Nothing you can say or do will change that, but whatever you need to retort to feel better about it or somehow validate your snark and resentment, have at it! We’ll simply roll our eyes, chuckle and turn the page.

I can’t dispute these reactions likely help cope with the current state of the team. Perhaps it is harder to stomach what Dallas has become than if they were like this the whole time.

Feb 25th 1989 I still so vividly recall watching on WFAA local Channel 8. The day everything changed in Cowboys history.

“In the last three decades the Cowboys have returned to the top of the National Football League as the shiniest star of the bunch for marketing purposes. Early on in Jerry’s ownership, they also returned to the top of the league from a competition standpoint as they won three Super Bowls in the first seven years, but ever since then things have been tough sledding.

There is no denying the financial impact that Jerry Jones has had on the Dallas Cowboys, surrounding DFW areas, and even the NFL as a whole. He is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as an owner. His work on issues outside of the field helped him get there, like the influence he had in returning the league to Los Angeles where the hometown Rams just won the Super Bowl. The Rams played that game in the very palace that was built for them, one that was no doubt inspired by Jerry’s luxurious AT&T Stadium.

All of that is great and notable and makes for interesting books and documentaries. Unfortunately, the thing that matters to most fans is the success of the team on the field, and everything else has started to become frustrating as the team hasn’t appeared in a conference championship game in 26 years.

Think about that. The first seven years with Jerry at the helm as owner, general manager, and president were tons of success. But in the 26 years since, 79% of Jerry’s ownership, have been frustration, drama, and some success, but more of the first two.“

Worse day to some best day to others. As muxh as yall hate him. If he doesn't buy the team there is NO Jimmy, NO triplets, NO Haley, NO prime time and probably NO 3 out of 4 SBs

You believe the Cowboys are held in higher regard today than Philadelphia?

It depends on what we're talking about. I live in NJ and I get less Eagles games than I do Cowboys games. It's been that way for over 2 decades now.

That’s not enough to sell my soul out for the embarrassment and disgrace of ownership since.it certainly doesn’t give him a pass for life.

And we just don’t know what a more respectable ownership might have delivered in all of these years.

North or South Jersey? That's a tricky area because a lot of it is Giants country and I don't know if they'd push Eagles games. Kind of like Steelers Games in Northern Ohio

As fans, we feasted and thought that's the way we'd eat forever but it would have been better to have spaced out those 3 wins every 9 years and we might not have this 26 year thing that haunts this forum.

That's it exactly. 26 years thing ? That's in the eye of the beholder 26 years t a 30 year old is a life time,

To an old Dawg like myself, It 's less than half my life.

I have witnessed all five Super Bowl Victories all three defeats. All the playoff appearances, all of the years we sucked.

It just doesn't haunt me. That and I'm just not a front runner/bandwagon mofo without a real spine. I do not root for a team because it's the hot ish and I seem like the one of the cool kids.

I've said it before and it rings true to this day I rooted like hell for my BOYZ they were 1-15 I rooted just as hard, they won the Super Bowl

Coitus interruptus Stepven A. Skippy and Shannon and all the rest of them any body who listens and regurgitates their Bull-ish

Nah! That wasn't the worse day in Cowboys History. Just another in an illustrious history of an historic franchise

All this horrible day 33 years ago led to was three Super Bowls in four years including team of the decade. What a miserable experience. Too bad some of you weren’t around to enjoy it.

Sure, I’m unhappy with the last 26 years, but we’d have to go through at least another 26 years of futility (with a few 3 win seasons thrown in) to occupy the same tier as Philly. Even then I’d wager we still would have more fans and trophies.

A glorious honeymoon isn’t enough to sustain a long miserable and disgraceful marriage.

You must love misery, because you keep coming back! I keep coming back to the same point…everyone that regularly posts here KNOWS how much you hate Booger, and nothing you say or do will change what he does, so what’s the point?

What’s the point in reliving and remembrance of any sad event in history.

That's what i thought the OP was going to say....after Jimmy.....Cowboys suck... Jerry sucks more...
That’s probably true for many fans but this article was in remembrance and on the anniversary of the day Jethro purchased the Cowboys.

I guess not everyone read the article and just responding to title.

He has been a debacle as an owner. But there's no denying when Jimmy and Jerry were a pair, it was the best of times for the Cowboys, as far as I'm concerned.
Glad I got to experience the glory days of the 90s. I witnessed them in the 70s but was too young to really appreciate them.

And when you think about it....Jones feels thats the day he hit the jackpot, won the lottery, struck a gusher The gift that keeps on giving. What a difference in perspective. The good thing is he can't take it with him.

too bad some here live in the past and nowhere else. Jerry has been a disappointment for 25 years and you refuse to admit it. So how many more years are you going to live in the past?

Where have I ever said he hasn’t been a disappointment the past 25 years? It hasn’t been good since those Super Bowl wins but his first 7 years in the league were a blast! The Cowboys accomplished more in those 7 years than some franchises have accomplished in over 50 years. Looking back at those championships and cherishing the memories isn’t living in the past. Too many fans act like Jerry’s entire ownership has been a failure.

If we had gotten good, sustainable ownership in 89, then who knows what could have happened. We probably wouldn't have the 90's dynasty sure, but we could have won Super Bowls later on and be in a much better position than we are now stuck with one of the worst owners in the league.

The early success was a complete and utter fluke. Not sure how some don't realize this. We really sold our souls to the devil for that dynasty.
