There is a treasure trove of superhero characters created over decades. Until Marvel/Disney finally got a grip and began storyboarding years in advance, most superhero movies focused on a tiny group of characters. Batman. Superman. Spider-Man. Wolverine (and by direct association, the X-Men).

DC/Warner Bros, in particular, have been so risk-averse that strong, long-time characters, such as Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Captain Marvel Shazam ( ) and even Cyborg, have been late big screen additions. And despite decades of storylines to hand-pick relatable, audience friendly plots, the studio will flub on using a smart narrative in favor of nonsense (example: Wonder Woman 1984 ).

I totally understand "Batman Fatigue." Simply too much of one thing. Among the character redos was someone thinking George Clooney's costume needing nipples to make him standout from his predecessors. Crazy stuff.

So many alternatives. Teen Titans/Young Justice. Icon. The Legion. Static. Villain/Anti-hero? Give Deathstroke a standalone shot. The list goes on and on. It just takes some real imagination and ingenuity. I mean. All the material you could ever want is sitting RIGHT THERE.under your noses. Hollywood can be so freaking stupid at times.

I will say I have enjoyed the Titans and Pennyworth series so far. I did like Gotham also. I know those are TV and not movies, but it does give some hope for some quality DC based movies....... at sometime.

Happy to see another Titans fan although the third season could have been better. Teagan Croft is the youngest cast member, playing the role of Raven since she was 13. She was an excellent pick and pulls her weight as well as any other main cast member.\

Pennyworth is on my to-do list. I got away from Gotham around season four or five but hope to return and finish it.

In my opinion, DC/Warner Bros strength is on the small screen. Mainstream audience may not agree but many of their "dramatic" animation offerings are pretty darn good. Young Justice is in its fourth season. The artwork and dialogue are first-rate and combined with linear storytelling, although this current season has employed a fair amount of flashbacks. Animated movies are very good too, especially the Justice League Dark films featuring John Constantine.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent - I thought it started a little slow and Cage was annoying at first, but the more it went on the more it all came together. Overall it was pretty enjoyable. A little bit of everything.

Fantastic Beasts 3 - Meh. I guess better than the 2nd, but the series continues to meander.

"The Dare" (2019)

Sort of combines "Saw" with "Prom Night".

A family man is abducted from his home and locked in a secure room with 3 other people.

Gotta say the reason why he was abducted was different.

Also the last sequence of the film wasn't expected.

Rated 5.1 on IMDB.

I would rate it a tad less than that.

I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it, but if there was not much else on, it's an OK flick.

"Dead End" (2003)

At a bit of the movie had played through I wasn't sure if I was watching a serious tone movie that thought it was a spoof or a spoof that thought it was a serious tone movie...

After it ended I simply concluded it was neither, but had a "Twilight Zone" feel to it.

Basically a family heads to the wife's family on Christmas eve on a road that isn't well traveled.

And I'll stop there.

It was a good watch.

"Love and Monsters", Amazon, at first this looked really dumb but I stayed with it and it got better. I had never heard of it before but I am a creature feature kind of guy and I really liked it. 7/10 but you have to go in wanting a movie that just gets you lost.

The lead, Dylan O'Brien, was really good and could pass for Paul Walker's twin, it was really evident in the profile shots. The casting with Michael Rooker and the kid were great and the dog was exceptional.

BTW, I found the principle, and no spoiler here, of it plausible. We blow up an asteroid and particles drift onto our planet wreaking havoc on the wildlife and turning it against us.

Finally saw The Batman and agree with everyone that says it picks up in the second half. I wasn’t sold on that guy as Batman. Kept thinking “oh brother, an emo Batman.” But by the end, he won me over and I can accept him as the new one after enjoying a good run with Christian Bale and Ben Affleck doing the character justice. Catwoman is the &@#! in this one. Best version yet. I can finally feel some tension between the Batman and Catwoman, like it should be. If they’re going with the realistic version of Batman, I like the whole murder mystery horror atmosphere. At least they can make it their version instead of the Nolan films. And one other compliment about this, it may be the first one to capture the fear the hoods in Gotham feel over Batman. Nolan did it in his scenes but it never felt as creepy as this one with the random crooks looking in shadows at all times during the night and getting paranoid as hell once they saw the bat signal in the sky.

