Dak needs to voluntarily give some money back, preferably at least $10 mil/year.
That would be awesome, but I doubt Dak would do that. He might be open for a restructure but he will make sure he gets all his money. He will either get it sooner or later but he will be getting it.

Would you do it? I wouldn't.

I never blamed Dak for negotiating this contract. As a player you take what you can get. This ain't the salvation army. The problem is, Jerry handed it over to him. And another problem is, they agreed to a no trade clause. I mean WTeff??? Were they really so desperate? They could have signed him earlier and gotten away cheaper.

So no, Dak shouldn't give anything back. If anything he should get his sh!t together and get us that SB. Either way, he's a made man thanks to his agent. Cudos to him.

Agree. That was the contract he and his agent negotiated and that is the contract the Cowboys have to live and die with.

Zeke cannot be on this roster next year if they are serious about getting better.
explain if hes not here for 6mil anyway why not restructure 2 years 12-14mil and have him here for the same money on a new deal vs not, I mean players at RB close to what Zeke brings to the table ie 900-1k yards and 12tds splitting carries, like conner, Fournette and others all make around 7mil per year...

..cap is confusing, but we owe him anyway and TP cut or FT?

TE is easy Bye to schultz we drop to bottom 10 for TE

What does winning 25 games in 2 years suggest?
that our fans overreact to how bad they feel(all up in their feelings) our FO and gm run things because well they dont do it like the rams or eagles lol. the responses and posts around here you would think we were 7-10 2 straight years , being called the lions saying we aren't going anywhere but the 2nd round exit is a horrible way to end a season.. is it? being a top 10 NFL team with top 10 QB is horrible...

to me it suggests with MM hiring and DQ hiring the last 3 years things are moving upward, yet that's not making fans happy living in the past with well 27 years blah blah blah.

No its new era live in the now

MM was hired in 2020 , that year was a throwaway given c19 and all the injuries.

so hes had only these 2 years too make changes from the Garett era and if that's the expectation is the teams improved each of the 3 years and that all you can expect, Mike Mcarthy ., these payers, and the rest of the staff is not responsible for the teams 27-30 year history, that what fan all up in their feelings FEEL..

aweeee, you need a hug?

If you want to lower your own expectations and settle, that’s fine.

But don’t try to lecture me or anyone else about expecting more.

The Cowboys used to be a premier team in the league and some of us remember that.

You go ahead and settle for mediocrity.

I did and will because each season is new season and if i see improvements and changes to try and get better , that all a fan should expect, not hold current players and coaches to the old narrative "well whaa its been 27years" ,.

the 2nd round of the playoffs is not a bad season no matter what your expectations are, sorry its not. it could be far worse.

Crazy how our defense overachived given their amount of cap used, and how our offense, was, well, you know
Those defensive numbers are about to go way up in the next few years. Could see this flipped in 3 years time.

A look at how the Cowboys spend their cap space on offense, defense and STs compared to the rest of the league.
  • OFFENSE: 27 players/$106 million/ Offense cap spending rank in NFL: 2nd
  • DEFENSE: 29 players/$63 million/Defense cap spending rank in NFL: 26th
  • ST’s: 4 players/$4.6 million/ST cap spending rank in NFL: 22nd
Where is our cap space spent in comparison to rest of NFL- Our Spending by position:
  • QB- 3 QBs / Ranked #10 in spending at QB
  • RB- 4 RBs/ Ranked #1 in spending at RB
  • WR- 7 WRs/ Ranked #26 in spending at WR
  • TE- 5 TEs/Ranked #5 in TE spending
  • OL- 10 OLmen/ Ranked #6 in spending at OL
  • DL- 10 DLmen/Ranked #16 in spending at DL
  • LB- 8 LBs/ Ranked #22 in spending at LB
  • Secondary- 15 players/Ranked #13
  • STs-4 players/Ranked #22
What jumps out that can be addressed? RB and TE.
With big contracts for Micah Parsons, CEdee Lamb and probably Diggs down the road, money can be saved at those positions to be used elsewhere.

Here’s the link to the info I used:

Great Post! I keep harping about resource allocation, and here it is. These type of financial decisions, along with the allocation of draft picks, goes a long way in explaining success or failure in the NFL.

Three of our best players are on rookie deals. Two of those are on defense. Diggs and Parsons will swing those numbers significantly.
Lamb will bump the WR dollars significantly.
Zero salary at backup QB helps keep that number from being too far out of line (10 is still way too high for what we have).
The RB situation looks bad, though the contract responsible for that was 4 years ago. And the numbers at this position are still relatively small compared to many others. Even paying the most in the league is not a huge impact on the cap overall.
Schultz is decent, but nothing exceptional. I don't think I could justify 10+ million for a TE unless they were in the Kelce/Waller/Andrews tier.
