CFZ Jerry Jones screwed it up by getting rid of Jimmy Johnson

The only way this team can truly get better is by improving the QB position and signing free agents. That's something we can do today. I'd rather them be bad and get a chance to reload, than continue at this level of being too good to draft premium players, and too bad, to get out of the 2nd round.

The fear of having a lull in the organization similar to the Campo years is crippling us. We could have been back 2 times by now if they would just let the process play out.

Instead, we're sitting here in a list of teams that includes:

Last Championship game appearance
1. Washington (1991)
2. Detroit (1991)
3. Dallas (1995)

Enough is enough.

Jerry wants us to be relevant. The Campo years was the only time since Jerry bought the team ( minus the first year) that we weren't. He'll never let us hit rock bottom.
 
Aikman has always been an enigma

  • He led his team to 3 SB wins...so he is in the Hall of Fame
  • He was in a run first offense, so his stats were not sparkling.
  • His interception rate was way higher than either Romo's or Dak's, but each era has been easier for QBs. Staubach era tougher than Aikman, Aikman's tougher than Romos, Romo tougher than Dak's...etc
  • He never made All Pro. (top 2 QBs in NFL)...unlike Staubach or Romo
  • When he finally played on teams that were good enough to get the playoffs but not advance far (so more similar to recent teams), his playoff stats were awful 2 TDs and 8 picks in last 5 playoff games.
He's just always been tough to measure, but I personally do think he was way better than his personal stats showed.

Well, he decided after the publicity and fall out after SB 28. Timing in critical. It’s not like he immediately announced or had intention of leaving after the SB. it wasn’t until the theatrics played out he decided to leave.

He had private discussions with Jacksonville to be their head coach prior to that happening. Still ticks me off that Jax wasn't punished for tampering.
 
Let’s assume Jethro doesn’t create the publicity of wanting the credit he coveted . And his resentment that Jimmy was receiving it all becoming the face of his franchise.

Does Jimmy still leave at that point?

right, he didn't have too, Romo and Dak have had many situations where they "HAD TO" on lessor teams with lessor coaches and less talent.

The stats that mattered for Aikman in his era:

Aikman’s playoff record from 1992 - 1995 was:

10-1 with 21 TDs 8 INTs 3 SBs and 1 SB MVP against playoff teams.

Aikman’s 90 wins in the 1990s made him the winniest starting QB of any decade at the time of his retirement.

Romo’s and Dak’s playoff record is currently 2-4 or a combined 4-8.

Playoff performance including wins are the main difference between Romo, Dak, and Aikman.

Their regular season stats are not that important since they have not won it all in the playoffs.

I do not know what the passing stats for the 4 QBs remaining in the playoffs.

Do not really care. Just want to know which one will lead his team to SB victory.

His playoff stats were amazing during the Cowboys 4 year run.

10 wins 1 loss. 21 TDs 8 INTs. 3 SB wins and 1 SB MVP.

90 wins in the 1990s. Most of any starting QB in a decade at the time.

43 minutes of this video; Emmitt is mentioning the firing of Jimmy Johnson and to this day he still does not understand why.



If Jimmy just quit on the players and the team; he would not be held in such high regard by them today.

The video also mentions the Cowboys were never as dominant as they were during Jimmy Johnson’s last season with the team.

Aikman would have put up mind blowing stats if that was called for, it was never needed.
