I think this is a signal from Vegas that the Eagles can’t keep playing the way they have and expect to win… eventually it’s gonna catch up to them and the 49ers are the perfect team to do it (along with the Boys). 49ers have revenge factor as well after last years NFC championship game debacle.
Vegas sets the line based on betting patterns. They are not saying who they think will win,… they are setting a line so that the betting evens out somewhat. They want their vig, they do not want to be exposed to one side or another winning and subjecting them to a financial loss.

You are right. But don’t they have to set the original line based on their expected outcome of the game (among other factors), and then adjust the lines based on which sides are being bet more heavily in order to not be overly leveraged to one side?

No rules for them….

They set the initial line , based on their forecast for betting patterns… then as the actual bets come in they adjust… That’s why you see the line moving as time goes along.

Eagles beat KC because KC has been shooting themselves in the foot. Kelce fumbled, dropped passes. TD pass to endzone got dropped. Clean up those and game goes to KC.

Commanders took eagles to OT.

Eagles are beatable.

What can I say? I set myself up for that one.
I served you a fast ball, and you knocked it out of the park.
It’s all speculative and we just rib each other until it becomes a historical fact. You may be right when all is said and done. And I hope you give me the full brunt of ‘I told you so’ if you’re proven correct.

Absolutely. I think Vegas made a mistake with this one. But we'll see how it turns out. This morning it was 49ers -3. Right now I see it at 49ers -2 1/2. If it drops to a pick em, or favors the Eagles at some point. You know Vegas took a little beating on this one if the Eagles win.

We should handle Seattle tomorrow, but to me this game is even more important to us. SF and philly, our 2 biggest rivals. Can't wait.

Well…the 49ers are also beatable…3 times so far lol. I love it how fans just don’t get that… Cowboy fans included. Every team is beatable any given Sunday.

And playing the… this team took them to overtime, or, this team beat them, game is silly… that always works both ways…

The 49ers seem to match up well with us. We seem to match up evenly with the Eagles. Maybe the Eagles match up to the 49ers? No idea… As the NFCCG was really a non-game.

I’m probably picking the 49ers largely because Philly just played an overtime game on Sunday and San Fran hasn’t played since Thursday. San Fran seems to be a bit healthier as well right now… Throw in that the off the chart level of whining 49 players have done since last January and you gotta think they’re gonna be super amped for the game. Rain in the forecast… I’m seeing an Eagles 13-ish, 40 whiners 20ish.

But maybe that’s my heart, and not my head… Hurts just doesn’t seem to lose… but my man crush on Hurts is twice what Rison‘s crush was on Wentz was so…

Hopefully they both destroy each other with injuries.

Let me save you the trouble, 49ers will come out hot and strong. Probably be up by 50 going into the fourth and yet somehow eagles and the refs put it together and they comeback and win in OT.

Some utter HS is going to happen. Either something similar to what you said, or this will be the one game the Eagles have a great game. They survived 2-3 games they should have lost, now they'll put together a great game.

The initial line is set to generate action. The line changes based on the action. The books maintain historical data on betting patterns. No action, no profit. Vegas books set odds on what they think they can get, not what they think will happen. That should surprise no one.

I don't do the "I told you so's." Just as you said, when it's all said and done, we're all guessing.

They still had their defense that couldn't stop the eagles. I think we can heat the niners this year. Who have the niners beat?
Ummm…..Dallas :muttley:

I too think Dallas can beat them, they are on par talent wise for the most part. I think it is more physiological as to why they keep punching the Cowboys in the face. Dallas has to get over that hump, not sure they will in the playoffs in Cali.

It depends on who is playing. Is Lane Johnson back and ready to play? Is Fletcher Cox? Jordan Davis? Zack Cunningham? With those guys I think the Eagles win and it would not surprise me if they won easily in Philly. Without those guys I think it is a very different ball game. I do not think Hurts will run much with Warner and Greenlaw chasing him down, but if Johnson plays, he won't have to.

The SF secondary can be beat if you can block their pass rush. The Cowboys did not challenge them downfield enough. Hurts will go deep on them and he will hit smith and Brown for some long gains.
I heard Lane Johnson will play but I am shocked. The report is that he tore the scar tissue where the groin surgery was performed during the off season. That has to hurt like hell. There is no way he will be close to 100%. Goedart still out. Cox and Cunningham didn't practice today. Davis was limited. Smith, Brown, Jones, and Swift were also limited. I predict a 20-point 49ers victory. My Eagle friends are even predicting a loss.
