CFZ If the QB doesn't get a new contract, how will you watch this season?

on the couch with one hand down my pants and the other with a cold can A' Coke....the same way since 1991

I don't even understand the question in the OP. If he gets anything, he's getting an extension that starts in 2025. Whether he gets that extension this year or the next, it starts in 2025.

But regardless of how much I like a player, I still want to see that player and the team succeed. I don't have to like the player. I just want to win.

So, my question is mainly to those that do not like him. If he does not get a new contract, can you pull for him and the team knowing he will get another one and most likely larger than the extension he might have gotten?
There is no plan to give him a new contract or ext right now lol.
my take is it will be next off season, so this is a prove it year for dak.

As far as rooting for the team, that has no effect on the outcome of games / seasons.
If rooting for the team worked, they would have been to the SB every year.

My dream scenario and one that will produce at least 2 Superbowls in the next 7 years.
Tank 0-17 to have the # 1 pick in the draft.
Draft your new Troy Aikman.
Prescott's Purgatory must end ASAP!!!!
ENOUGH ALREADY!
Sadly it is a process !! and with jerry process =10 years, so I dont think he will be done with dak anytime soon.
And jerry doesnt have the brains to tank, even in a bad season !
When Romo broke his CB, jerry put him back in too early and he broke it again. He expected Romo to win 7 games in a row just to barely
make playoffs, and then march on to SB. What he should have done is tank after the game with 1st injury, then pick 1st in every round.
Romo would be ready next season after a year off, and all the top of the rounds picks to help team win.

jerry just isnt capable of tanking, or smart enough, and he thinks still that if his team just gets in playoffs, they have a good chance of winning a SB.

Winning championships is over glorified by fans. It’s not the initial priority by ownership.

Having a consistent playoff contender brings stability which stems fans interest generating revenue. Tanking a season doesn’t guarantee anything. Hitting rock bottom is never a good plan unless you’re already there.

I’m not sure who you think Dak needs to prove it too? You don’t think our ownership and coaching staff are sold on him ?

Are or you simply referring to his critics who are waiting on us to win or at least play for a championship. They probably still won’t give him any credit and say trade him while he has more value.

dak needs to prove he can play better in the playoffs.

Needs to prove to who?

And while he stunk it up in SF he played beautifully in Tampa.

You really believe he has something more to prove to our ownership ?
I think they had a lot of doubt as to whether or not Dak was their guy. That's why they delayed giving him his first contract. They knew it would cost them, but I guess they thought it was worth it to make sure. Now they're willing to stick with Dak for the long haul.

I’m not sure they ever really had doubt. That was more of holding out hoping the team would have more success to validate it.

But yea, I have little doubt we have all intentions to resign him. And it’s not based on having more success in the playoffs which is more of a validation for some fans not our ownership,

And that was before we had a good defense. Now that DQ has turned it around, I think they're comfortable with Dak. I still think they had reservations earlier.

I posed this in another thread but thought it would be an interesting topic here, if all posters can really be honest with their answers.

First off, I am going to say Prescott is a more polarizing player than Romo was and I could see fans of the team actually pulling against their own team to try and get rid of him.

It is an oddity but it is there, many just don't want him to be the DC QB. The question is enough to pull against him and the team?

I gotta say, if I disliked him at QB as much as some here do, and evidently that is not exclusive to the Zone, I might be tempted to pull for a QB crash and burn.

And I am not going to ask if not him, then whom because those that really dislike Prescott do not care, I really do believe they have arrived at "anyone but him".

I am also not going to say if they go that route they are not good fans. Plenty of fans have pulled for their teams to get worse in order to get better.

So, my question is mainly to those that do not like him. If he does not get a new contract, can you pull for him and the team knowing he will get another one and most likely larger than the extension he might have gotten?

Oh, I know, the Joneses intend on extending him but they intended on getting him on a new contract before they had to do that 160M one. He's bet on himself before and won.

I'll say this... only the DUMBEST fans in the world would root against their favorite team under ANY circumstances. Who does that??

The only good thing that will occur if they give INEPTO an extension is that I will have more than a valid reason to wash my hands of the Jones Circus.
Again I stress that Dak will not survive this coming season esp without his mental support (Moore, Zeke, and Shultz) out on the field to hold his hand.
Have no doubt this team is at its most important crossroad and the Dak decision will tell the tale of what the future holds for 28 years and counting franchise!

Not sure how we can argue our ownership had reservations early. At least not after they booted Romo.

The last thing Jethro wanted would be to prove him wrong for making that decision.

Not resigning Prescott would have been highly criticized as one of his greatest blunders after letting Romo go.
