Dak, like Romo, is a garbage stat QB

Yes ,there were some rough patches with romo but not manyThe overall raw talent of Romo , accuracy , placement , improvisation and game management are qualities that separate him from Dak . Remember the 50-51 game against the broncos for example , Dak could not pull something like this off .
Dak is wildly inconsistent and his accuracy is in question . Wirh romo you could see him pull off some touchdowns and extend plays . With dak , well , if the running game is off , or if there is pressure from the defense , he is pretty much done .
Neither could Romo...they lost 51-48 and Romo threw the game away with 2 min to go in a 48-48 tie.

Let's not act like Dak hasn't had a half a dozen similar games to that, some of which he won.

Your assertion that Dak is "wildly inconcistent" and "accuracy is in question" are both very wrong as well. He is extremely consistent in both.

Fwiw, Tony did engineer a very late 4th quarter game-winning drive in a playoff game in a win in 2014....vs the best defense we have faced in the playoffs since the 90s.

Not sure if that counts or not, but it was pretty dramatic and was the biggest comeback playoff win (down 14 points) we've had since 1994.
The only mark Dak is making is on his PAYCHECKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Dak can’t carry the jock strap of Romo..

Romo was actually carrying garbage at almost every position outside a skill position here and there are various times, as well as Jason Garrett as a PLAY CALLER while Dak has been dragging a talented team down..

If anyone should have figured out anything from 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons, it was that Romo had about 1/2 of football to play just about every week.

Same story over and over again. Team runs Garrett's offense into a massive halftime hole, and then Romo is asked to bail the team out in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

You need to watch more All-22 sir. The people breaking down film have made mention of his accuracy, his indecision, his propensity to check down and take underneath routes. These are the type of things that dog his play when he doesn't have a running game. He is simply being asked to do too much right now. His four turnovers over the last five games might be due to that. I said this in 2018...that he might never again (in his career) have the type of stellar line play he had in 2016. That means he has to become a better quarterback as a consequence. His risk aversion is a detriment against the best teams. Sometimes you have to let it loose and let it fly, especially in a game where you need to steal the momentum.

If Moore won't commit to running the football and prioritizing Cooper, then Prescott is going to have a tough time ahead. There are four or five guys, including Moore, who could've watched the 5 losses that the Cardinals had incurred before they played Dallas, in almost all of them the opponent rushed the ball for 30+ times. Only the Rams rushed less and did so around 25 times. They all knew what the right approach was...and YET what did we see? The All-22...at least from the Cardinals game showed a not greedy quarterback that was too quick to check the ball down and take short underneath routes. Chunk plays were missed down the seams and on the outside. His quarterback module has broken down since Denver. He is not consistently seeing the whole field. His anticipation seems off as well...unless the opposing team is blitzing, where he is pretty good at knowing where to go with the ball.

So Dallas scores 48, Romo throws for 500, 5 TDs and he makes one turnover (on a spectacular diving defensive play) and you think HE throws away the game

Literally played better than any player on the team--and maybe any Dallas player all season on the team---and HE is the guy you think lost the game. He was the very LAST person that cost them the game.

Think about just how astoundingly dumb that sounds

Lol. Romo throws a pick in that game
And against the Cardinals Prescott fumbled twice, lost one of them (leading to the game winning 3 pt margin)...threw one pick that was luckily nullified by a penalty and nearly threw another to Budda Baker early in the game. His ball security has been bad for the past five games. Cedric Wilson threw the ball farther than Prescott did in that game.

So now we are talking about "almost interceptions". LOL. Romo threw GAME BREAKING interceptions. That the other team. You know. Caught. The lengths some of you guys go to defending a guy who hasnt been here in 6 years who was a great QB for the Cowboys but had boneheaded mistake after mistake until 2014 when it all clicked for him is crazy to me.

And there were times where Romo threw actual INTs to allow the other team to come back and win the game, like that game against the Lions. Romo got a reputation for throwing INTs or making costly mistakes when the game was on the line, sometimes the reputation was unfair, but at others Romo did make costly mistakes and wasn't always guaranteed to come up with an important drive or elite play, in some of the biggest games or key elimination games that the Cowboys had during his career. Sometimes Romo did come through and sometimes he didn't, but now some want to say that he would be guaranteed to come through in the big games the Cowboys have had and lost with Dak as the QB, when Romo still was prone every now and then to making costly mistakes or committing turnovers, even years into his career where he was considered to be a veteran QB.

Also how anyone with time on their hands can go back and look up all of the "almost Interceptions" that Romo had his career, since it seems like this is a stat that some have used to single out Dak. Like other QBs don't have "almost interceptions". or luck out because their almost INTs were either dropped by a defensive player or because it got negated by a penalty.

The narratives are too extreme (both ways) on both Dak and Romo.
I guess when the pendulum gets pushed too far one way the reaction is just as bad the other way.
It's so bizarre.

Yet with Dak all some would say is that those are "empty stats" or "meaningless stats." Because the Cowboys didn't win the game and there would no doubt be Dak critics, who would only focus on the fact that Dak threw an INT at the end of a 400+ yard, multiple TD game. In fact I recall one game against the Vikings, where Dak played very well and yet all some did was focus on the last drive and the Cowboys offense not being able to punch it into the endzone late in the game to take the lead. And all some did was blame Dak, pick apart what Dak did wrong or say that Dak wasn't able to do enough and therefore his stats/performance don't matter.

This is a theme used when some insist that Dak never plays good against great teams and if he does, then they still pick apart what Dak didn't do well enough or go back to point out what missed or bad throw that he made, so they can still put the loss on him or say that his stats and performance don't matter since the Cowboys lost.

