This thread turned into Romo battles and Crayton blaming. Lol that's probably Jerry's fault too I suppose

Honestly though we went 8-8 with 4-12 or 5-11 teams.
But not worth the debate
Its not becuase you guys are revising history. Post retirement you guys have raised Romo to the status of Staubach or Aikman. Even to the point of people saying Troy only won rings because of the team around him.

Romo has played with hall of famers and was going 8-8. We aren't talking about winning a SB we are simply talking about getting to the playoffs and winning a game or two.

Romo never had a "horrible team". You can argue he didn't have a SB team sure. But horrible is a stretch. Especially if Romo was a top 5 QB like so many claim he is. The way guys make it sound it sounds like people think he's Brock Purdy and needed a stacked team. But at some point if you're truly a top 5 guy don't you have to overcompensate for your teams issues?
I will say this outside of 2016 (catching lightning in a bottle with Dak) anytime Romo went down those teams were trash and losers. I’d argue most of his teams were only as good as Romo was.

That's fair but I mean look at who they had behind him. They had guys like Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassell.....is it a coincidence that in 2016 they have a solid backup in Dak and they won 13 games?

I've told this story before, but a few years ago Roomo was playing in the annual celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe. With two holes to go Romo had I think a 3 point lead (they use a point system not a stroke system). All he had to do was par the last two holes, and not totally screw up and he wins easily. He is on the tee on 17, which is a par 5. He is a big hitter so this is an easy hole to reach in 2 strokes. He bombs his drive in the fairway. He is only a 7 iron from the green. For a scratch golfer a 7 iron is almost money in the bank. He has water on the left, and sand on the right. In other words, there is plenty of room on a par 5 to keep the ball middle of the green or right to avoid the water. Sand is not great but it is not a penalty stroke and a drop either. Again, it is a 7 iron to the green for an Eagle attempt to virtually put the tournament away. What does Romo do? He pulls his 7 iron into the middle of the pond on the left. He bogeys the hole and loses comes in second. I thought at the time, "what a choke!" But my second reaction was, it was a very Romo thing to do.

Epic! Lol because for real it’s a very Romo thing to do. So much talent but so maddening at the same time! There were HS stories like this as well if I remember correctly.

Where is this intricate conspiracy theory coming from? Who asked for 'exact numbers'??? I asked for an opinion and you are making yourself out to be a martyr for the defense.

Again, you said:

What does beloved mean? To me, it equates to Romo being so appreciated that he has been held above criticism.

You state 'just read ALL the defense for him'. I never stated any members have not defending him in the past or even now about his playing career. That said, I have read and review waaaaaay more posts and threads by waaaaaay more members for waaaaay over a decade than you. I have read a lot of defense of Romo over the years. I have read a lot of vitriol for Romo for just as long.

This is the best part. You say his 'interceptions are generally dismissed'.

1. Romo has been heavily criticized on this board.
2. You emphasize how much other members are defending him THEN offer nothing that relates in words just how much other members ARE defending him
3. Saying Romo's interceptions are generally dismissed must be coming from reading posts saying his interceptions were no big deal, which is cool, except for the fact THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF POSTS MADE ON THIS SITE BY MEMBERS CRITICIZING HIS INTERCEPTIONS WHEN HE PLAYED FOR DALLAS.

All I asked for was your opinion of how bad you thought Romo was defended by fellow members on this board since he became a starting quarterback. I even simplied it in terms of possible ratios. An answer could have been something as simple as, "I think the board was 90/10 in love with Romo."

Instead, I got... Just re-read your own reply. It speaks volumes for wherever on Earth (or hell) your mind went to.

I’d say it’s like a 60/40 split to beloved/disliked. Just from memory being in this board for 20 years.

I actually agree with Dez on not carrying pads for Roy. I've always hated hazing and in my football days I didn't do that BS. No man should bend the knee for another man. I don't care what some garbage "unwritten rule" is. It's for the weak of mind.
It was kinda traditional and very much harmless and I wouldn't say it was hazing.

Let’s be honest, if only for an injury to Kellen Moore we would’ve had no idea about Dak. Thats why I used the catching lightning in bottle reference. I do think they would’ve won games if Moore did not get hurt though. I’d even wager to say that had he stayed healthy and split his games until Romo came back that there would’ve been a good chance of Dak being cut. Not because he’s not talented, but because he wouldn’t have been given the snaps he got to showcase his talents.

I am not disputing the turds we had at QB, I’m just saying with the supposed lines, run games and good defenses they should’ve been competitive and they absolutely were not.

This was actually a really good interview. It was really a walk down memory lane and a slight pulling back of the curtain. I will say this, all the info that has been coming out about Garret is damning. I know a lot of people here felt that Garrett set up Wade to lose his job, it was pretty much confirmed. Also Garrett being a spineless weasel and a liar was a bit eye opening. He should have never coached for as long as he did. Interesting how Parcells hardened this team. I think you need a Parcells like coach with a bit of a new twist.

The video contains some pretty strong adult language. You should have posted a warning or checked with the mods before posting it.
here you go again. Are you a mod? If so, I apologize. If not, why do you police threads for language and such? I'm truly curious.

That's a interesting take. I remember that camp and how they claimed Showers and Moore looked better than Dak. But Dak was so on fire in the preseason....makes me wonder if he wouldn't have took that job from Moore at some point.

I explained that the last time you complained. I give a heads up so no one gets benched and no I’m not a mod. I’m not the only one who mentioned it. I will continue to do it whether you like it or not.

It’s possible that he could’ve. But we would be talking about lighting up back ups if Moore was healthy and getting snaps. Moore in 2015 did come in and be competitive at the end of that season, so that’s why I have the take I have about Moore splitting those games at the very least in 2016. That team had talent.
