I insist, Dallas should've had played Romo in Playoffs 2016. Denver did it the year when Payton went down during the regular season, they pulled the backup QB coming playoffs time and Payton took them to the SB, DeMarcus Ware sure appreciates that smart FO / HC decision.

Willing & ready to play a playoff run is different than saying you are ready to change teams & start another phase of your career. I don't know why people confuse the two.
Why is it different if he's truly an NFL starter........especially if he wanted to continue playing.

Don't know how much clearer I could have said it. Has he ever said he wanted to play past the season?

Romo was also chosen to start by a REAL FOOTBALL COACH and Dak was not.
Dak got his job because the starter got injured and was never allowed to compete to get it back
see how that works?
Do you recall Drew Bledsole last days?

Sure he did....... ( this isn't hard to find )

FYI.......The Chiefs and Cardinals quickly shut the door. The Texans and Bronco were interested but only if he was released. They were not willing to trade any picks ( not even a 7th rounder ) and they would promise him a chance to COMPETE for the starting QB.

Shannon Sharpe and Cam just stating facts what many of us have stated.
What that # of many consists of is maybe a dozen and I have 0 interest in their message as I come here for the love of the STAR and NFL football.
Wearing agenda glasses and then trying to assess and talk football can sure be confusing in one's mind.
You have my sympathies................
P.S. Now for punishment you must write the word HATE 500 times on the board!!!! :muttley:

I think Tony was of two minds about continuing playing and then he got a huge offer to go into broadcasting and that tipped the balance. You have to wonder what would have happened if he had gone to the Broncos.

I mean 35 IQ level stuff
On so many levels

Didn't say YOU were a moron.
Said your post was moronic.
Who cares what you think? you didn't offer an opinion or critique that can be replied to. What EXACTLY is the problem with the post?

Romo was a top 10 QB cap hit once in his entire career.

Romo was a decent QB that was paid like a decent QB.

Dak on the other hand….
Was Romo paid as the top QB in the league? How many Pro Bowls? All-Pros? Playoff games?

In fact, Romo's leadership was so poor that AFTER he was putting in Peyton Manning hours a rookie took over the locker room from him. So bad that right before his concession speech he tried to throw a party and "open up" to the guys. In year 5 of being starter - and year 8 in the league - Romo said he was going to be more vocal and step up lol.

Of course, dollar for dollar Dak is going to make more just like Romo made waaaay more than Troy. But Romo had done less and was LESS COMMITTED to football than Dak. Dak has served his purpose in ridding us of Romo, but it's his time to go too...BUT...let's not deify Romo.

For free? Being an undrafted free agent, multiple training camps just to MAKE THE ROSTER, beat out Parcells' guy in Bledsoe and becoming a multiple Pro Bowler is getting it for free?
Bledsoe was done...please. He retired soon after. He beat out quincy carter, hutchinson, henson and that short dude who played for one game. Please....Romo was ALSO coddled in that way too. Jerry never went behind his back and cheated with another QB. He never let Romo see the franchise tag. He GUSHED about Romo after epic collapse after epic collapse. Jerry is waay less forgiving - "We'll go as far as Dak can take us and you saw how far he took us" - with Dak and less supportive.

I agree .........it really can a massive offer as CBS's #1 broadcaster vs signing with the Broncos but no guarantee he'd win the starting job. That would have left him as a backup and missed opportunity in broadcasting. He made the right decision.

You're entitled to your opinion but I think you’re way off. HE WAS UNDRAFTED. ZERO expectations. He showed enough in 2003 to serve as the 3rd QB; do you know how hard it is to make an NFL roster let alone at the most important position? The only reason he made the fracking roster in 04' is because Quincy decided to fail a drug test; Romo was one decision away from being done. He didn't get Dallas a SB, but he is undoubtedly a success story. Don't belittle what Romo accomplished; he worked his butt off to get better as a player throughout his career and now as a successful broadcaster.

Less supportive with Dak? Jerry's checkbook would disagree with you. Give me a break. Maybe Romo and his agent didn't play hardball with Jerry like Dak and his agent has; you have no idea what the specifics are yet you speak in absolutes like you know.

I remember when Romo caught heat for a backwards hat and dating starlets. This current mess hangs out in strip joint parking lots and alienates his #1 WR 5 minutes into a playoff game
Exactly what was done to alienate CeeDee?
