Yeah this was the talk today on the sports radio out here in the Bay Area. A lot of people think he is the scapegoat and we’re critical of Shanahan for not taking the ball 2nd in OT. Said he is very arrogant. They also were crucifying Moot for getting the extra pt blocked

Hmm that's a shock. I thought that defense played amazing.

Is there any previous connection with Zimmer?
Niners started getting ball ran down their throats in playoffs and season's end.

Whispers are swirling that Kyle did not like the Niners effort vs GB and Lions

..And there were rumors that he wasn't pleased with certain sets and coverages in SB, leading to final two Chiefs drives
for very critical, game determining points.

Scheme was fine until Greenlaw went out with an ACL. The entire dynamics of the game changed because of it.

The 49ers offense was non-existent for like 35 mins after a good start. Just disappeared. Reminded me of the Cowboys in a big game. Shanahan deserves some of the blame. I thought the 49ers D was solid but I guess they didn't look great down the stretch. Definitely a scapegoat thing.
Kinda like our coaches being scapegoated for our incompetent QB.

In a hurry, our fantasy football owner/GM/fishrot leader should’ve waited to see how this rumor played out.

This guy was totally scapegoated, he would’ve been totally looking to go ALL IN against SF next season! Ugh
You thinks Wilks is better then Zimmer? The 49ers were an all star defense and they got exposed by the Ravens and never recovered.

Yeah,
Don't agree with this firing.
If they had played any other QB in that game the 49ers win.
Sometimes the most elite QBs rise above elite defenses.
Many here would not agree, lol

An unfair scapegoat in this case imo.

so you believe it was Shanahan overriding Wilkes in that timeout???...sheesh
Yes. So did Romo and Nance.
The HC absolutely can override the DC.
You may have watched the game but you certainly
weren't listening. Good grief.

Maybe it's just me, but I would've immediately extended his contract after watching him shut down KC.
I must be missing something.
I agree with you, but the word on the curb is that Steve Wilks wasn't popular with the players he coached. His personality is far different from the previous DC's Robert Saleh and DeMeco Ryans who both went on to become Head Coaches {NY Jets & Houston Texans} respectively. Wilks is not an emotionally intense guy; He has a conservative and laid-back persona, which is off-putting to the "Bang Bang Niner Gang" attitude that is firmly imbedded in the 49ers locker-room. Saleh and Ryans were Fiery, Intense, Demonstrative and Passionate getting in the face of the players to challenge them in an intensely effective way. I have a feeling that Shanahan was forced into this decision, but I'm quite sure Wilks will do just fine at his next stop.

Wilks did not get fired based off Greenlaw's freak accident achilles tendon tear.
Last year, losing the starting running back didn't hurt either. I wonder if Ukrane shoots down jets, tanks, and ships if that hurts their opponent as well.

Lol. Didnt see much of a problem with the defense as the game was close and went to OT. This is why the 49ers will stay on that quest for 6 indefinitely.

Anybody that watched the game knows who is really to blame for the 49er's loss lol.. But since you can't fire the guy who is arguably the best offensive play caller in the NFL, someone else must fall on the sword, hence Steve Wilks. **I hope I'm wrong, but I have a sick feeling that they will go hard at Bill Belichick to fill that D.C. role.**

Bring him in , see if we can coax him into coaching the dline
Hard to believe a smart team won't bring this guy in to replace their DC, BUT I'd be all for bringing him to dallas in some capacity. Not sure how that would go over with Zim? But too bad.
