You are correct , they are not in the same exact situation.

They are in the same general situation in that they are coming off big contracts and their play is declining, and no team is going to pay them big bucks again...
I think it's more the length of contract than the annual pay. For a 1, or maybe 2 year contract (or 1 and an option for 2) I could see a team paying well for Cook. Not like Zeke's last contract, but maybe $8 million/year or so. I don't think anyone will commit to that kind of money longer than a year or two though. Too much of a salary cap commitment.

I could easily see him getting more than that "IF" he would sign a short term deal. I just don't see him getting a long term deal for big money though
I cant see anyone giving him more than a 2 year deal. The teams have all the leverage right now..... especially since there are so few that have cap space to pay him anything significant. so if you are the Cowboys, you say you arent interested due to money considerations only, but you make his people you are very interested if he doesnt get the money he is looking for. Think about it... signing a 1 year deal with a team like Dallas could allow him to have a very good season, leading to a 2 year deal next year when people have money to pay.

yep, and cook isnt 24. He is close to that age when teams have decided RBs break down.

RBs after the 1st contract should be close to a year by year contract position.

Dallas paying TonyP $10 million this year.

Plus the Zeke cap hits in 23/24.

I think if they had let Tony walk, then maybe.....

This is exactly right.

Supply > Demand
I mean true but he has the benefit of being head and shoulders better than anyone else available. So in his case he is the only one of his supply so there will be demand.

They all need to do what Shaq does... he says he lives off of 25% of his income and invests/saves the rest--- 75%. You will never go broke. He has no problem with blowing money at all, as long as it is part of the 25%. Wish players would follow the advice from Shaq, Michael, Magic, ....You can live the rich lifestyle you want, but be smart about it. Rather than continue with the same mentality you had when you were poor.
Shaq's net worth is $400 million. During his playing days, once his rookie deal was up, he earned between 10-27 million per year. I could live on 25% of that. Come to think of it, if I could go back in time, all that time I spent on the football field may have been better spent on the basketball court. No concussions and maybe my knees wouldn't beg for a quart of oil every morning these days. NBA players have it made compared to NFL players. You get paid a minimum of $950K for sitting at the end of the bench. 10-year vet minimum salary averages out at $2.7 million for a 10-year guy. How many RB's last 10 years? How many NFL players last 10 years?

Obviously he won't get a contract like Zeke got from the Cowboys a few years back, but Cook's numbers are better than any Zeke has had in the last 3 years, so I wouldn't say he is in the same boat as Zeke.
umm context zeke played hurt and still somehow splitting carries got close to 900yards and 12 tds, hardly a big difference between him and cooks as you are trying to imply. He played a full season, zeke did not.
relaity check,
we have our Starter and hes a lot like Pollard, we got Vaughn similar to TPs skillset, adding cooks for the monkey he wasn't would be a bad move we are invested this season in Pollard, we got jones, malik, Dowdle, Vaughn, and hunter to compete all TC/PS and find out who backs up pollard and who gets few leftovers..

i dont see the issue here KC and the eagles brought less to the SB in the backfield. TP is better then anyone with KC and equal to sanders. This is a non-need and fans thinking we need to make big move with all those bodies and money earmarked at the RB position, are clueless the business side of football.

Dalvin is overvaluing himself. He will sit unsigned until an injury occurs on a team...then said team will rush 2 overpay for him.

Well yes.........but you have to think long term. The extensions will eat up most of that and you need some reserved going into the season.
and like many others have said.... wpryy about next year, next year. The rams are in cap hell.... but they won a SB to do so. I it worth it???????????????

not at RB
sorry the rams nor the eagles nor KC loaded their backfield with backs taking up resources. rbs are not typically the key position that puts you over the top.. if tp didnt sign his tag or was let go sure cooks makes sense

fact is they tagged pollard brought in jones have many rbs on staff and drafted 2..id say they have that covered. if you dont believe TP is beer then KC backfield, sanders maybe equal and cam phreaking Akers..sure that's the key SMH. Bengals lost to that unknown boring rams backfield and they had the better RB but Mixon's far from special who was his backup..umm nothing special....

all the best backs in the league at their peak seem to be missing the SB, Cooks help MN beat us last year, nope did he help beat the giants nope..

Count me in the group of Cowboys fans who is satisfied with what we have. Tired of these losers who keep trolling CZ with WR and RB threads!
