This excites me a lot. I don’t know why people are being pessimistic. Hankins is not being brought here to shoot gaps and make TFLs or sacks. He is here to be a giant tree that a RB has to run around and that two OL have to commit to. It’s a landmark that our LBs should be able to count on not moving so they can be more decisive.

For a swap of a 6 & 7? Give me that all day. Hell I bet Hankins is STOKED to be coming here to play with this Defense. Dude probably feels like he just got a shot of life to play with this D

At least they are acknowledging the main weakness of the Defense.

exactly….I’d rather them make an attempt to fix a position then here the typical “next man up” or we can “coach that up” fixes. If it doesn’t pan out….it was a minimal risk

You'd have a point if age was the determining factor in prime years. But it's not. Injury history and tread will make players play older than they are. Hankins is nowhere near what he was with the Giants.

Like I said when we got Barr, don't expect this to be as big of an upgrade as we initially think.
I understand your point, and Tyron Smith is an interesting comparison.
We drafted Tyron in 2011 draft and he is still only 31.

Even if he is no more than a Big Bag of Dirt that can stand up OL at the goal line than Im good with the move.
Im betting that he is much more, and is welcoming a change of scenery.
Hankins gets to join a top defense in the league, bet he is really happy.

I mean, after the Eagles got what, 3 or 4 first downs on QB sneaks a couple of weeks ago, I can't complain.

I don't know what he has done this year, but I know he was a great run stopping DT in the past. Hopefully he can come in and not get pushed around in the run game.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!! We got a NT!! And a very good one at that. I wanted him when we had Garrett, and now we finally have him. He's an excellent run stopper.

What round pick. We did this before and got coop for a first round and he wasn’t worth the money and pick.

the offense literally changed night and day when coop got here. and his salary now compared to other WRs is reasonable.

Played very well for the Colts as a nose tackle in their 3-4 base a few years ago. I would like to see him used in a similar way when needed

That will essentially be his role. Quinn likes to play that pseudo-3-4 against the run, so Hankins will line up over center in those sets.
