You’re right and why Riley could dominate at USC if he can keep the Calif talent at home. And they could be on the national stage again. And it could spur more Calif recruits to stay at home.

If kids see an infectious winning program it can turn quickly.

Its better to be Cincy and play in a conference they have a chance of winning. The SEC is getting too big and losing its character. Nobody around here at Auburn and UGA is celebrating the addition of these schools. But I guess TV money makes all the decisions these days. The only school the SEC should have added is Clemson which is right smack in the middle of SEC country, but i'm guessing South Carolina (which should be in the AAC) would block it.

Maybe the SEC should form a Southwest division and just call it the SWC division. lol
I think a regional resorting would be good. The West could be OU, UT, A&M, MO, AR, LSU, TN, MSST and the East could be FL, SC, GA, AL, AU, MS, Vandy and KY. As you can clearly see, I have an ulterior motive, get Bama the hell out of AR's division.

Guess you miss who we beat. More impressive than texas
Missouri was pretty good in football before they joined the SEC and lost access to most of the Texas recruits that had carried them..
See Nebraska as well. --tho Nebraska at least had Cali to fall back on.

Missou is a really good academic school now trying to compete with jethros and it is just really bad.

USC will be very good. They just landed an ace coach in Riley who can both identify talent and recruit it.
He also brought in proven staff and transfers to compete right away.

Outside of USC not sure what the other programs will do but Chip Kelly has a chance to be solid at UCLA and Oregon with Lanning could work out quite well.

USC should thrive with the NIL stuff. They have a very rich alumni base.

USC is certainly poised to take over the PAC12 with Lincoln Riley.

That’s a great example of framing the agenda. Lol

Teams with most national championships in modern era in no particular order.
Alabama
USC
Ohio St
Notre Dame
Oklahoma

And before any Aggies search me out to stab me, this was NOT my selections but one that has been widely floated.
I do think the Aggies would be hard done in this exact scenario.

I hear you, but I was addressing the post that was discussing recent history specifically,
so I addressed it.

50 years ago....or even 20 years ago...is not recent.

Incoming freshman weren't even born 20 years ago
