All I can think of regards USC is a letdown after beating ND. Still a chance to win a Conference Championship should have had them playing better. But it is what it is.
This is truly a VERY unpredictable year in College Football; one of the things that makes it so wonderful.

I actually kind of hate that USC lost. I was hoping to see all those 4 conferences represented.

Unpopular opinion, but I also don’t like when teams like Ohio State get let back in because another team couldn’t handle their business.

Even if they are the 3rd best team in the country, they’ve already lost what was essentially a playoff game already to Michigan.

But that’s just the way it goes.

Agreed.
Not overly fond of USC but do prefer 4 separate conferences if it is going to be only a final 4.

I'd go so far long term as make it the top two teams in each P5 conf with the top 2 Group of 5 teams getting in.
That'd mirror the World Cup.
Random draw the lots for conference so they change yearly.
Big Champ versus ACC 2nd
SEC Champ versus Pac 12 2nd
Big 12 Champ versus SEC 2nd
et al...
Hate so much of it is still about popular opinion and influence.

Not in any way a TCU fan but hope they win because if it is two B1G and 2 SEC teams I simply won't watch it at all.

I can’t see the Georgia v OSU game be very competitive. But maybe the Michigan loss was more an anomaly than how good OSU is…

Go Blue…

OSU has had a questionable D all season long; giving up big plays. Against Michigan it finally caught up to them. Their Offense could not bail them out that time. Georgia's D is the best in college football this year; while their O is mediocre. There is a chance that it could be close

You do realize that popular opinion and influence will continue to be a major factor no matter what form the playoffs take? Ridiculous that they are going to 12, what made College Football different is how every game matters. That is significantly reduced with the new coming format. We have seen the same thing in the NHL, NBA and to a certain extent the NFL. More teams in playoffs lessens the importance of the regular season.

Lincoln riley is overrated.i am glad USC didnt win because defense is still allowed in college football.i have never seen such poor tackling basics in a important game.

Utah already beat USC earlier.
Not really a big upset.
We all knew USC had a horrendous defense. Reminded me some of those top 5 Oklahoma teams. Paper tigers

The Frogs would get Georgia

there is a pattern here, his defenses in Oklahoma were poor too.
Yep. Like all too many HCs that are biased towards one side or the other, they seem unable to put enough emphasis to get over the hump.

This is Rileys first year and took a sub .500 team. Now that he gets to actually recruit, USC will definitely be getting much better going forward. California has been getting poached for its recruits for years. I think many of then will be going to USC from now on.

No, no they won't.
Even if they are better (which is debatable this year) they won't....unless maybe TCU loses by 30-40 points

I do think a 1 loss Ohio State would've leap-frogged TCU if they lost and USC won.
But USC losing allowed Ohio St in. A 2-loss Bama that didn't win or even play in its conference title game? Nah

Maybe TCU will just win and we won't have to concern ourselves...

You can't predict injuries and while we will never know what would have happened, USC was winning 17-3 when their all world and Heisman Trophy candidate QB got injured.
