What if Dak is the one who is holding up the extension or trade?

Oh I think many have considered this, but from an injury standpoint it doesn’t make much sense, so the chances that it is Dak holding it up are slim.
Exactly and if he is going to play even more timid than normal trying to avoid injury ..... it wouldn't go well.

Well, I mean there are 31 other teams in the league, so the probability of a player going to another one of them to win a championship increases just by the numbers.

Besides, no one ever thought "Demarcus Ware is holding us back from winning a championship. We ought to let him go."
my point, ware was ware. and his best years were in dallas. he didn't lead us to a championship. couldn't because the cowboys aren't just structured that way. he went to Denver and within two years he won a championship, with a half armed QB at the helm

few of our players ended up with KC and won. there have been others.

chances of Dak going to another team and having a chance to win, is much higher than chances of Dak winning anything in Dallas. its not Dak. its Dallas organization issue. but its easy to point fingers to one person. because that's what people do. facts are that in 30 years we haven't come close to being competitive in post season. Dak has been here for 8 of those.

Cleveland was dumb enough to pay watson, plus give up draft picks.
Denver was dumb enough to pay wilson, plus give up draft picks.

There will be one to pay dak, and they dont have to give up any draft picks.
Your are correct. All it takes is one interested team. But if there is a team that thinks Dak is their best option they should be willing to give up something to lure him away now & not risk FA.

Of course he is. Even if he's not doing it intentionally, his salary demands are.

You are seriously OVERESTIMATING Dak's talent grade.
Do you think there will be a bidding war for his services after all you've witnessed in 8 seasons of beating up dog teams and him folding like a cheap tent vs real teams??
Amazing simply amazing.........................:omg:
He didn't say anything about a bidding war, that's just you putting a spin on it for dramatic effect

He just said Dak may want to leave Dallas and could pick the team and offer he liked best.

Of course Dak wouldn't be pursued the way someone with considerable playoff success would, but let's not act as if that means nobody would pay him big dollars. Kirk Cousins, who has had no more success than Dak, got a 4 year, $180 million contract.

I dont think anyone has considered this?
What if he wants to hit FA ? He is close, and all he has to do is turn down any dallas offer, and wait less than 1 year.

March 25 he would be a FA and can negotiate with any team he wants, and pick the offer he likes best.
Could be the cowboys, or any other team.

Any team that wants him will have to pay big, but no draft picks needed like in a trade.

Cleveland, Denver, both gave up numerous picks for QB's and also payed them big, so Dak as a FA would be much
better than trading for a QB.

Dallas fans have turned on dak, so maybe he wants to say goodbye to them?

I think Dak would be smart to do this, play out this season,be careful to not get hurt, then pick a new team or cowboys and get a huge deal.
Jones boys could not do anything about it if he decided to do this.

I think this could be whats happening and jones boys dont want people to know dak has turned them down and wont talk to them lol.
What if this fan base is overthinking everything too many what ifs too many opinions too many nostradamus people who think they know what's going on I mean why do we keep talking about something we don't know anything about?? Seems like a waste of time we'll see what happens when it happens I wouldn't be shocked if Prescott gets signed right before the season starts all this could be posturing from both sides or it was crazy as he could become a free agent and still end up signing with the Dallas Cowboys... There's too many variables I don't care I know we have a quarterback that had one of his best seasons last year on our team this year and that's all that matters they need to finish building this team in this roster with the rest of the five months we have before game one and that's all I'm interested in is after the draft what this team starts to look like...

Players like Ware or Hitchens (who went to KC and won a SB) don't have the ball in their hands on almost every play like a QB does. They don't lead teams to championships. Even LT the greatest LB of all time couldn't lead a team to one. You made it a point that players have better opportunities to win a championship elsewhere. I merely pointed out that they do just due to the numbers, especially if they go to teams that have been competing for them.

The QB on this team is having the GM say "We will go as far as Dak goes" because that is almost always true, all things being equal, since that has been the case except for some outlier SB championships, e.g., the Ravens in 2000 or the Bears in 1985 both of which had powerhouse defenses. Now the QB isn't always responsible for failure, he's just typically the most responsible because the ball is in his hands in 99% of the offensive plays. Everyone can look at Dak's play and stats in all of his playoff games. Outside of the playoff game against 8-9 TB, his play has been average to awful, especially in the first half. He's thrown seven picks and I can remember at least three that were in the hands of defenders but were dropped in just the past two playoff games: one in SF when he was tasked with leading the team down the field to make a name for himself where on his first or second play he almost threw a pick to the LB which hit him in the hands and he just dropped it; the other in the GB game a few plays prior to scoring a TD at the end of the half to make it 27-7 where it hit the LB in the hands when he turned around and he just dropped it.

What "Dak-stans" don't seem to get is player evaluators can look at his individual play and see these things. It does not matter what other members of the team do that could've cost the team the game as well. They are independent facts that can and are evaluated separately.

32 year old all pro quarterbacks in their prime never hit free agency. Your hate is so strong that it will probably shock you when he gets the biggest contract in NFL history next summer.
LOL.. “all pro”…. To start the season, he couldn’t even find the red zone and the end the season he threw 5 picks in 5 games and 2 of them in the biggest game of his career.

Claiming he would be the biggest free agent ever is insanity, especially since he’s 2-5 in the play-offs..

Nah buddy, your Dak fandom is making you blind.. Kurt Warner was a free agent.. Drew Brees.. Deion Sanders.. Reggie White
Peyton Manning was a free agent…

If you mean most over-rated free agent ever, I’d agree with you.. hell, he’s in the running for most over-rated player ever..

Dak can't hold up the extension talks if the jonses won't talk to his agent.

Gotta a feeling they are trying their best to trade him before the draft.
I don't know if the demand is out there to make it worth it for them.

The Cowboys have to decide whether or not to pick up his 5th year option next month. We know they are not going to pick up his 5th year option. If they do, you know Dak is gone after this season.

No team in this league is paying Lance 22M for a season. None. No chance, and either will the Cowboys. Jerry is known to pay players too much, but only because he believes someone else will. Take that off the table, and he's not that stupid. I'm guessing Lance would probably have to take a deal similar to what Jordon Love did.

There is absolutely no reason for the Cowboys to extend Dak at this time. It's too late. What would be the point in opening up 40M in cap space now? They would look like fools. If they give him a new contract, it will come after this season. It will all hinge on how well the Cowboys do in 2024. And Jerry isn't making it easy.

Maybe Jerry is a George Steinbrenner fan. George used to like his employees to be uncomfortable. That's how you get the best from them. Like training dogs.
They already declined to pick up his 5th year option. That deadline was quite a while ago.