19 out of 20 NFL QBs go their entire careers and never play this well in a game even once.
+4 TD-turnover, 500+ yards, lead the team to 48 points, no punts.
The problem was that Dallas' 32nd ranked defense (the lowest-rated defense Dallas has ever had) gave up 51.
Just hold them to 30 and we win in a blowout.

well....they would be wrong.

Empty stats are when you are losing by 2-3 TDs and the opposing D goes into prevent and you pile up 150 yards in the 4th qtr and a TD or 2 but your team never really had a chance.
It's never empty if the game is contested.

People overreact to Dak too. No doubt.

It's not just about INTs. Prescott has 4 turnovers over the past 5 games sir. Most in the fourth quarter. It didn't ALL CLICK for Romo in 2014. He beat Rodgers that year in passer rating (113.2)...a rating that is 8 points higher than Prescott's best season (2016). Unless you want to admit that it ALL CLICKED for Prescott with a pro-bowl o-line and a RB contributing 2,000 all purpose yards in 2016. He hasn't beat his 2016 rating (104.9) since then and won't beat it this year (100.9 currently).

After 2008, Romo had only ONE season where he threw more than 10 INTs. That was in 2012, with a not great line, not great running game (only 1,265 yds rushing that year) and throwing the ball an avg of 40.5 att/gm.

Prescott has had the following in the running game:
2016...2396 yds
2017...2170 yds
2018...1963 yds
2019...2153 yds

We can argue all day if you like. Prescott stepped into probably the best situation ever for a rookie QB. He also got thrown into the fire of the NFL as a 4th round pick and went on an 11 game win streak. Something Romo never did. I loved Romo so I think you are mistaking what I am saying as bashing the guy. I am not. Dak hasnt been great for the last month. But to sit there and act like Romo didnt throw back breaking INT's is a joke. I dont care how many he threw. I care about when he threw them. Just like Dak against Washington on one of the worst mistakes I have ever seen him make.

Also. You can post the running stats all you want. The huge difference between Romo and Dak in those stats you posted. Dak is a BIG part of those final stats. Romo was not.

DeMarco Murray was the Cowboys MVP that season in 2014, both he and Romo received MVP votes. Romo was able to manage games with Murray leading the way. It’s been argued by many that our 2007 team was the best team the Cowboys had since their 90s championships. That was one of the most explosive offenses the Cowboys had ever had for at least 10 games. They had TO and Terry Glenn. The Cowboys were scoring 33 points a game until the wheels started coming off late in the season. The team faded just like our current team is fading. Romo had a franchise record 36 TDs that season. He was on pace for over 40 until his game fell apart in Dec. We beat the Giants twice that season and they went on to win the Super Bowl. That team wasn’t overrated it sputtered out. Romo had several other good teams so don’t pretend he didn’t. I’m not going any further with this discussion, I’m in no mood for a marathon debate on a topic we clearly don’t see eye to eye. I’ve given my opinion and if you don’t agree that’s fine. I’ve argued with you in the past and you like to keep going and going and going! I don’t have the time for it.

That’s all well and good, but NOT ONCE did you address the main point of my 2-3 sentence post, which was Garrett out of the way. We all know what the numbers were, but that in no way addresses the point. What you have basically don’t is just thrown stats at me, as if I didn’t know that’s what the team did, when we all know what they did. What you pointed out does not in anyway address the issues.

1. In fact, if we really wanted to see how you are shooting out of the hip, we just have to look at Terry Glenn in 2007, who didn’t start a single game and played in only 1 and targeted 1 time. He had a knee injury and was DONE. So no, that 2007 offense didn’t include Glenn.

2. No, Romo was the MVP of the season as he coordinated the offense for the first time without Garrett in his way, because Jerry banished him completely from play calling. It wasn’t Murray ‘leading the way’ it was an offense where the Cowboys finally were allowed to utilize the run, to complement Romo’s arm. That’s why Jerry was gushing about the Linehan-Romo relationship in the off-season.

3. I didn’t say thar 2007 offense was not highly explosive. I said it was highly-overrated, because Dallas was leading the league in terms of yardage to go on third well into the season, despite being his number 1 ranked offense in the league. I already quoted the stats, the average yards to go on third were a whopping 8.3 yards, meaning with the bottom dweller offenses of the league, but Romo’s passer rating and performance of third down was at an all-time high, meaning HE WAS CARRYING THE OFFENSE. That’s why the ‘wheels starter coming off’, because the joke of a play caller had Romo bailing him out at what was an unsustainable level. This problem of third and longs with this offense under Garrett continued throughout his career as a play caller, since he has no clue how to field a running game. Guys like Columbo, Gurode, Kosier, Holland and Davis were all journeymen linemen and the numbers on third clearly reflect over-rated they were, articulately as a run blocking line.

Absolutely none of this was on the level of what Romo finally started to work with in 2014 period. It is not in any way, close to the talent Dak has had surrounding himself since he stepped on the field, while as a system QB, he has dragged that team down and been the weak link over and over and over again, because he’s not a real pocket QB.

You are right, i need to watch more because after watching the Cards All 22, it was obvious that it wasn't Dak's fault and those "breaking down film" have agendas and linger on a few plays and ignore the great ones or the MANY where he is set up to fail.

They also ignore trying to field an offense with a hobbit in the backfield and how that negatively impacts the overall offense.

lol.

I love romo...one of the biggest fans during his time on this board. I got the worse hate for supporting him than Dak.

Yes, he played great that game but you cannot deny that he literally threw the game away throwing a pick deep in our own zone in a tie game with 2 min left.

Sorry.

Highest rated 4th Qtr QB ever to play the game when he retired - but go on with your nonsense!
