A look at how the Cowboys spend their cap space on offense, defense and STs compared to the rest of the league.
  • OFFENSE: 27 players/$106 million/ Offense cap spending rank in NFL: 2nd
  • DEFENSE: 29 players/$63 million/Defense cap spending rank in NFL: 26th
  • ST’s: 4 players/$4.6 million/ST cap spending rank in NFL: 22nd
Where is our cap space spent in comparison to rest of NFL- Our Spending by position:
  • QB- 3 QBs / Ranked #10 in spending at QB
  • RB- 4 RBs/ Ranked #1 in spending at RB
  • WR- 7 WRs/ Ranked #26 in spending at WR
  • TE- 5 TEs/Ranked #5 in TE spending
  • OL- 10 OLmen/ Ranked #6 in spending at OL
  • DL- 10 DLmen/Ranked #16 in spending at DL
  • LB- 8 LBs/ Ranked #22 in spending at LB
  • Secondary- 15 players/Ranked #13
  • STs-4 players/Ranked #22
What jumps out that can be addressed? RB and TE.
With big contracts for Micah Parsons, CEdee Lamb and probably Diggs down the road, money can be saved at those positions to be used elsewhere.

Excellent information!
Thanks

Zeke cannot be on this roster next year if they are serious about getting better.
True, BH...

Unless Zeke voluntarily cuts his salary down from $16+ million to around $5 million. Anything more than $5 million is too much. We don't know how long Tony Pollard is going to take to fully heal...or if he will fully heal from that lower leg injury. Plus, will that injury affect Pollard's speed? If he loses his speed, how effective will a smaller bodied and slower Pollard be at RB? At least Zeke can get you those short tough yards and pass protect when needed. Malik Davis certainly has to be included. Another RB needs to be drafted.

I disagree. It’s time to part ways with Zeke. And that’s not just about money. One of the bad habits our FO too often falls into is keeping guys around for sentimental reasons. “We like our guys” is not what great NFL orgs do.

Zeke is no longer a starting level RB. He’s probably barely worth the veteran minimum. He hasn’t had a 100 yard game in over a year. In his last 50 carries, he averages 2 yards per rush. His decline is obvious. IMO, we need to draft a RB in the middle rounds. There are going to be plenty available.

Wow, what a Front Office huh ? We spend more money on RB than 31 other teams and all that money goes to Zeke, for 2 yards/carry.

Don't resign Schultz, Zeke needs to go.

Like what we've been saying since January 24th. Nothing has changed. Oh and that other guy needs to go, but... no trade clause n all...

No reason to address TE. This isn’t 2022 and it drops dramatically this year
RB is fairly easy, cut Zeke and sign pollard

They aren’t signing Schultz. They tagged him to see if Ferguson, Hindershot and mcjeon could handle the job. They showed enough to be comfortable moving on with them

10th at QB huh? The way we hear it around here...I thought that position would be 1.

It will be in the 20s before the season starts.

RB is and has been the problem with this team. I would completely start over but they won't.

I agree but unfortunately, that will not bring down the amount the Cowboys relegated to the RB position. Cutting Zeke, though, will at least make the money spent on the position hopefully more efficient.

Crazy how our defense overachived given their amount of cap used, and how our offense, was, well, you know