I really like Pennyworth quite a bit, a unique take and feel. I love the alternate reality 60's London they created, very cool and gritty. The actor playing Alfie(Alfred) is like a young Michael Caine, which is what they were going for and he does a great job.

- fighting scenes were so ordinary and average
- Very lame and anti-climatic
-and the film never well explained his pseudo vampire origin. Whatever they attempted to explain, wasn't even interesting
- the Tyrese's detective character seems like just a face appearance and not well developed or interesting at all.
- very bland sense of humor.
- Nothing special about the CGI effects, i felt it was a complete borrow from Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
- The ending credit has Morbius teaming up with an old Spidey enemy (who looked lame) for possible ..but after this i'm not interested
- Yet once again Sony gave a Marvel film the wrong director.
- Like Venom, very forgettable Marvel film.

On a scale of 1 to 10 .. i'd give it a 5.0

It didn't look good in the trailers, IMO, so I believe your assessment.

I am hoping to see The Northman soon. It is getting good reviews; 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Most negative ones I’ve seen say it’s kinda weird, but I don’t really know what else people expected from a Robert Eggers film. If you’ve seen The Witch or The Lighhouse, you know he is very into period-accurate mythology and horror. Everything is period accurate, down the the Valkyrie’s teeth tattoos and the grass used on set.

If anyone sees it, post your review, or I’ll hunt you down and make you.

I saw the Northman last night. I'll preface it by saying that I absolutely HATE Eggers other films. I consider The Witch and The Lighthouse to be 2 of the absolute worst films I have ever seen. I don't mind weird (And I'm not really sure I'd say The Witch was all that weird), but only as long as the film is interesting. I found neither of those two to come close to that, so the weird just made them that much ridiculous and tortuous. The Northman does have some "weird" moments, but nothing extreme, and they are weird within the context of the film and its setting. The underlying story is fairly simple, and of a type we've seen plenty of in the past. It's told competently enough though, and the performances are fairly engaging most of the time.

It does seem to drag on though for quite a while and probably could have been trimmed up a bit. The sound has some very good moments, but also (for me) there was way too much blaring of drums and horns. I know it is supposed to fit with the time and place and tone of the movie, but a little less would have gone a long way IMO.

So...I thought it was okay. It held my interest, but didn't captivate me.

I seen a review on IMDB that said it was basically torture porn. Not in a sexual way. That pretty much summed it up.

I watched this movie called 12 Mighty Orphans with Luke Wilson, that I thought was really good, it was based on a true story, and at the end they showed the real people and how they went on to have prominent lives

The Batman - I liked the story, but right from the start I thought they made a big mistake.

As he's narrating the beginning, talking about how "they" get scared and think he's in the shadows, whenever the Bat Signal shines, all I could think is, "The petty criminals would know he's too busy to bother with them, when the Bat Signal is on." That made any of his narrating unimportant to me.[Spoiler/]

I didn't like Pattinson at all. They tried to make his neck look bigger, by putting that silly looking collar on the costume, but that didn't work, and they never should've shown him shirtless.

I like that they didn't go over the top with the criminals' costumes, though I don't think they explained where Penguin's name came from, which they should've done, IMO.

Selena Kyle should've been in every single scene. She was quite possibly the sexiest Catwoman ever...and no, I'm not forgetting about Halle Berry.

"Come Out And Play" (2012)

A "Children of the Corn" kind of movie, but scarier IMO.

IMDB only gives it a rating of 4.7 which seems low to me.

I'd rate it 5.5 out of 10.

Not a great horror flick but a decent movie.
