Dan Quinn to be Commanders new HC per Schefter

It would be malpractice not to have a plan. The NFL community talked all of the 2023 season about the inevitability of Dan Quinn becoming a Head Coach in 2024. If you think Mike McCarthy doesn’t have a plan to replace him, you are simply being foolish.
No. This team doesnt plan ahead. Its been proven year after year. Keep up the fantasy though. I can post example after example of them not planning.

Look no further than WR last season, or RB this season.

If you think Mike McCarthy doesn’t have a plan to replace him, you are simply being foolish. This isn’t his first rodeo, and he’s a much better Head Coach than many give him credit for being.
Sure they have a plan. Whether it's a good plan or not is the question. MM doesn't have the best record for his hires here.

100 bucks says the front office had no backup plan in place and is now scrambling.
I'd take that bet... you don't run the most valuable franchise without a plan especially when he was already doing virtual interviews....

Jerry will probably hire someone here can dangle as a threat to Mike as replacing him, and pay that dude more than Mike to land him… this keeping the Cowboys in the news.

I feel mine Ralph Wiggum… learnding

I’m glad Quinn is gone. Mainly because it eliminates him from taking over for McCarthy if he’s not back after next season. Quinn did improve our defense but we couldn’t stop anyone in big games.

Well I am certainly not looking forward to the next hire. If it's not Whitt, I'd anticipate them hiring whoever has a name they recognize, a former head coach who is outdated and past their prime, and someone who requires little to no research into scheme, style, vision, or fit.

So basically Zimmer or Rivera.

Happy for Dan. Wish it were out of division so I could cheer for his success, but oh well... the lack of my support will be uber important, but who knows... some guys have went on to success in spite of that, I have to admit. :)

Jimmy Johnson’s offense stunk up the NFL in 1989 & 1990 under Dave Shula. Johnson replaced him. In the same way, McCarthy dumped Nolan after only a year. Give him credit for that, in the same way you give Johnson the credit for dumping Shula.

Also, the Cowboys didn’t get their 1st or even 2nd choice candidate to replace Shula in 1991. Norv Turner was widely reported to be their 3rd choice. It doesn’t matter if the Cowboys don’t get their first choice to replace Quinn. It only matters if he can do as good or better of a job than Quinn, and help the defense get better. Don’t get caught up in names. Make performance the criteria.
Several like myself tend to believe Management forced the dump of Mike Nolan - as well as his other former colleague Jim Tomsula DL coach.
And management sought it out Dan Quinn to Cowboys as new DC.
If it was up to McCarthy, he would've likely brought Nolan right back into the fold.

Mac has had habits of holding on to disappointing DCs (ala Don Capers) until management forces him otherwise.

Why keep a guy who possibly run the same D?????
How do we know what defense Dan ran? He had to run what Jerry left him-NO linebackers!!!!!! You telling me in Seattle with the Legion of Boom. They ran it with NO linebackers???? Quinn is getting good owners-good GM. Watch what he does before us-just watch!!

I am very concerned at who this FO brings in for DC now. Actually I dont know if I am more scared of the FO or MM deciding on that.

.
I hate people who are too lazy to spell things out and just use letters. Like fFO - ront office and MM - Mike McCarthy.

Yaaaaaaaaaaay! The Cowboys needed a change at DC. DQ was never a good enough Xs-and-Os gametime DC to take this team deep into the playoffs. Change is good.
