Things I loved:
- Deuce is real. Really real.
- Dowdle cemented as the heavy back
- ALL TEs besides Mckeon looked GREAT
- Tolbert is definitely our #4 WR
- Juanyeh Thomas is a fantastic #2 true FS
- Damone Clark was EVERYWHERE

Things I liked:
- Leupke looks decent
- Isaiah Land looks pretty good
- Mazi looks like a 1st year 1T should look
- Justin Houston is gonna fight for a role
- Really liked what I saw in Overshown
- Aubrey did ok on KOs and FGs for game 1
- Weirdly the 3rd team O-Line?
- Turpin is a WR receiver now
Things that made me frown
- Jalen Brooks had a really bad game

- The 2nd team O-Line
- Our 2nd team pass rush
- This team needs to try more QBs out. Everyone’s backups look better than ours
- Our backup corners did not play well at all
- 0 edge discipline from DEs
I didn't see every Brooks target, but the ones I did see were due to a very poor QB performance. Can't blame that on Brooks.

J. Thomas played well.

But the game was the norm: their scrubs outplay our scrubs. It's in the NFL rule book that it must be this way.
They played their starters well into the 1s quarter. We didn’t play our starters. Did you even watch the game?

Did I miss something on Joseph? I saw two throws against him and neither were complete, and he made a play to bat down one of them.

I'm not trying to be critical of your post; I'm just curious if I missed something. I'll go back and watch the game again (like I always do), but I don't remember anything bad for him in this one.
I look at his demeanor. His on field demeanor is nothing like his off field bravado. He doesn't play with any swagger, always with his head down. That's the "savage" he proclaims he is? And let's be real. His pass breakup was a hint away from pass interference. If you don't believe in yourself at cb you're done. That's why they want him at safety

Fans on here believe in him more than he does himself

Jacksonville’s backups were playing third stringers and guys who won’t make an NFL roster. Our backups were playing their starters.
Ok, so all is fine in Dallas, we should easily beat Jacksonville just like last year right??

I haven't watched the game yet. I will catch it tomorrow when NFL Network replays it. But I do want to make a point about the OL. No NFL team will do well if they have to play 5 or even 4 backups or 3rd string players. Aome teams can sustain 2 injuries to the OL some only one depending on the position on the line.

Unless the Cowboys have an awful string of bad luck they will play 5 good players on the OL. Smith, Smith Biadasz, Martin and Steele is a really good group.

I will also make a point about Cooper Rush. While he won 4 games for Dallas last year backing up Dak, the offense did not exactly light up the scoreboard. He is an okay backup you want to keep the game under control and not make any mistakes. But he is never going to put up 30 points per game.

  • We have tight ends galore and no guards
  • Duece is gonna be good
  • Mazi looked great
So you’re the only one in America who said mazi looked good. My new name for him will be soft taco number 2.
No he's not the only one, Mazi DID look good. He clogged up the middle stopping the run which was what we needed, to stop the run.

Actually, go look at Mazi Smith again. He stops the run several times.
He clogged up the middle of the line, which is just what we needed, to stop the run! Give this guy some experience and he will be a beast.

Deuce was great. Rico will be #2 to start the season and he might be the only backup RB who can protect the QB.

Grier is not going to be QB2 unless something drastic changes. He's not starter material. We have already seen that Coop can win in the NFL.

The backups on the OL are a concern. I think I've seen enough to know Ball isn't going to cut it as a starter in this league. Waletzco seems like Ball part 2.

Plenty of depth at WR and across the DL. Secondary looks good.

Putting my cards on the table ridiculously early: trade some WR / DL depth for any OL depth and we could have a very good year, indeed.

No, I just know what I am looking at. Rico had a solid game except for the fumble. I just think it is stupid to say cut the kicker now when he showed that he has a strong leg for kicking off and was perfect on all the other kicks.
This is no different than your usual “Dak had a solid game except for the 2 interceptions “ rubbish

Not getting hyped for this team. Still has obvious problems that many have called out. O line is one. Kicker is another. Love what I saw from Deuce, but don't know how many carries I want him getting at his size against first stringers.

We have serious flaws that will rear themselves against the 49ers, Eagles, and Jags in a play-off situation.
I’m gonna guess we don’t have to worry about the Jags in the playoffs.

) Man oh man, the OL depth STINKS. I know none of the guys playing today should see significant snaps. But they did not look good.
I'm not sure it's as bad ..........I think a couple of them playing with starters will be fine. It was the first preseason game and I'm guessing they're trying to decide who will replace Martin if he's not avail for game one. I'm too concerned.......yet

It’s preseason game 1 and there are positive takeaways

We also ( at least some of did) that OL could be an issue and it looks like that may very well be the case
